This is EXACTLY what I have been trying to convey to "real-life" friends of mine who don't understand why I vlog or why I interact with internet friends I've met through YouTube. Over two years ago, I joined YouTube to share silly videos with my real-life friends. However, as time went on, I started to make videos to share with potential friends. The vlogbrothers also inspired me. I gained a handful of subscribers---some who have become wonderful friends of mine.

Hey Karen, I caught this documentary on Nerdfighters-- well done! I feel more inspired to start vlogging myself after watching this.

I'm really psyched up about it. I feel like a lot of vloggers use Macs, but I don't have one! Do you know what alternatives PC users have?

I've been using my mom's Dell Inspiron 1420 w/ built in webcam and then editing with Windows Movie Maker.

Before then I was using a digital camera that also recorded video and then uploading from that.

Some people also use separate webcams that can be plugged into the computer

I'd actually say that most of the vloggers you see on youtube DON'T use macs.

I personally just use a digital camera on the video setting, and I edit in Sony Vegas Pro 8, but I used to edit in windows movie maker.
