  • Dude your legs are impressive. I got 315 for 5 today and was proud of myself @ same bodyweight

  • To Bastionhead,

You have all the right to challenge people to outsquat you.......guess what? Nobody who is natural for life can!!!!!!!! Everything you did is enviable: butt to floor, knees aligned with toes, stance not too wide, no knee wraps, no singlet, negative is controlled, little rest between reps, just a belt....that is squatting perfection.....my best is 280 x 20 at 185....but that was Absolute failure and 10-12 breaths between reps 15-20, not like you...f'in amazing man!

  • This is the TRUTH to all out there....this guy has just completed a feat that VERY few in this WORLD at 190 can do....even with the juice. He is natural for life...which makes it record book material..that's no joke...20 is a trip to hell...but 24! Whoever had posted that he's resting at the top is a complete imbecile and is probably one of those bosu ball idiot "trainers' you see at commercial gyms. He does this in his basement alone, raw, and he really doesn't take many breaths between reps

  • why the belt ?

  • Meh..

  • nice form dude, i nearly came when i saw ur first squat

  • You had me at Alice in Chains

  • i can out squat u... 170lbs... ill be posting videos soon

  • Ass to grass, respects! Excellent form

  • unreal. great work

  • Deep squats, perfect form. At that bodyweight this is an amazing performance. Well done!! I powerlift and can say that this amount of reps if sooo much more taxing on your body and your mind than maxing out with one rep twice that weight.

  • Funny how I got linked to this video from the 'squat 315lbs for 33reps' video:)

Still, Its inspiring to see people warming up with my max.

  • 6 plates rattling out 24 agonizing reps in a garage, nicely done. I'm impressed by the austere simplicity. Do you ever change up the direction your toes point? Noticed they were pointed out and targeting the vastus medialis.

  • get a girlfriend

  • YOUR CRAZY

  • Why don't you just squat less reps and go higher weight?

  • @SweetandSaltyNutbars

    Because that's not as challenging.

  • @bastionhead Idk how it's not as challenging. Do 600 lb back squat if its not challenging. :/

  • @bastionhead That's a load of shit.

  • @bastionhead Dont be scared bro

  • @SweetandSaltyNutbars

b/c higher weight and less reps is WAY easier, This is just one video, maybe he has those days too, but those feats are boring compared to this amzing feat!

  • @SweetandSaltyNutbars because he has better endurance than strength and is the easiest way for him to brag about himself

  • locking knees out... l2squat

  • That my friends is what we call ass to grass... nice.

  • that only thing that is dangerous for your knees when it comes to squatting is; going less than parrallel and letting you knees go to far over your feet. These two things put lots of tension on the knees. Leg extensions are worse for your knees than squats.

  • @danielleece 1.The "letting your knees go too far over your feet" thing is a fallacy, i dont know how that got started but stop believing it. You cant olympic squat properly without doing it. 2. If by going less than parallel you mean going deeper, than you're wrong about that too. Stopping at parallel actually puts more stress on your knees than going below. The most stress occurs when you stop the eccentric portion. The deeper you are, the more this stress is on your hamstrings and ass.

  • this is good stuff. i got 315 for 20 reps and that was hard.

  • playing alice in chains would in the background.... that's a drug!!!

  • Awesome form. Actually taking your time and going down all the way. Most people on here are on drugs, have their legs 9 feet apart and barely get to 90 degrees so this is awesome

  • @RHOTISSERIE

    >squatting bad for knees

    Cite some evidence for that.

    >aesthetics is the only reason to train

    You're a little girl.

    >most people who comment on youtube lifting videos lift

    Ah, haha. Ha.

  • @RHOTISSERIE bc ure a pussy if u dont squat

  • @RHOTISSERIE winning..

  • full second in between each rep.

  • ATG!

  • alice in chains!!!!

  • Good God. You, sir, are intense.

  • Alice in chains ;)

  • if. i . would. could. you? ... nope.... I doubt I could do 225 for 24 reps let alone 315!

  • Good form, and heavy weight.

Funny how everyone who comments on this video is an expert on training.

I'm 37 years, and have been training for 20 years, both martial arts and BB training.

I don't consider myself an expert, but in all my years of training in different gyms, I seldom see anyone who lifts this kind of weight. As a matter of fact I rarely see anyone squatting.

  • after 18 years and your form is still like that? Odd .

  • All of my school

  • Very impressive

  • Excellent form, and great depth. Maybe locking out the knees aren't all that great, still it doesn't take away the great form and depth. Hate all you want but this guy deserves an 'A".

  • impressive bro here

  • nice.

  • ok guys lets just forget about the potential knee issues and focus on what is actually relevant... when u lock out at the top of the squat ur taking all the tension off the quads making it much easier to complete the 24 reps. that being said, im still impressed with the lift man. keep up the natural body building man and perhaps humour me and try coming up just short of locking out, id bet itl be more productive in the long run

  • wwat? ima a freshman in high school and i got 15 reps with 315 no fucking joke i swear on my life

  • You beast. What the fuck do you eat?

  • what's your one rep max?

  • Holy shit that's insane, I wish to be like you.

  • Comment removed

  • Man, how did you get up to this? Seriously impressive work, but how did you get this strong at squatting. I've been squatting for years and can't come close to this

  • I think i could come close :)

  • Nice high bar breathing squats

  • I enjoy watching a good squatting video from time to time, it provides good motivation to go hard in the gym the next day. Thanks for posting this video man.

  • First off, very impressive. Two questions: how tall are you? Does it help you any to squat barefoot?

  • That's great. Who cares what ATP is, debating details. HE"s doing the squats.

  • This video is ridiculous ..the form is perfect and crazy leg drive. i just started to take squatting seriously since its the lift that prob takes the most effort and endurance thru exertion and lactic acid buildup

  • nice set of squats! training at home is the only way to go.

  • dude i love ur squat form but you need to stop locking those knees out, you could do damage over time in my opinion.

  • @ClintsFitness

Well, Mr. Cert3 fitness instructor, just exactly how much time is it going to take for me to start doing this 'damage' that you opine about? Seriously, I want a concrete answer, because I've been a squatting motherfucker for over 18 years and my knees are tippity-top.

And while you're at it, maybe you would like to step up with an ATP lesson, as it seems J0hnny0lives has declined to answer any of my questions.

  • @bastionhead dude dont be such an arrogant fool. if you dont believe that locking your knees can damage them than you just have an ego problem or mental problem. its like brushing your teeth. some people havent brushed there teeth and have never gotten a cavity, that doesnt mean brushing your teeth isnt good for you and not brushing them can give you cavitys. its the same with locking your legs out.

  • @bastionhead I'm up for the challenge. Video coming soon for more then 24

  • @bastionhead What a coincidence -- I'm also 33 and have been squatting for 18 yrs, lifetime drug-free as well. It's rare to meet someone who has been doing this for as long as me. Cheers to longevity!!

  • @bastionhead u've been squating for 18 years? damn thats like x7 the times i squated for my life time lol how old are u??

  • @ClintsFitness

    And one more question:

If I shed body fat, where does it go?

  • @bastionhead don't you breath most of it out as CO2? just found that out lately and it embarrassingly blew my mind, also epic squating, how did you your squats get so far ahead of your pull? I can pull 405x5 pretty well but I doubt I could even break 6 or 7 squats at 315

  • @ClintsFitness man fuck this guy.. he's a dick.. ur just tryin to help. he's lockin out his knees so he can give he legs a break between reps.. he's just pissed off that he spent all his money on 6 plates a squat rack and a bar and now he cant afford a hair cut...

  • @GangstasMind

Maybe if I cut my hair short, that would legitimize my squats?

  • @bastionhead hahaha why the fuck is anyone giving you advise i mean i think you know what youre doing squatting deep as fuck at 315 for 24 reps

  • @bastionhead haha I like the strength plus a sense of humor

  • @GangstasMind yea, this dude, seems to be kinda like a dingleberry. maybe he'll meet a girl one day and lose his virginity.

  • @arkham335 lol.. maybe just maybe... maybe he can squat a 315 lb girl for 24 reps and really impress her

  • @GangstasMind shut the hell up he is doing it right you dont know shit

  • @imhoodable are u like his mother.. or maybe his cousin or something??? y are u getting so defensive? his squat form is good but u cant deny he's resting... and he was being a dick to some dude who was just trying to give constructive criticism. and theres no need for that.. so y dont u just shut the fuck up and mind ur business

  • @GangstasMind

I could definitely afford a haircut if I had a nickel for every time someone who cannot out-squat me insisted on offering "constructive criticism".

  • @bastionhead and i could afford to buy you a haircut everytime someone THOUGHT they could outsquat me...

  • @GangstasMind

You are the dick, in reaility, Locking legs at top does NOT provide a rest. In fact, the low back, abs, and posterior chain take a beating standing there. You're jealous, face it. I challenge you to find a natural lifter and have him squat 315x24 at under 200 pounds, I'll even go 220. You won't my friend!!!

  • @streetoboy2 u shouldnt talkk about things u dont know about. sure the posterior chain is engaged but its FAR from taking a beating. and locking legs out at the top IS creating a break because althought muscles are still stabilizing they are not under direct stress... and i guarantee if you train for high volume you can reach that easily... there are videos all over youtube of guys doing it... so mind your own business

  • @GangstasMind

train for volume....another one of those ignorant phrases that people throw around....oh well, let me know when you find someone who can squat 315 x 24 ass to floor, natural, and weighs less than 200. you cant mofo. See my comments below for further accolades of this guy. I like those people who say don't lock out on squats at the top...they usually don't train hard and heavy enough, or go deep enough, or squat the right way..... Go enjoy your bosu ball squats.

  • @GangstasMind

Yes there are videos....guy does 315x42 reps...juiced and weighs 261. Very impressive...not as good as tis guy. Guy does 473x20...juiced and weighs 268...very impressive but not as good...there is a chinese dud that weighs 150 and squats 225 x 20. very good...have you found someone yet?

  • @GangstasMind

I know about this bro.....I am a natural IFPA pro competitive bodybuilder and competitive powerlifter.....squats and deads are my specialty, so go and talk about something you know about, like bosu ball squats or walking sideways with bands or training with some 20 year old no nothing blonde bimbo trainer at a commerical gym. .

  • @streetoboy2 lol... ifpa pro bodybuilders are a dime a dozen.. u actually wanna compete... join the npc... there are natural npc shows. lol and as much as "you know" u said nothing to actually prove me wrong... so goodnight

  • @GangstasMind Dude , NPC is amateur, there are way more NPC amateur cards out there than there are IFPA pro cards. Any one can pay $90 and compete in an NPC amateur show. To become an IFPA PRO you must FIRST win an open overall title at an OCB amateur show. How many NPC amteurs ever win their IFBB pro card? I rest my case.....once you squat 315x24 and become a pro bodybuilder by winning an open overall title, then we can talk. For now, let's just admit that 315 x 24 is awesome!!

  • @streetoboy2 lol thats my whole point thouigh.. most npc amateurs DONT get their pro card... to be on the local level is easy... to be on the national level in the npc is incredibly difficult... to be an ifbb pro.. damn near impossible... .. "i rest my case"

  • @GangstasMind Okay, we're getting nowhere..I just responded initally to bastionhead praising him for this feat. I then responded to you b/c I thought that you had no respect for a lift of 315x24, like it was easy or a joke; squatting this naturally at 190 is a pipe dream for many. Don't you how hard and rare that is? I thought that you calling him a dick and making fun of his hair was a way dissing the lift. Guess we can stop being juveniles now. Good luck with your training.

  • @ClintsFitness Locking Your knees out creates skeletal frame support. It is GOOOOOD.

  • @ClintsFitness aaaand,,, good job bye the way.

  • @ClintsFitness Locking the knees out does no damage.

  • Great squats. Great form.

  • beautiful

  • Very Good!!!

  • Awesome

  • Good job! I've had ACL reconstruction (non-lifting related injury) so I only go to 90 degrees due to limited ROM.

  • it was more like 6 sets of 4

  • this is kinda not 24 in a row... yes you do do 24 reps but there's times when you're upright for quite a long time... ATP starts being produced after 5 seconds

  • @J0hnny0lives

ATP starts being produced after 5 seconds of what? An what is ATP exactly? Maybe you could explain that in a little more detail?

I am getting a bit rusty on my bioenergetics now, as it has been a few years since I studied biochemistry and exercise physiology at K-State, one of the top exercise science programs in the US. I did ace all my Ex Phys courses, but I only averaged a B+ in my biochem coursework, so I would be grateful for a good thorough review of that material.

  • @bastionhead Adenosine Triphosphate...I guess hes trying to give you a lesson in biology? Good lift, good music.

  • @bastionhead You studied biochem and exercise phys but you don't know what ATP is? That doesn't make sense to me. Most freshmen taking biology in high school know that ATP stands for adenosine triphosphate and is the main energy source of the human body. And no, I can't do 315 lbs 24 times.

  • @giantbryant55

Since J0hnny0lives knows so much about ATP and started to teach me a lesson about how it works, I was just asking him to follow through a little more in-depth.

    Maybe he could answer:

Is ATP perhaps an energy currency, not an energy source? What physiochemical properties of the ATP molecule make it an excellent vehicle for storage and release of energy? What are ADP and AMP and do they possibly also have roles in the biochemistry of high-intensity exercise?

  • @giantbryant55 exactly! i learnt about atp and other energy systems during basic exercise science study whilst doing certificate 3 in fitness to become a fitness instructor/gym instructor

  • @bastionhead hahaha im cert3 quaklified fitness instructor and even i know what atp is lol

  • @J0hnny0lives and @jigc23 - don't criticize until you try it. I've done squat sets like this and it's as much cardio as strength . Depending on rep speed and effort required, anyone will be breathing pretty heavy around 8-10 reps, then huffing and puffing around 13 or so and controlling your breathing becomes quite challenging. The mental aspect is huge, too because most people will want - and most likely will - quit.

  • @J0hnny0lives you're one of a kind idiot. How much you think his body is resting between reps if he got 315 pounds on his schoulders you retard? ATP my ass you phony lunetic.

  • this is awesome, great job

  • I did 5 reps with 315 about 6 weeks back and just about shit myself, I could not imagine the strength it would take to do 24 reps with consistent good form and depth. its like they say, heavy lifting is more mental than physical.

  • 13andincrediblycut can out squat you. Probably with one leg while standing on a basketball, actually. Haha. I sure as hell can't beat it. Nice set, man.

  • Is this a working set or are you just doing 24 reps for the sake of this video? I assume you dont do 24 reps for every set because wouldnt it be more beneficial to do less reps with more weight?

  • CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THE NAME OF THE SONG..... I'M DYING TO KNOW :D

  • @MelodicBlackMedal96

    "Would" by Alice in Chains.

  • @bastionhead THX SO MUCH :P

  • music please?

  • sick FULL squats bro. Just like Mark Ripptoe would like. I can get 315 like 15 times with the same depth as you. Other sqauts are for bitches. I absolutley loved that you had alice in chains would playing in the background. U like soundgarden?

  • Terrific strength ... terrific will and proper form. Too low ... hahaha so y'all think all those olympic lifters do wrong huh? If you wanna develop your legs you gotta bring the knees over the toes ... if y#all haters can't do that do sumthin else but don't teach bullshit. Great vid.

  • Great video, first of all...

Funny how so many fools critizice the "ass to grass" squat. It's obvious they've read it was dangerous and found the perfect excuse not to squat as real men. My question to them is: Who's to say whether or not it's dangerous; the fool writing the article, the fool reading it, or the man who's been squatting successfully long enough to prove them all wrong?!!!

  • First of all , outstanding taste in music . Got me fired up and push myself harder at the gym . Thanks for the inspiration

  • Comment removed

  • @goldtogreysmoke

Though the medical/anatomical mumbo-jumbo excuse-making is admirable, over time it might result in NOT FUCKING SQUATTING, ie. being a weak-minded, credulous pussy who is afraid of effort. Go suck a cruciate ligament.

  • @bastionhead

I think that you have an inspiring power of will and you achieved a lot, but any time if someone is trying to give you some advice you just blow them away in a very rude way. I have been watching your videos for a long time and I thing that you are doing this only to show how great you are and you want only to show yourselfe. You are quite an ignorant. Your physique is impressive, but you should realy do something with your behavior.

  • @apepavaknip

    Not so!

I attack only those who insinuate that my achievements are somehow not legitimate because of some supposed flaw in my technique--while declining to post videos of themselves as proof of their superior method. My rudeness comes out only in response to such baseless insinuations. Of course, it is just jealousy that motivates this "advice" they offer, which is itself invariably baseless tripe parroted from some "expert" who also cannot be seen lifting.

  • @bastionhead Man fuck those haters. There's no flaw in your technique whatsoever. This is one of the best squat I have seen for loooooong time. Each rep is just brutal. Just like olympic weghtlifters all the way down. Do you mind to share with me your squat routine? Once again one of the best squat technique I have ver seen. Check out Tom Platz squat style. Very similar to yours. Good luck my friend.

  • @bastionhead

    exactly

  • @bastionhead HAhahaaaaha! I love it!..

  • @bastionhead dude that is the best response I have ever read for a reason to do real squats, next time some personal trainer dumbass at my university gym comments on my deep depth I will tell him that and laugh at the blank expression he will give me.

  • @bastionhead Lol, Who can outsquat you? A bunch of people i know could, Including myself... Don't be so cocky. You're 190 lbs, Go squat twice your weight atleast for that many reps. I'm 16 , 118lbs and I squat 335 for 20 reps lolz. I think i could go an extra 4 reps .

  • @imvincenzo10

Yes, I'm sure you're 118 pounds squatting 335 for 20 reps. Considering that would be unheard of and an all time world record. Have fun quarter squatting weights you have no business mounting on your back.

As for you baston, amazing work, great form, impressed as fuck. Prime example those old styled breathing squats, right down to the mind numbing pain of those last reps.

  • @goldtogreysmoke theres no real research saying that depth is bad....as long as ur body doesnt feel over worked or in pain you can do this aslong as u want....

  • @stumped1215 You're an idiot. to 90 degrees or higher puts all the pressure on your knees instead of on your hamstrings.

  • You are going to low! Past extension is not impressive but foolish, Imagine if you did it the right way maybe we would be talking 405 24times?

  • @animalinsde06

Yes, I am going to low. But not too low. Do you know the difference?

Imagine I did it the right way? Do you mean by not going "past extension"? Are you suggesting that "extension" in the squat is somewhere other than at the very top of the movement?

Kind sir, perhaps you would be so gracious to simply upload a video of yourself squatting in the correct manner so that foolish, unimpressive squatters like me can get a clue.

Thank you and go fuck yourself.

  • @bastionhead dude you are a major dick

  • @bastionhead

Well i was just sharing my experience no rudeness. You are a big dude don't worry no one was saying otherwise. I am a personal trainer and work in a chain gym so i see chicken legged guys tearing up their knees because they are unexperienced and just copy what they see on youtube. Also I had a younger brother who was squatting in high school and ended up breaking his back b/c of his coach telling him to drop further. Sorry if you felt like i wasn't appreciating your strength.

  • @bastionhead Hahaha. Animalinsde06 sounds like a douche. I like these internet gurus throw words like extension around and have no idea what it means. Those squats were perfect. I am impressed.

  • @animalinsde06 Foolish? HAHAHA! Your going to tell this guy how to squat HAHAHAHA. The squat, the most criticized exercise on youtube. Im willing to bet most of the people who criticize squats are those who are worst at them, and probablly do them the least

    .

  • @animalinsde06 Maybe you should watch some Olympic lifting....perhaps check out brozknows on here (Pat Mendes)...

  • ATG impressive man!

  • diesel

  • please give me tips on how to increase my ass to grass squats?

  • Mad props!

  • How many reps can you do with 175kg (approx. 386lbs)? I've done ten so far...

  • impressive

  • good job those are olympic squats too 2x harder than parallel at least

  • damn proper form ALL the way down old school rock what else can ya ask for?

  • Thought that was 4 plates at first, then I seen clearly it was 6. How the hell you do that? Dude, you're stronger at the low range looks like. You are crazy strong. Yeah and stumped1215 obviously has never gone ATF(a** to floor). I can get twenty though........with 0 pounds.

  • legit work no doubt

  • Comment removed

  • @masterwarcraft3 cool story bro, tell that one at a party...if you ever get invited to one.

  • @stumped1215 I've found that most people who say that squatting too low hurts your knees are chicken legged pansies who are afraid to go deep. It hurts the ole pride to have to drop down in weight. Swallow your pride and do squats right. Full squats are the king of exercises.

  • THIS RIGHT HERE IS WHAT THE FUCK IS UP! ANYONE THINKING THEY HAVE REACHED THEIR MAX LOOK AT THIS, YOU CAN ALWAYS PUSH YOURSELF FURTHER AND GO BEYOND WHAT YOU THINK IS POSSIBLE :)

  • how much extra pounds does the belt add? and do you use running shoes or weightlifting shoes?

  • Much Respect.

  • @stumped1215 Actually only going to 90 degrees puts more stress on the knees according to my Physical Therapist and Orthopedist.

Everyone I've ever heard make that comment (don't go below 90* hasn't known their butt from a hole in the ground.

  • I'm 9 years old and my squat max is 675 and i do it 27 times

  • @diamondsslugger2 Lets see it.

  • @DrumItUp50 I'm just over-exaggerating like everybody else does on youtube...

  • Comment removed

  • @diamondsslugger2 looks like 13andincrediblycut has some competition now

  • r those arnold squats?

  • good job man

  • great squat depth!

  • @stumped1215 Bro you're wrong. Squatting to 90 is anatomicaly the worst position a knee can be in. Squatting below parallel actually helps strengthen the knee joint. Make sure you know what your saying before you give advice.

  • @55AllOut I personally deep squat myself I feel as if it works a greater part of of the quad. BUT if you really think that it is not bad for your knees you are sadly mistaken my friend.

  • @stumped1215 So i see you didnt check your facts like I said you should. I am not sadly mistaken. I am... how would you put it... right. Again, I urge you to check your facts before you go spewing gym idiotness. Dont worry theres tons of studies out there that you can find that show im right.

  • GREAT job dude. Very, very impressive. It takes real guts to go that low. Nice.

  • @stumped1215 Yah... he should, ya know, NOT do this.
