gosh, people are really critical :P it's an interesting break from our dull reality, good acting and interesting plot, what's there not to like? :) V, FlashForward, and LOST are the only t.v. shows I'll even bother to watch. they're THAT good. seriously.
"They" gave us "hope"? Come on ABC, why are you trying to crap this teabagesque dribble down our throats? Couldn't you just leave contemporary politics out of the writing and quit insulting the intelligence of Americans with whatever your manipulative agenda is? Do you expect Joe-merica to equate progressive ideas like universal health care, HOPE & peace with a reptilian plot to take over & destroy America (I mean the world)? What's up next week, an attack on immigration? Yeah...
I just watched the pilot. I am a progressive liberal and a sci-fi fan so I am still wary about this, but really intrigued. I agree that it is potential like throwing gas on the more paranoid elements of our society who are sure that all change is the destruction of everything we hold dear.
But based on the pilot I think the actual politics of the show could be more muddled, if equally contrived and unbelievable/unrelatable.
A good looking, charismatic new leader comes out of nowhere and pushes a message of "hope & change" and promises a better future that includes health care for everybody. The news media loves the new leader and even complies when the leader asks "please don't ask me any questions that will show us in a negative light".
But the good part is that even some of the "Visitors" are turning against their fearless leader......Hmmmmm why does this all sound sooooooooo familiar?
This show was MEANT to be advertised with Muse, seriously, PERFECT fit.

Not to mention in the old show, the uniforms of the aliens were red, and now they're suddenly (and for no reason) blue? Riiiiight.... silly ABC.
