  • 3DS can last longer too if you turn off the 3d functions.

  • and who DOESN'T play with the brightness all the way up on the DS

  • really? 3-5 hours is good, if your going to sit around and play it all day you can put it on the charger.

  • my 3ds goes for 10 hours

  • I got 6 hours on my 3ds alone

  • turn the 3d off it will save battery

  • I hate when i fart and some shit comes out.

  • I don't like your face!

  • Nyko power pak is amazing. Costs $8 on Ebay, gives nine hours of life at the cost of some added bulk.

  • its battery life is great

  • PS Vita will be better! :P

  • @arrivederciliebe32 guess now you heard that the vita has been announced to actually have worse battery life lol

  • @badams2190 depending on the settings its about the same.

  • I have a 3DS, and this is the only thing I hate about the system. And that is the battery life.

  • Frankly, a third party battery is the best bet. (at launch that is)

  • Thats why I'm waiting a couple years to get a 3ds. Also I'm kinda disappointed about the fact that te screen on the 3ds is smaller then my dsi xl. I know its not a big deal but Iwent from a ds lite to a dsi xl,also I'm waiting to see f they come out with more colors.

  • buy a CTA external battery charging cradle. Doubles life

  • i get 2-3 hours with everything on full

  • lmao, iTrouble

  • 3-5 hours is alot for me,plus if i am gonna play for long peiods of time ill just use the charger,i know this is for comedy and i totally respect that,i personally dont find it bad as other people say, great video in a whole though

  • chatter box keep talking mn

  • Take out this video

if you read some comments, you will realise that this is the battery life for highest light setting.

Even if the 3DS will get a DSi counterpart or a XL version, this will happen after 1-3 years. Are you going to save money for that? And the XL version was just for people who play at home and for Adults which have larger hands.

  • playing while charging sucks balls. l dont want to stand in an uncomfortable area to play something. 3ds needs more battery life. dont care how it can fit sleek in a pocket. nintendo should make it bigger for a bigger battery

  • @coldsoldier12 Can't really be a good system if it can't stay on for a proper amount of time.

  • ..why do you play 3ds with highest brightness level and wifi and local networks but not ds? calm down about the battery life, jesus christ.

  • i dont always buy the upgrades. i bought the dsi cuz my ds lite recently got the top screens colors messed up, the hinge broke off, and the shoulder buttons dont work. it coniently happened wen the dsi came out.

  • My 3DS is charging again after (I think) 2-3 (or some more min.) of playing. That's enough for me. thumbs up if you agree =D

  • well when a new one comes out I'll drop my old one 50 times then get future shop to pay me 250 Bucks then buy a new one with better battery and stuff

  • 3-5 hours? are you kidding? its only got 2-3 and a half hours...we can dream of 5 hours tho

  • @AtomicFAILMediaTV play while its charging

  • Im making a custom pack that will run it for a week! Using five 3800mah lion batteries

  • Yes, I have a 3DS and yes the battery life stinks. I get 6 hours of battery life AT THE MOST with lowest brightness,no wireless and few to no 3D... It IS dissappointing. I get about 4 hours with Internet activated, 5 hours with Local Wireless activated, and 5:30 hours on DS games.

  • @Weegee9005 Have you Everthough of playing while its CHARGING?

  • @littlefishkid It's really bad for when you go on trips, especially when flying on a plane for 10 hours. Then, it'll only last half the trip :P

  • @xxMasterOfSlayingxx ya ikr lol

  • If you don't like it, vote with your wallet. I'm gonna wait for the 3DS Lite

  • im gonna buy 3ds lit

  • Just have to get one of thows battery upgrades what r comeing out.

  • i got mine a week ago and it died on me about 1 min before a save point.... I was playing about 90% of the time with no volume what so ever and i got just under 3 hours

  • then they should make a 3dsxl

  • triple you battery life with this thing called the 3ds battery expander by PowerPlay

  • to be fair nintendo did try to increase the battery life but the 3d takes a lot of juice if they try to increase the battery even more the system will cost $300!!

  • I'm getting my 3ds at the end e3 2011 just to see if they are releasing another 3ds :)

  • Could you speak louder? I couldn't quite hear you in the video.

  • I ordered a battery from wiiworldstore supposedly it is a higher grade compacity one which offers 20 hours of battery life continuous play unlike the nyko which looks bulky and gives you the options of ugly battery with no 3ds back plate or find a alternitive and i finally found one now theres the one from the wiiworldstore with supposed 20 hours continuous or you can purchase a 2000 mah li-ion battery from this one store ill review the battery i ordered if it works as told ill tell you

  • you should not even play the 3ds for that long

  • It's cool: wasn't planning on taking this baby out in public any time soon.

Well, isn't it natural that with more features added, battery life would shorten?

  • From all reports, It looks like you get less than 5 hours with everything turned off (3D, wifi, brightness turned low). With everything on, you get about 2 to 2.5 hours.

  • Nintendo said that they wouldn't release a "3DS Lite"

  • @Darkhyrule333 I got it off from a forum discussing the battery life

  • That's why I'm getting the Nyko battery pak...supposed to replace the Nintendo battery for twice the battery life (though it does make the system thicker :/

  • Well, don't buy the 3DS. Wait for the new version...

  • acctualy 3.22-5.12 hours with 3D on, wifi on, max brightness for 3DS games

  • 3-100 hours with 3ds off

  • @LuisStorm you mean infinite

  • @LuisStorm lol

  • if you press 2 he will say ASS

  • Well, I have to say this but if you look on the 3DS site, it says that the wireless is on and at full brightness and 3D. They didn't test it properly. So I am not worried about the battery life of the Nintendo 3DS.

  • Hmmm.. i dont really watch rants.. But Nintendo is NOT making another 3DS system, the reason why they made the DSI is that it would get the Buyers of the DS to get to now the features a little bit more so there comfortable with the 3DS.. Nintendo has done this before with the GameBoy! Now listen, When the gameboy came out there was no color, Now nintendo made the GameBoy Lite(This Handheld never made it to US.) so the buyers are comfortable with getting the GameBoy Color....

  • dud think about it Light, Double screen, 3D, i mean whos gonna sit their for 5 hours any way and play it stright so when your not playing use the prtable charger :)

  • lol when the 3ds comes out the new one might be called 3ds lite

  • @coldsoldier12

You don't really understand the word "portable", do you?

  • Every single portable from Nintendo has been redesigned atleast 2 TIMES! Nintendo also has a terrible track record with the VC on the Wii. Anyone who picks this up on launch day and wants to rant about how disappointed they are can suck dick. Wait for Nintendo to prove the new VC if that's what you're buying it for. Wait for the redesign if you want more battery and perhaps a wider 3D viewing angle. I ain't giving any company shit unless the show me what I wanna see.

  • do you experct better from the NGP? it will be the same if not worse.

  • You did... some research... sort of. The 3-5 hours battery life is on the highest brightness settings while using wi-fi on Max volume without headphones.

  • how much battery life do you think i'd get if i just turned the brightness to its lowest setting?

  • the battery test was done not to long ago.

it will last 4hrs BUT thats if the 3D is on MAX and the brightness is on MAX

so u shouldnt be worked up over it anymore.

  • Im pretty sure the 3-5 hours is with the 3DS's brightness and volume turned to MAX. Just like the dsi and ds lite if you play on middle brightness setting your gonna get more battery life. Besides 3-5 hours of gaming a day is plunty for most people. And if your worried about battery life on long trips. Turn off the wifi and 3d and set the brightness low and use head phones you could probably squeeze another 2-3 hours out of the battery life.

  • 3-5 hours is still good.

  • iwata has said they have no plans in making an upgraded 3ds any time soon at all. they said they made the 3ds as finalized as they possibly could. so if we even get an upgraded system, it wont be for another 2 to 3 years from now. and 3-5 hours isnt bad. my psp 3000 is 3-5 hours. thats perfect for me. also ngamer(a duetch nintendo review site) has a review build of the 3ds, and they tested the battery. with the wireless turned off and the brightness and 3d at full blast it'll lasts 4 hours.

  • They tested it... Its about 4 hours with everything on fully max! So if you lower the parts of the system, it could last longer than 5 hours, heck it could last to 8 hours!

  • We don't know exactly how the battery life will be. 3-5 hours is an estimate, so it'll most likely be better than that. I assume it's gonna be like the PSP's battery life, which isn't bad. Besides, what normal human being plays games for 5 hours straight, especially on-the-go when you're on the bus or train or waiting in a patient room. Not only that, handhelds have chargers nowadays. It's not like the Game Gear where you have to keep buying a chunk of AA batteries.

  • GOOD NEWS

3-5 hours with 3D on, wifi on, max brightness for 3DS games

    3-8 hours with 3D OFF

3-10 hours with wifi OFF, and 3D OFF

3-12 hours with 3D OFF, Wifi OFF, Brightness to its lowest setting.

3-8 hours for regular DS games

    3-12 hours with 3D OFF

3-14 hours with 3D and wifi OFF

3-15 hours with 3D off, wifi off, and brightness set to its lowest setting.

    :) im sooo buying it

  • @UltimateGCX do you mind sharing with me where you got this info?

  • @UltimateGCX

What's your source? And why is 3 hours the minimum you get on everything you mentioned? Seems like if you turn all this crap off, your minimum should rise above 3.

  • @xRapidDavex idk i just like starting out with the lowest number lol but the point is, is that the battery life can increase if u shut off some of the features

  • @UltimateGCX

So you're not going to cite your source for these number? I'll continue to assume you just pulled them out of your ass.

  • @UltimateGCX whats with everything being 3-#? LoL

  • @Andyhan990 shhh!! im an undercover battery agent! are you trying to get me exposed!? 0.0

  • Comment removed

  • Wait...Think about it...the 3ds has a whole crap load of new features original Dsi and DS systems DON'T have...I mean come on 3D, Augmented Reality, better wi-fi, acceleromator (I think I spelt it wrong) Gyroscope, 1 normal camera, 2 3d camera's and the new circle pad, 3D games, What did the DSI have well I don't really know but I'll guess Wi-fi, 2 cameras, a few brightness levels..yeah..now for the DS not much stuff except no wi-fi and just for games and touch screen!

  • @UltimateGCX Is that real? if so, where did you get the info from??? I really hope it is real. Im trusting you :) :) :)

  • @iwanabrawl From a forum discussion board, this question was answered by a nintendo employee

  • @UltimateGCX me too

and who cares about battery life that much xD ill play it at the docking station at home anyway and as a student i dont have enough time to play 8 hours daily anyway so who cares^^

  • @UltimateGCX

Where did you get these numbers from?

  • @June28July -sigh- i just said it.......

  • @UltimateGCX that 3 to 15 hours is bull shit i have all that turned off and its dead in about 5 hours of gameplay. dont give people false hope...

  • @UltimateGCX where'd u get those numbers? : O

  • @UltimateGCX All that info is wrong...

  • @UltimateGCX OR You can turn on anything you want while CHARGING IT. Jesus christ why dont people think of that?

  • @UltimateGCX thats not true

  • Is the battery life based on max. brightness? Max. 3D? If so it will be just like the DSi, with 9-14 hours on minimum brightness. Nintendo won't make a console with a life that short! Wake up, people!

  • Shame that battery life sucks.I mean developers should think of this because if its a portable system no matter how great it is its almost pointless if battery life is short because thats the point of portable system taking it everywhere you go and play it because at home I would obviously rather play home console.and I could careless about all the wireless shit if it only makes already short battery life even shorter.

  • is stead of you thinking that you know that everyone has there brightness down let me tell you this thats for peaple that dont have a strong eyes and dont want to hurt them

  • good video!

  • i use my DSi on wifi and have the britness setting up all the way and still never need to charge it when i need to

  • Totally true!!!

Personally I love Nintendo too but I really hope the 3DS is better than the DSi because I've had mine for about two years now and I keep real good care of my systems and won't let anything happen to them and somehow both my L and R buttons don't work and the mic is broken!!! Maybe I just got a messed up system but I don't know... We need more than 3-5 hours!!!

  • They've announced that with the 3d turned off, it's about 8 hours, s that makes it better

  • @vanburen20 Great rant. Also I'm hoping for Nintendo to release a battery pack to make the battery life longer just like Sony did for the PSP.

  • thats going to suck for traveling

  • @masterYOUtob

not for me, most places i go are only 3 hours away, so its fine for me

  • The battery life is a bit of a shock but It doesn't stop me from wanting this baby. 3-5 hours is enough for me i guess. I love all the Nintendo things you have. Its nice to see someone that loves Nintendo and not Sony or MS for a change.

  • It looks like you got a new camera and place to film, looks way better than before

  • I have a question!

Does the 3DS have the option to TURN OFF the 3D motion?

  • @kelsmed yes, you can turn the 3D effect off.

  • @kelsmed yup

  • @kelsmed Dude, just write nintendo 3DS hardware demo. It

s all there, except for the release games

  • @kelsmed yes it does

  • IT PISSES ME OFF *THROWS HAT*

  • that's a great backdrop

  • If they announce a model with better battery life for release by the end of this year,cI'm gonna get that one. Or maybe I'll end up getting the original.

  • So that's another way to extend the DSi battery life: turn off the wireless communications. But still, I only got the DSi in December 2009, and now the 3DS is coming sometime this March...woe is me. :/

  • Well unless you intend to wear glasses for the rest of your life 3-5 isn't bad. 3D for an extended period of time isn't conducive to good eye sight anyway.

  • i dont think the battery life is that bad, i aint gonna play games for 3-5 hours straight anyway lol

  • cant u play while its charging or did they change the charger

  • @coldsoldier12 of course it will be....just very disappointed on the battery life!

  • @vanburen20 o well not like i leave my home much =D

  • @vanburen20 I doubt many people will be using their 3DS on the maximum brightness and volume on the speakers, so the 4 hour battery life will be at the most battery-wasting settings you could ever use.

  • @vanburen20 well look at it this way, u could jsut get the carcharger/wall charger and fuck shit up like that eh?

    i wasnt a 3ds soooo damn bad

  • @vanburen20 There is the Nyko Battery Pack. Which I think is like 9 hours.

  • @vanburen20 Have you ever tried charging while playing? -_-

  • arent you being a little to hard.

    < : /

  • Well I rather keep it Charging when I play it then.....

  • MAN,the 3DS Is ALREADY giving us bullshit,AND IT'S NOT EVEN OUT YET!! FAIL! i almost don't even wanna get one now!! -_-

  • doesnt seem that bad......

  • nice ending but yeah its probably the 3DS cranked to the max is 3-5 hours

  • i understand where your coming from but dude, theres so many extra things on the 3ds, the grafics are gonna be amazing for a hand held and the 3d effect makes the system have to prosess every thing twice besides thats why nintendo is giving us that cool charging stand

  • then dont buy it, honestly i dont care, i wont take my 300$ 3DS on a "road trip" or something stupid like that, im gonna play it at home.

  • Wow. This is gonna suck for road trips. :(

  • Nice rant dude. If nintendo says that they are gonna do something than they should keep their word.

  • i dont think the battery life will be 3-5 hours, it just cant be. but with nintendo's conference on the 19th in new york , we should get more details about that

  • @ominousyoshi Exactly, the 3 to 5 hour thing is most likely if you have the 3DS cranked up to the max.

He's over reacting, just like in that Donkey Kong Country Returns video.

    Miyamoto isn't a liar.

  • @LyokoWarrier1fan it was released in a conference its sadly only 3-5 hours according to what Ive seen

  • @vanburen20 I bet that that is with all the settings turned up to the max. That's how long my DSi lasts with all the settings turned up to the max.

  • @LyokoWarrier1fan thats ur dsi not the 3ds... The 3ds is gonna be a poweful beast, which is great! But what comes with power comes with a cost of battery life

  • @vanburen20 I know the battery life will be shorter, I'm just saying it'll most likely be longer than 3-5 hours when you reduce the brightness, 3D, etc. 5 hours is still pretty good IMO, I always bring my DSi charger to places just in case.

  • I'd be a f#*king idiot to play games on a hand held with brightener screen. Seriously, when i got my first ds lite, i was blown away on how they made the screen crystal clear when i play my gameboy advance games. It was hell of alot better then my old gameboy advance Sp. I wasn't interested on the dsi. If you are a big fan of Gba games, I recommend you keeping the old ds or ds lite.

  • @vgspazman Ever heard of the GBA SP Plus? The one with the properly backlit screen?

If you are a big fan of GBA games, get the SP Plus. You can play Gameboy Color and multiplayer on it too, unlike the DS/ DS Lite.

The 3DS has backwards compatibility with DS games, and there will be a download service like the Wii's Virtual Console that will allow you to get retro handheld games (GB, GBC, GBA, etc.)

  • 5:36-5:44 Haha.

    vanburen20's rage

  • HAHAHA someone's pisssseed
