A lot of critics here, and for sure their bad German pronunciation does not suit the otherwise very good performance. But listen to the blend and balance of the voices, the flexible way the music moves forward, rises and falls and doesnt get slowed down, and they never fall out of tune. There arent many better versions on youtube, if you are willing to accept some shaky German.

A lot of problems with German pronunciation. "En-geln" should be sung "Eng-geh-ln" not "Eng-gah-ln". They're singing "BA-holen" when it should be "Beh-holen". Men are singing "dich" with a short and strong "i" like in "it" when the i should actually be sung with more of an "e" sound. "Wegen" should be sung "geh-n" not "gae-in". They're trying to keep "e" sounds open but they're too open and making them complete "ah" vowel sounds instead of singing "e" vowel with dropped jaw.

This was excellent. I must say. After having read so many negative comments I listened with a critical ear but could not find too much wrong with the German language which I can also speak and understand. Also the negative statements about the conductor I found quite unfounded.

Eine musikalisch - wie ich finde - sehr gelungene Interpretation; insbesondere die Intonation ist einwandfrei. Die Aussprache fällt dagegen ab - von "verhüten" habe ich zwar nichts gehört, aber das "dich" wird in der Tat zu einem steten "dick". Dagegen kann man aber auch als Belgier etwas unternehmen.

@Aeoline91 i am native german speakers, and i have listened to many many many interpretations/performances (not especially of this choral, but also of this one) that were sung in german by non native speakers and which i was really impressed of for the nearly perfect pronouciation

@Aeoline91 dann solltest du mal auf youtube nach anderen motetten (nicht unbedingt bruckner) oder chorälen oder ähnlichem suchen (wichtig: a capella) und dir da bekannte ensembles/chöre anhören, die zum Teil aus Asien, Amerika oder England stammen und trotzdem so gut deutsch singen, dass man keinen Unterschied zu Muttersprachlern hört.

Bei diesem Video fehlt es zum Beispiel an Konsonaten: "...dass sie di behüten" 0:32 - das ch ist komplett verschluckt...

@Sil5ie Ich kenne eine Menge anderer Interpreationen, aber trotzdem ist das mit die beste, selbst wenn mal das "ch" fehlt...Akzente haben doch auch was...

@Aeoline91 ich sage ja nichts gegen die (klangliche) interpretation, aber von der aussprache her ist es eindeutig ziemlich schlecht, im vergleich mit vielem anderen was ich auf youtube gehört habe.

Die kommen nicht aus Belgien, wo man zum Teil Flämisch spricht, was dem Deutschen sehr ähnlich ist, sondern aus Kuba... Ich finde die Aussprache wesentlich besser ;)
