@Evil5partan If you are on the 12th floor and you press the down button, the elevator will come to the 12th floor. You then press the 1st floor button while in the elevator and go there.

I can understand that having a depth of knowledge or a certain strategy is good, but having a general breadth of knowledge on the game is good aswell.

In League of Legends there are 91 Champions to date, and as a new player its confusing to know what each champion does, But have that knowledge of 'this champion does these set of skills' is good know cause then you know what your up against. But knowing everything about each champion is obviously ridiculous.

@DontForgetTheG Hey, that's a good point but I don't think it contradicts what day9 said. In LoL, as in DotA you need to know what each champion does so you can play against them (breadth of knowledge) but you need to spend the rest of the time getting to be an excellent player with 2-3 characters rather than a decent player with all. So again depth > breadth (but some breadth is necessary)!

From my knowledge of fighting games (Dragonball Z Budokai lol) people up in the air and falling can't really do anything in the meantime, so when your knives sustain their flight and you just pound them they can't do anything. The main thing is forcing them to actually get into that trap, which is the general strategy.

@BILBOBAGGINS343 Depends on how good the trick is. One of the best team in MvC2 is Magneto, Storm, Psylocke. The whole point of this team was to hit you and get you in an infinite and win without you being able to play. This is also a trick, but its a SUPER cheap trick and one of the best tricks in the game. You could literally win games without having too much knowledge if you were really good with this team.

The "4 move checkmate" was a bad example for the "trick" vs "process" discussion. You say it's a "trick" that people somehow randomly know, but really it's the result of the "process" of analyzing the pieces and their positions on the board. (2100+ USCF rated player here)

not only is that riddle fucked because the riddler withheld info, but also from an elevator design point. I have NEVER stepped into an elevator in which the highest and lowest floors were not at the bottom of the panel. If there's 12 floors, there'd be 2 columns of 6 buttons, going clockwise, 1 and 12 at the bottom.

I hate riddles like that too, cuz all they do is make the riddler feel clever at the listeners expense
