Ps3 Wired connection problems

I connect my ps3 through ethernet straight to modem. All of the sudden it has stopped connecting and altho it does pick up wireless signals, I can't connect to those either. We haven't made any changes to our modem settings and there have been no new devices connecting.

Is this a common problem? How do I fix it? I have tried everything and I hope it's not a fault with my PS3. I've refrained from formatting because there's too much saved on my system to risk losing any of it.

please get back to me on this, i have netscape internet. (which blows) what broadband internet should i get. then what do i have to buy after that? I know i need an ethernet cable and a router. but my dad is a tight ass, and i need to suggest cheap broadband to him. i live out in the country too, i've heard hughes net is good, but jesus christ that costs $60 a month... please get back to me.

the best thing i know is to disconnect ur power cord of ur modem let it rest for 2mins then connect it bk

n if your lucky just make sure the only ethernet cord connected to the modem is jst from the ps3 i always get good connection but wen other ppl use the net i lag so much

i got YLOD a few weeks ago like 2 weeks ago i did the blower fix and i fix my PS3 then i tried to connect to the PSN and it wont it always siad error conection and down this number code (80130182) then i do connection test and said ip address could not establish or other thing but the problem is is whit the ip address and i trie wire and wirelees could someone help men plz some help i love playin online thanks if some can help

hey i have a problem. i connect my ps3 to my modem and everything so far is fine. when i do the test everything is fine. but when i go play a game a screen comes up and says that i need a system update. when i press ok, the playstation restarts and does the same thing over and over again. how do i fix this problem? someone please help me!!

Disconet ur internet Box pug it back in Then Take out the eternet cable off Plug it to ur PS3 then test out ur Internet Thats what i did :)

yes you must first hook the ethernet cable from the modem or router to the ps3 and on the back of the modem or router there is a little restart button. well hold a pen in it for 10 second then turn on ps3 and wait 50 seconds //////then on ps3 go to network settings then to connection setting then easy ( you must do this every time you want to get online ecept the for the part after the slashes

hi, guys i really need help. you see a few weeks ago i bought my ps3. i have comcast. connect directly through modem.when i connected it to internet it worked fine. afterwards we had some problems with computer so we called comcast they said that our ip add was static so they changed out ip from 169..... to 69....now whenever i try to connect to ps3 i cant do it. tried power cycling doesn't work. entered info manually still don't work. did automatic doesn't work. plsssssss help me !!!!!!!!!!!!

@thegame2187 try to call your internet provider and tell them  that you need to change or reset your ip they will ask why then you explain your case and they will do it.... now there is not guarantee that it will work this is just an option

You need to change the router port settings to designate the ps3 as a virtual server. When you find these settings you will need the ip address from your ps3 and input it into the port designation for example Belkin N router setup Firewall > virtual server description=game, Inbound=9999, port Type=TCP, Private IP address=ps3 ip address found under connection status list in ps3 network settings, Private port=9999

enable these settings and apply changes

i had that problem but then i got a wireless router and its much easier and if the modem is not router made i think u wud need to get a wireless router and with wireless router u can hav online wired or wireless

Ok any1 want to go wired with ps3?; make sure u turn console and modem OFF!! before conecting.then conect ethernet cable, then turn on console and boot up modem, follow internet conection procedure on ps3...BANG! ur in, u will only have to do it the once. Hope this helps. ps; f8ck the wireless stuff in alot of cases it just won't happen..its a configuration NIGHTMARE!!..up to u but i could not get on with it.
