I'm not saying it's okay to hit a person, but this girl was beaten for no good reason at all. The difference between my father and this man, is that this man thrived on hurting his daughter and seemed to love every second of it. That, to me, is worse.

On one occasion he wanted Juanita to swim form their boat and fetch someone on the shore, as there were sharks about, she refused, so he picked her and threw her bodily in the sea. This is plain cruelty, all of it. Every beating is abusive, and so is the intention, and attitude behind them. @lyn7girl I remember seeing this movie during a summer I spent in Britain over 20 years ago, and was absolutely horrified. This so-called father was a P.O.S. who apparently was gratified by watching his daughter get beatings. This took place in 1941, when child abuse was not taken seriously.
Ironically, I read somewhere that Juanita Carberry gave an interview many years later in which she said she does support spanking as punishment, but not to the extent which she was forced to endure.

This guy had NO RIGHT TO DO WHAT HE DID. IF HIS WIFE HAD SEEN WHAT HAD HAPPENED, HE'D BE IN BIG TROUBLE. If I had a relative that did this kind of crap, I PROMISE YOU THAT IT WOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. This man needs serious help, for MIGHT DOES NOT MAKE RIGHT; AS FOR THE HOUSEMISTRESS GETTING CAUGHT "SLEEPING AROUND," SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE IT IN HER EMPLOYER'S HOUSE.......

Just to ask some the people from the U.K. (this is a caning video so I KNOW you are watching :) ). I know that the boys received the cane at school but girls didn't. Did any girls receive the cane at home?

@Kdanc86 I can only answer with what my nana told me while she was with us (Since the use of the cane had been abolished by the time I went to school) Nana used to get a wooden spoon or slipper at home and at school it was a ruler
