how about the european dwarf elder, "danewort" or "danesblood" (sambucus ebulus) are the berries toxic? i have looked on the internet, it's quite confusing, some say they are toxic others say they are not?
I harvest elderberrys almost every fall. It is eaten as a fruitsoup. You cook them, take out the berrys, add sugar, lemon jouice and apples. When you eat it you cruch some rusks on top. It is so so good and is an antioxidants source of proportians. You don´t have to be carefull like tah but you wouldn´t feel like eating it everyday anyways!!.

thanks, always wondered what those berries were and if they were edible.
