This was the guy who harassed Bill Clinton for his infidelities! What a hypocrite! Cute Newt can't tricksy his way out of this long-term. Mark my words, as months pass the press pack will hound him down, and all those that cheered this twisty table-turning will feel betrayed by him.
Also, ANY republican tht boos at the fact that we should treat other countries how we would like to be treated is a NAZI. All you who do that prove one thing:
Gingrich isn't even on the Virginia (12th most populated state) ballot. He has no organization in the other states. He will not be the nominee ,so why waste a Vote on him?
i'm not the biggest ron paul supporter, and some of the allegations that have come out out about him (especialy the racist newsletters) made me quite wary and suspicious. Regardless, why is he never given enough media coverage and air time on debates? Strikes me as a bit odd.
Moral indignation won't do when all that has happened is Newt Gingrich's hypocrisy has been highlighted. His ex-wife is more than in her right to grant an interview to whomever asks her for one and the media is more than within its right to point out that Newt, a leading proponent of family values was more than happy to moralise about about the lives of others, even going so far as to attempt the impeachment a president, while not personally adhering to his own lofty standards in his own life.
@yourtreat2 OK guy, I don't love Ron Paul and I am also an atheist, but I have to say a few things. First of all, the guy WAS a doctor, so don't put that in quotes. And do you really think spacing your comment like that and caps locking everything gets your point across? It just makes you look immature. Finally, so what if he's racist? It wont affect policy, and he'll be our 40th racist president.
@yourtreat2 Religion has no bearing on who I vote for, I wouldnt care if he was a pastafarian, bashing him personally has nothing to do with his politics.
Newt was set up. They let him do this to himself so they could hammer him all-day , seen the news?
That newt thing was staged. Gave him 3 minutes to belittle the host , give me a break. The thing CNN was really doing wrong was giving him a platform to dismiss the interview, He didn't have to pay for it and they allowed him to look like he was being attacked (poor victim), instead of the cheating (abusive) husband he was.
Turns out , thy gave him rope and he hung himself.
Thanks to liberal policy the world economy is crashing. We must do two things to stop the meltdown NOW!!! Firstly, we need to raise all payroll taxes 10% for one year. We also need to stop (right now) wasteful handout programs like medicare, social security, unemployment,, etc. and lower the minimum wage to $2/hr so we can compete with China. I will work with Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan and my other republican colleagues and take immediate action on these proposals. God bless the GOP!

Newt Gingrich has cancelled a campaign appearance in South Carolina because of poor attendance.
The Republican presidential candidate was scheduled to speak to the Southern Republican Leadership on Friday. But a campaign spokesman told reporters that he would no longer be appearing due to poor attendance.
The narrator specifically points out how Ron Paul keeps bringing up the same issues (um... don't all politicians do that?), and then they give air time to some windbag at the end of the clip who goes on about electability. Pretty weak, AJ, pretty weak.
I've heard Rick Santorum has been linked to a child exploitation sex ring. The same one that Sandusky and Penn State are part of. Santorum is a child molester?
Newt Gingrich left his wife for a mistress WHILE he was impeaching clinton for a blowjob from a mistress. This is not getting mentioned for some reason....
Say what you like about Newt (I certainly won't defend him), but what happened at the open of the debate was once referred to as "Yellow Journalism". Too bad the "unbiased media" is slanted so noticeably to the "port side of the ship".
@watcherjohnny Gingrich regularly uses other people's personal lives as a bludgeon to try and destroy them. He's earned this treatment, and i see absolutely nothing wrong with pointing out his sickening hypocrisy. Yellow journalism suits yellow human beings, and Newt Gingrich is definitely one of those.
Well, at least you are forthcoming enough to freely admit to fully support media bias. Most of your ilk deny it even exists. Thank you for stepping forward!
@watcherjohnny what's biased about it? was it biased when the press covered the monica lewinsky scandal nonstop for years? what's biased is people saying gingrich's personal life should be ignored when he constantly noses into other people's personal lives. HE has made his indifference to the institution of marriage an issue, not CNN or anyone else, by using marriage as a political weapon. would you silence journalists who ask him about it?
Once again, I have absolutely no qualms about reporting ALL the dirt they can dig-up on Newt. But the venue and timing was blatantly intended to bias the viewer, and wound the candidate. Further, I expect an unbiased media to apply the same standards, to all candidates (including Democrats), equally. That does not happen, that is my gripe. The media should act as the "Fourth Estate". Instead, its conduct is more akin to an "ankle biting little lap dog of the left".
@highway234 The media was sitting on the Clinton story, and only ran with it after Drudge shamed them for it. After that you are partly correct. The media covered the clinton scandal for years..in the context of them saying that Clinton only perjured himself regarding sex and Republicans were evil for pointing it out..in what manner has Newt perjured himself before a Grand Jury in your deep and intelligent estimation?
@loetzfan Newt never had to stand in front of grand jury because there was no hypocritical douche bag like himself out there leading the charge to have him removed from office! Otherwise, he certainly would have continued the lie he was peddling at the time, you know that he wasn't banging an aid on the side just as he had done to his first wife!
@durhamdf So now you are claiming that it was Newt Gingrich who made Clinton lie to a grand jury!? Newt had nothing to do with Clinton's deposition.It was related to a civil matter. It must be nice to be so sure you are right that you would say anything to confirm your own biases and then actually be dumb enough to believe your own BS. But thank you for answering my question in your dishonest, roundabout way. Newt did not commit perjury the way Clinton did. Thank you.
With even a subtle grasp of the facts and issues, your narrative would be very different. The issue is not Newt or Bill and the philandering. The issue is the conduct of the media.
@watcherjohnny For you that isn't the issue, but then you are an intellectual midget! This whole liberal media conspiracy fantasy you are pushing just makes you look like a moron. The Monica Lewinsky scandal was one of the most covered stories of the past half century and most was negative for BIll! The REAL issue to most Americans is that yes both Bill and Newt cheated on their wives, but only Newt was leading a crusade to have Bill removed from office for doing the exact same thing he was!
You got lots of words, but are missing a few facts. Bill lied during a court deposition. Remember? He was disbarred for perjuring himself. Remember? How un-intellectual of me. Perchance, are you a school teacher?
@watcherjohnny Did you not read my comment or did you just fail 3rd grade reading comprehension? Like I said, Newt didn't have to stand before a grand jury because he didn't have a hypocritical asshole like himself trying to remove Newt from office for HIS affairs! If he HAD had to stand before a grand jury he would have committed perjury as well. In the end was America mad that Clinton lied or that he cheated? Unless you were living under a fucking rock at the time you'd know it was the latter!
Once again, history is at odds with your private version of reality. Charges of perjury and obstruction of justice were brought against Clinton based on statements he made during the depositions for the Paula Jones lawsuit. Congress was not a party to this suit.
Clinton lost his license to practice law for 5 years on this "misleading" testimony. Other fines and judgments were levied against him by the courts.
By the way, profanity only detracts from your arguments.
@watcherjohnny Almost, but completely wrong! Clinton was never convicted of perjury in the Jones case, he was found to be in contempt of court. THe Perjury chrages came as part of the impeachment trial involving the monica lewinsky case. But again, you miss the point completely. THe public wasn't pissed that Bill was missleading in his testimony, they were pissed that he cheated on his wife and made our political system look like a joke. (contd)...
@watcherjohnny (contd)... Newt on the other hand was banging aides too AND hypocritially trying to have a political opponent removed from office for the exact same thing. You can't see a destinction there? I guess you neocons are so used to hypocrisy you wouldn't notice it if it bit you in the ass...
@watcherjohnny You seem to be obsessed with this mythical liberal media bias. The fact is the Lewinsky Scandal and then the impeachment scandal were the most covered and negative news stories about a sitting president since Nixon! And at the same time nobody was calling Newt out for his hypocrisy in leading the charge against Clinton for his affair while he was currently cheating on his second wife/mistress from his first marriage! Hypocrisy thy name is Republican
Sorry dude, but the horse is dead and you still want to beat on it. I don't care about Newt. Don't like Newt. Don't really like the entire line-up. That is not the point. Until you can climb out of your partisan rut, you'll continue to miss the bigger issue (and picture). Newt is bad, Clinton was good. Happy? You win - now go turn on your TV and get your lessons.
@watcherjohnny Don't you understand the point I am making? YOu are arguing that there is a liberal media bias and Republicans are attacked whereas Democrats slide by unnoticed. I am arguing that is ridiculous and as an example, Newt didn't get much attention when he was cheating on his second wife while attacking Clinton for doing the same thing. But Clinton sure as hell found the media spotlight for his infidelities!
Clinton and Newt aside, do you believe the mainstream media has been objective with Obama and his presidency? Do you think that they have treated Bush and Obama the same? Do you think if Obama had been a conservative republican, he would have received the same type of coverage?
@watcherjohnny No I think the majority is slanted one way or the other. Very few media sources are completely neutral, but it is pretty balanced. Between fox news and virtually every talk radio show making Obama out to be a Muslim, Kenyan, Racist, Communist, socialist etc... and the left leaning and left wing cable news shows acting like Obama is god can do no wrong we pretty much have a wash.
In the aggregate, it may all be balanced, but on an outlet by outlet basis, it's biased! And that is my point. I know Fox slants one way, and CBS slants another. I want neutral!! I don't want "perspective" when I'm trying to get raw information. I don't want "commentary" when I trying to get facts. I don't want to listen to an "advocate" when I turn the news on, I want to listen to a reporter. Is that asking too much?
@watcherjohnny Well shit I agree with you there. The only News sources that I would call objective if not neutral are the Economist magazine and NPR isn't too bad either.
@loetzfan drudge had the story first because they didn't wait for the story to be confirmed. so if anyone is to be "shamed" for yellow journalism in this case, it was drudge.
the perjury thing is a smokescreen. conservatives never talked about perjury with clinton, they blathered about clinton damaging the institution of marriage, and only started talking about perjury once their own indifference to the institution of marriage was pointed out.
@highway234 Actually, you couldn't be more wrong. It was the Republicans who constantly stressed the legality and perjury issues since they were the ones impeaching and it was the Democrats who used the sex as a smokescreen. Do yourself a favor. Go back and read the transcripts for Clinton's Impeachment. It will illustrate how completely full of shit you are as well as possibly actually give you a glimmer of insight into the matters you are trying to discuss with me.
@loetzfan i'm not talking about the legal pretense of the republican hitjob against clinton. i'm talking about how they sold it publicly, and they always did so by talking about the sanctity of marriage. it was only after the story of gingrich's (and several other republicans') infidelities came to light that they started talking about perjury. they'd gone on a fishing expedition, couldn't get him on whitewater but could violate his privacy thencorner him on a technicality. big whoop.
@highway234 "conservatives never talked about perjury with clinton," I think you yourself have been pretty much forced to disown this original charge.
"they'd gone on a fishing expedition" Ken star was ordered to investigate the possible perjury by Janet Reno on conclusion of his Whitewater investigation. Therefore and predictably your current charge is factually wrong. Again, a slight familiarity with the facts would help you.
@highway234 If Clinton doing something that would have gotten him fired from any company, then lying about it under oath, then lying to his own cabinet so they would defend him with their own credibility as he lied to the American people bold faced for 7 months ultimately resulting in his Impeachment, contempt of court, a huge civil penalty to Paula Jones and his disbarment to practice law is "big whoop", then how can you log in here and pretend to be mad about Newt?
@loetzfan anyone who says the clinton thing was about his perjury, not his infidelity, is being fundamentally dishonest. talk to just about any lawyer, they'll tell you they never prosecute perjury charges based around protecting hidden infidelities, because the offense is so petty. you must be a real dyed-in-the-wool partisan hack. the sort who holds democrats accountable for things you'd never hold republicans accountable for. i have no respect for that.
@highway234 For the record, I think Newt is nearly as big a scumbag is Clinton and would never vote for him. You call Clinton's perjury, many affairs and rapes, lying to the country and a Grand Jury "big whoop" while pretending to be mad at Newt for much lesser things. You can be a hypocritical little bitch if you want, but then to call me the partisan hack who doesn't hold people equally liable when you have been talking about yourself the whole time is just pathetic. Check & mate.
Ron Paul is FAR more inspiring than Obama because he thoroughly discusses substantive issues without a teleprompter. There is a 60 minutes petition to have him on the show. Google it and let's get him the time he deserves. Like this if you'll sign it. Let's keep this message on top to spread the word. ty
@ladylordess Well, given Newt Gingrich's sanctimonious, hypocritical persecution of everyone around him for violating the sanctity of marriage, the fact that he's a sad, self-centered womanizer with no respect for the institution himself and no love for anyone except his own pathetic, degraded, worthless, shriveled up self is definitely relevant. gingrich is a sickening, sickening man, and his ex really drives that point home.
You are clearly missing the point of this comment. The poster is not defending Newt. They are lamenting the fact that "journalists" (and the media) has resorted to these shameless tactics. If you would ease-up on the Kool-aid just a bit, read slowly, and sound-out all the words, you might get the point of what's being said.
@watcherjohnny gingrich's shameless attempts to police the personal lives of others makes his own personal life fair game. generally i don't care if someone "served" but if you're a pro-war politician, it matters if you dodged the draft. i don't care what someone drives but if you claim to be an environmentalist politician, it matters if you drive an SUV. it matters that newt is a serial philanderer, and there's no way to know he is unless it gets reported and asked about.
I have absolutely no qualms about reporting ALL the dirt they can dig-up on Newt.
@watcherjohnny@watcherjohnny you have no way of knowing the intentions of the person asking the question. if he'd had a good answer to the question, it wouldn't have "wounded" him or "biased" the viewer. but he didn't, so it wounded him and it was a wound well deserved.
the press, a lapdog for the left? they covered the lewinsky scandal for years, they helped lie us into war with iraq, they hardly covered the NDAA indefinite detention provisions ... sorry, that's preposterous.
I'm not sure you watched the same debate as I yesterday evening, but I don't believe most viewers, with leanings to the right, believed Newt was wounded by the exchange. What has raised their ire is the conduct of the media, and the blatant ATTEMPT to embarrass and wound.
@watcherjohnny well, the right loves to cry about the press. it's kinda a craven tactic, but if you would like to see poor gingrich be protected from being asked about these perfectly legitimate allegations in the primary debates i think you'll find he'll be destroyed by them in the general campaign. he's a dead man walking, election wise, and his failed marriages are a big part of the reason why. CNN's probably doing the repubs a favor by driving that nail in his coffin now.
The issue at hand is; Do you want a media that acts as advocate? (Left, right, or center). I do not.
Do you believe that one of the other candidates up on that stage would have let the issue slip-by, if they believed they could make hay?
If you are satisfied with a media that feels at liberty to "color and shade", the "people" will continue to be pawns of the powerful corporate interests, and you can be their cheerleader. I wish you well.
@watcherjohnny i'm still not clear why you think gingrich should be protected from his marital conduct, when he is perfectly comfortable making political hay out of the marital conduct of others. you keep seeing "advocacy" in this, and i'd agree with you if the allegations were false or not germane, but no one's even arguing this. so it was a fair question, and i have no idea why you think otherwise.
I repeat AGAIN, the issue is not Newt. Have you once stopped and considered how the opening question may have completely changed the dynamics of the debate?? My guess is Santorum, and his staff, had spent hours preparing to beat Newt with this issue. Note how all the candidates stepped back from the issue after Newt managed to defuse it with his charged response to the moderator. The moderator couldn't have helped Newt more!!! Make an effort to see the bigger picture here!
@watcherjohnny i'm sure ANY controversial opening question would change the dynamics of any debate. doesn't mean the question shouldn't be asked, or that we should insulate certain candidates from certain questions because they don't have good answers for them. I'm not sure why santorum or anyone else couldn't follow up on the issue simply because the moderator had asked about it too. i dunno, this is super-speculative stuff, man.
If it would change the dynamics of the debate, why do it??
No, it's not super-speculative. It's an expectation that the group of people who represent themselves as professional, objective, and neutral act accordingly. It matters not to me whether the act of prejudice was directed at a Republican or a Democrat. What matters is that I can trust the media to be unbiased and objective. I find it impossible to do with behavior like this. That's all I'm saying.
@watcherjohnny any controversial question could "change the dynamics of the debate." what, you want the press to stick to asking candidates what their favorite color is and whether their biggest flaw is that they work too hard? "neutral" is not the same thing as "neutered." it would be one thing if it were an "are you still beating your wife" question but it's a completely fair question based on something his ex-wife said the night before, and i notice he didn't even refute the accusation.
The only thing I can say in response is, unless the electorate pressures the media to maintain as neutral a position as possible in subjective situations, the entire spectrum of political views will distrust the media. I'm not talking about good, old fashion investigative journalism - I say, turn them loose to rake the muck. I'm talking about the "ambush" and "gotcha" nonsense I witnessed at the start of this debate. It's pandering, plain and simple for me.
@watcherjohnny "ambush"? do you really think gingrich didn't antipate a question like that? he'd be a fool not to. in fact, his whole phony outrage tantrum he went into to avoid answering the question felt rehearsed. anyway, i can't believe you don't think it's important whether this sanctity of marriage, family values guy solicited his wife for an open marriage. it would make him a total hypocrite, and that matters. but to you, the question shouldn't even be asked. that's amazing to me.
@watcherjohnny here's a comparison to consider: what if john edwards had stayed in politics after we'd found out that he was just waiting for his cancer-ill wife to die so he could sack up with his mistress? (this is very close to what gingrich did to his first wife.) and then, what if, during a campaign debate, he had NOT been asked about this? how much you wanna bet you would have been saying the "liberal" media was protecting him? lol.
I ask you to recall the name of media organization that brought the John Edwards affair to the public's attention. Do you remember? Hint: It was not ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX, NY Times, et al.
Adam Smith was right - Adam Smith thought that Bankers and Governments are evil. You read that right, the financial sector that made Romney rich is parasitic to real economy and Adam Smith argued AGAINST it. So stfu Romney and go read what Adam Smith actually said.
This was the guy who harassed Bill Clinton for his infidelities! What a hypocrite! Cute Newt can't tricksy his way out of this long-term. Mark my words, as months pass the press pack will hound him down, and all those that cheered this twisty table-turning will feel betrayed by him.

Say what you like about Newt (I certainly won't defend him), but what happened at the open of the debate was once referred to as "Yellow Journalism". Too bad the "unbiased media" is slanted so noticeably to the "port side of the ship".
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny Gingrich regularly uses other people's personal lives as a bludgeon to try and destroy them. He's earned this treatment, and i see absolutely nothing wrong with pointing out his sickening hypocrisy. Yellow journalism suits yellow human beings, and Newt Gingrich is definitely one of those.

watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny what's biased about it? was it biased when the press covered the monica lewinsky scandal nonstop for years? what's biased is people saying gingrich's personal life should be ignored when he constantly noses into other people's personal lives. HE has made his indifference to the institution of marriage an issue, not CNN or anyone else, by using marriage as a political weapon. would you silence journalists who ask him about it?

@highway234
Instead, its conduct is more akin to an "ankle biting little lap dog of the left".
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@highway234 The media was sitting on the Clinton story, and only ran with it after Drudge shamed them for it. After that you are partly correct. The media covered the clinton scandal for years..in the context of them saying that Clinton only perjured himself regarding sex and Republicans were evil for pointing it out..in what manner has Newt perjured himself before a Grand Jury in your deep and intelligent estimation?
loetzfan 1 month ago
@loetzfan Newt never had to stand in front of grand jury because there was no hypocritical douche bag like himself out there leading the charge to have him removed from office! Otherwise, he certainly would have continued the lie he was peddling at the time, you know that he wasn't banging an aid on the side just as he had done to his first wife!
durhamdf 1 month ago
@durhamdf So now you are claiming that it was Newt Gingrich who made Clinton lie to a grand jury!? Newt had nothing to do with Clinton's deposition.It was related to a civil matter. It must be nice to be so sure you are right that you would say anything to confirm your own biases and then actually be dumb enough to believe your own BS. But thank you for answering my question in your dishonest, roundabout way. Newt did not commit perjury the way Clinton did. Thank you.
loetzfan 1 month ago
@durhamdf
With even a subtle grasp of the facts and issues, your narrative would be very different. The issue is not Newt or Bill and the philandering. The issue is the conduct of the media.
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny For you that isn't the issue, but then you are an intellectual midget! This whole liberal media conspiracy fantasy you are pushing just makes you look like a moron. The Monica Lewinsky scandal was one of the most covered stories of the past half century and most was negative for BIll! The REAL issue to most Americans is that yes both Bill and Newt cheated on their wives, but only Newt was leading a crusade to have Bill removed from office for doing the exact same thing he was!
durhamdf 1 month ago
@durhamdf exactly.
highway234 1 month ago
@durhamdf
You got lots of words, but are missing a few facts. Bill lied during a court deposition. Remember? He was disbarred for perjuring himself. Remember? How un-intellectual of me. Perchance, are you a school teacher?
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny Did you not read my comment or did you just fail 3rd grade reading comprehension? Like I said, Newt didn't have to stand before a grand jury because he didn't have a hypocritical asshole like himself trying to remove Newt from office for HIS affairs! If he HAD had to stand before a grand jury he would have committed perjury as well. In the end was America mad that Clinton lied or that he cheated? Unless you were living under a fucking rock at the time you'd know it was the latter!
durhamdf 1 month ago
@durhamdf
By the way, profanity only detracts from your arguments.
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny Almost, but completely wrong! Clinton was never convicted of perjury in the Jones case, he was found to be in contempt of court. THe Perjury chrages came as part of the impeachment trial involving the monica lewinsky case. But again, you miss the point completely. THe public wasn't pissed that Bill was missleading in his testimony, they were pissed that he cheated on his wife and made our political system look like a joke. (contd)...
durhamdf 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny (contd)... Newt on the other hand was banging aides too AND hypocritially trying to have a political opponent removed from office for the exact same thing. You can't see a destinction there? I guess you neocons are so used to hypocrisy you wouldn't notice it if it bit you in the ass...
durhamdf 1 month ago
@durhamdf
Slow down little fella, and think about the words I've written. Nowhere did I state that Bill was convicted on anything. Go back and look.
And I'll say to you again, I make no excuses, and offer no defense for Newt. He's a big boy, and on his own.
My issue is with media conduct. You seem to be fixated on other things.
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny You seem to be obsessed with this mythical liberal media bias. The fact is the Lewinsky Scandal and then the impeachment scandal were the most covered and negative news stories about a sitting president since Nixon! And at the same time nobody was calling Newt out for his hypocrisy in leading the charge against Clinton for his affair while he was currently cheating on his second wife/mistress from his first marriage! Hypocrisy thy name is Republican
durhamdf 1 month ago
@durhamdf
Happy? You win - now go turn on your TV and get your lessons.
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny Don't you understand the point I am making? YOu are arguing that there is a liberal media bias and Republicans are attacked whereas Democrats slide by unnoticed. I am arguing that is ridiculous and as an example, Newt didn't get much attention when he was cheating on his second wife while attacking Clinton for doing the same thing. But Clinton sure as hell found the media spotlight for his infidelities!
durhamdf 1 month ago
@durhamdf
Clinton and Newt aside, do you believe the mainstream media has been objective with Obama and his presidency? Do you think that they have treated Bush and Obama the same? Do you think if Obama had been a conservative republican, he would have received the same type of coverage?
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny No I think the majority is slanted one way or the other. Very few media sources are completely neutral, but it is pretty balanced. Between fox news and virtually every talk radio show making Obama out to be a Muslim, Kenyan, Racist, Communist, socialist etc... and the left leaning and left wing cable news shows acting like Obama is god can do no wrong we pretty much have a wash.
durhamdf 1 month ago
@durhamdf
Is that asking too much?
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny Well shit I agree with you there. The only News sources that I would call objective if not neutral are the Economist magazine and NPR isn't too bad either.

@loetzfan drudge had the story first because they didn't wait for the story to be confirmed. so if anyone is to be "shamed" for yellow journalism in this case, it was drudge.
the perjury thing is a smokescreen. conservatives never talked about perjury with clinton, they blathered about clinton damaging the institution of marriage, and only started talking about perjury once their own indifference to the institution of marriage was pointed out.
highway234 1 month ago
@highway234 Actually, you couldn't be more wrong. It was the Republicans who constantly stressed the legality and perjury issues since they were the ones impeaching and it was the Democrats who used the sex as a smokescreen. Do yourself a favor. Go back and read the transcripts for Clinton's Impeachment. It will illustrate how completely full of shit you are as well as possibly actually give you a glimmer of insight into the matters you are trying to discuss with me.
loetzfan 1 month ago
@loetzfan i'm not talking about the legal pretense of the republican hitjob against clinton. i'm talking about how they sold it publicly, and they always did so by talking about the sanctity of marriage. it was only after the story of gingrich's (and several other republicans') infidelities came to light that they started talking about perjury. they'd gone on a fishing expedition, couldn't get him on whitewater but could violate his privacy thencorner him on a technicality. big whoop.
highway234 1 month ago
@highway234 "conservatives never talked about perjury with clinton," I think you yourself have been pretty much forced to disown this original charge.
"they'd gone on a fishing expedition" Ken star was ordered to investigate the possible perjury by Janet Reno on conclusion of his Whitewater investigation. Therefore and predictably your current charge is factually wrong. Again, a slight familiarity with the facts would help you.
loetzfan 1 month ago
@loetzfan whatever, hack. this is getting so old. go ahead and kiss republican ass all day, for all i care. i've got no use for hacks.
highway234 1 month ago
@highway234 If Clinton doing something that would have gotten him fired from any company, then lying about it under oath, then lying to his own cabinet so they would defend him with their own credibility as he lied to the American people bold faced for 7 months ultimately resulting in his Impeachment, contempt of court, a huge civil penalty to Paula Jones and his disbarment to practice law is "big whoop", then how can you log in here and pretend to be mad about Newt?
loetzfan 1 month ago
@loetzfan anyone who says the clinton thing was about his perjury, not his infidelity, is being fundamentally dishonest. talk to just about any lawyer, they'll tell you they never prosecute perjury charges based around protecting hidden infidelities, because the offense is so petty. you must be a real dyed-in-the-wool partisan hack. the sort who holds democrats accountable for things you'd never hold republicans accountable for. i have no respect for that.
highway234 1 month ago
@highway234 For the record, I think Newt is nearly as big a scumbag is Clinton and would never vote for him. You call Clinton's perjury, many affairs and rapes, lying to the country and a Grand Jury "big whoop" while pretending to be mad at Newt for much lesser things. You can be a hypocritical little bitch if you want, but then to call me the partisan hack who doesn't hold people equally liable when you have been talking about yourself the whole time is just pathetic. 2012 has brought to life the American who is aware that journalism is officially dead and do not trust anything they say.
Pulling out an OLD bitter ex is now considered journalism? Sad!
ladylordess 1 month ago 2
@ladylordess Well, given Newt Gingrich's sanctimonious, hypocritical persecution of everyone around him for violating the sanctity of marriage, the fact that he's a sad, self-centered womanizer with no respect for the institution himself and no love for anyone except his own pathetic, degraded, worthless, shriveled up self is definitely relevant. gingrich is a sickening, sickening man, and his ex really drives that point home.
highway234 1 month ago
@highway234
You are clearly missing the point of this comment. The poster is not defending Newt. They are lamenting the fact that "journalists" (and the media) has resorted to these shameless tactics. If you would ease-up on the Kool-aid just a bit, read slowly, and sound-out all the words, you might get the point of what's being said.
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny gingrich's shameless attempts to police the personal lives of others makes his own personal life fair game. generally i don't care if someone "served" but if you're a pro-war politician, it matters if you dodged the draft. i don't care what someone drives but if you claim to be an environmentalist politician, it matters if you drive an SUV. it matters that newt is a serial philanderer, and there's no way to know he is unless it gets reported and asked about.
highway234 1 month ago

@watcherjohnny @watcherjohnny you have no way of knowing the intentions of the person asking the question. if he'd had a good answer to the question, it wouldn't have "wounded" him or "biased" the viewer. but he didn't, so it wounded him and it was a wound well deserved.
the press, a lapdog for the left? they covered the lewinsky scandal for years, they helped lie us into war with iraq, they hardly covered the NDAA indefinite detention provisions ... sorry, that's preposterous.
highway234 1 month ago
@highway234
I'm not sure you watched the same debate as I yesterday evening, but I don't believe most viewers, with leanings to the right, believed Newt was wounded by the exchange. What has raised their ire is the conduct of the media, and the blatant ATTEMPT to embarrass and wound.
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny well, the right loves to cry about the press. it's kinda a craven tactic, but if you would like to see poor gingrich be protected from being asked about these perfectly legitimate allegations in the primary debates i think you'll find he'll be destroyed by them in the general campaign. he's a dead man walking, election wise, and his failed marriages are a big part of the reason why. CNN's probably doing the repubs a favor by driving that nail in his coffin now.
highway234 1 month ago
@highway234
I wish you well.
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny i'm still not clear why you think gingrich should be protected from his marital conduct, when he is perfectly comfortable making political hay out of the marital conduct of others. you keep seeing "advocacy" in this, and i'd agree with you if the allegations were false or not germane, but no one's even arguing this. so it was a fair question, and i have no idea why you think otherwise.
highway234 1 month ago
@highway234
Make an effort to see the bigger picture here!
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny i'm sure ANY controversial opening question would change the dynamics of any debate. doesn't mean the question shouldn't be asked, or that we should insulate certain candidates from certain questions because they don't have good answers for them. I'm not sure why santorum or anyone else couldn't follow up on the issue simply because the moderator had asked about it too. i dunno, this is super-speculative stuff, man.
highway234 1 month ago
@highway234
That's all I'm saying.
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny any controversial question could "change the dynamics of the debate." what, you want the press to stick to asking candidates what their favorite color is and whether their biggest flaw is that they work too hard? "neutral" is not the same thing as "neutered." it would be one thing if it were an "are you still beating your wife" question but it's a completely fair question based on something his ex-wife said the night before, and i notice he didn't even refute the accusation.
highway234 1 month ago
@highway234
It's pandering, plain and simple for me.
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny "ambush"? do you really think gingrich didn't antipate a question like that? he'd be a fool not to. in fact, his whole phony outrage tantrum he went into to avoid answering the question felt rehearsed. anyway, i can't believe you don't think it's important whether this sanctity of marriage, family values guy solicited his wife for an open marriage. it would make him a total hypocrite, and that matters. but to you, the question shouldn't even be asked. that's amazing to me.
highway234 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny here's a comparison to consider: what if john edwards had stayed in politics after we'd found out that he was just waiting for his cancer-ill wife to die so he could sack up with his mistress? (this is very close to what gingrich did to his first wife.) and then, what if, during a campaign debate, he had NOT been asked about this? how much you wanna bet you would have been saying the "liberal" media was protecting him? lol.

JaeEffingKae 1 month ago
@yourtreat2 Ron Paul is hardly racist compared to the rampant bigotry of every other candidate.

GOPkicksbutt 1 month ago
@GOPkicksbutt i have a better idea: if you're a working class or middle class guy, just send a check equal to the value of your savings to the multimillionaire of your choosing -- and while you're at it, give him your house and car -- and wait for it to trickle back down on you. it would amount to much the same strategy as the one you suggest. but i rather suspect you're having a laugh, so...

Yeah. Lenders like the banks, mortgage companies, as well as, the deregulation of these industries, spurred on by the morons like Regean, Newt, GWB, and Obama were

Too bad the "unbiased media" is slanted so noticeably to the "port side of the ship".
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny Gingrich regularly uses other people's personal lives as a bludgeon to try and destroy them. He's earned this treatment, and i see absolutely nothing wrong with pointing out his sickening hypocrisy. Yellow journalism suits yellow human beings, and Newt Gingrich is definitely one of those.
highway234 1 month ago
@highway234
Well, at least you are forthcoming enough to freely admit to fully support media bias. Most of your ilk deny it even exists. Thank you for stepping forward!
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@watcherjohnny what's biased about it? was it biased when the press covered the monica lewinsky scandal nonstop for years? what's biased is people saying gingrich's personal life should be ignored when he constantly noses into other people's personal lives. HE has made his indifference to the institution of marriage an issue, not CNN or anyone else, by using marriage as a political weapon. would you silence journalists who ask him about it?

@highway234
Instead, its conduct is more akin to an "ankle biting little lap dog of the left".
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
@durhamdf
@durhamdf exactly.
highway234 1 month ago
@durhamdf
@durhamdf
By the way, profanity only detracts from your arguments.
watcherjohnny 1 month ago
