I have this game onabandonware site but I have not your smooth, no sound (just the sound of weapons, the noise of engine is just the beep, beep, beep) and not the graphics that you have in side view (partly the cockpit) Can you tell me where you got your sim please (website)? thanks ;0)
@vintagemanV I ran it in VGA mode (lowres) this way you can see cockpit struts in side views. Set your cycles to 20000, and to get decent sound make sure that the av8b.bat file which you start your game with, contains:
"@echo off
call anim.bat
sndtsr.exe
call fly.bat"
check if 'fly.bat' has "fly32.exe" in it without 'v' at the end (so you get VGA and not SVGA). I got my version from 'home of the underdogs' site long time ago.
@AverageGamer2009 Just type install and follow on screen instructions. Note that if using dosbox and you're installing from HDD (not the floppy) you have to mount the install directory to different drive than the destination drive inside the dosbox.
@damsonn I don't have any other drives, only the HDD. When I use a flash drive, it leaves me with the A:, B:, and Z: drives. Z's the "Master Drive", so there's no way that I can install it there (That I know of!). It can't be installed onto a floppy... WHAT DO I DO?!
@Digolgrin you can mount the install directory to a different drive inside dosbox, for example 'mount [here enter the path of install directory] A:' . Then change drive letter to A: inside dosbox and install from there. If you still have problems you can google for pre-installed version on some abandonware site. Just unpack and play.
I really enjoyed this game back in the day. Liked the fact that you could actually coordinate ground units. The A-4s weren't a real issue but the F-16s always gave me trouble.
Wow. I cant believe it. I played it on Amiga 500. I loved the Game an sometimes still think of it. The Combination of Flightsim and strategic control was awsome. Seeing it now brings back lots of Memorys. Can`t believe its 20 Years since then!
@Hairysteed Good remark - the flight model is very fluid and feels more realistic than any other title released in early 90's, even Falcon 3.0 on HighFidelity setting.
this was an awesome game. You were a commander and it was a hell of a task and then a very nice flying sim, loved those SAM destroying missions..I actually never won, I always used excessive force lol I think I still have it somewhere, but I have never been able to play it under windows, eventho I tried and look in the net for patches or something to no avail. So if anyone knows, please let me know.
Indeed Wild Weasel missions were intense. Waiting for spikes to show up on RWR, then engaging SAM launchers with HARM missiles and evading incoming SAMs at the same time. I'm glad I could remind you of this great sim. Good hunting ;)
thanks for posting it!! Me and a friend have wondered for a long time why there is no modern version of this game, it was as good as it gets, I´ve spent so many hours playing this game....I remember hating windows XP just for this single reason and kept and old pc for years just to play this game!!
Wow. great flying, and for standerds now, this sim is crap and garbage, but for its day, when it was made i mean, it mustve been a pinnicle of simulation.
Man i'm glad i started with jane's f-15, i would never be able to play with graphics like this, the best i can go back is f-18 korea/a-1- cuba! graphics, any less i don't even bother.
Well I started with F-19 Stealth Fighter and F/A-18 Interceptor way back on Amiga 500, maybe that is why the graphics don't bother me that much. On the other hand great GFX isn't all that makes a good sim. In this case is the immersiveness and decent flight model. And of course the strategy part for the strategy fans.

I am trying to install this on DOS Box but I can't understand how to install it.
I type: Install C: N A but it always says invalid format.
How can I install this game?

@Fenrir555 F-16 were pain-in-the-ass, when they were introduced to the theater I started to loose Harriers.

I played the Mac version "Flying Nightmares." Awesome game, I loved going after the C-130's before they dropped tanks and trucks.
Any recommendations in 2010 for a Airforce Flight Sim ?
mightydesign 1 year ago
@mightydesign Well there is Jet Thunder coming out soon. Check it out. You can find videos on youtube.
There's also DCS A-10 Warthog from Eagle Dynamics.

The handling feels very realistic for a sim of that age!

@damsonn I played my first flight sim at the age of 10. It was Falcon on Amiga 500 followed by Flight Of The Intruder.
Man, we've come a long way since then!! :D
Hairysteed 1 year ago
@Hairysteed Yes we have. Sadly there is less new sims produced every year. But we still have the old ones to fly... thanks for posting.

TOO cool! I really wish I had a chance to play this! looks like it was a very 'immersive' sim for it's day :)
Squog 2 years ago
Indeed it was! You can try to find it on the web, or some auction service, and you can run it on DosBox on modern PC without probs.
