I just happened to glance at the name "Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr." when I was buying a song on iTunes, and I had to check it out.

Clever irony? whats ironic about the name? it would be ironic if they talked about hating nascar, but they are named after a famous nascar driver. you think the name should say something about the band? The Beatles would really suck then.

@Comfortcakcak The Beatles originally were called the Beetles in tribute to Buddy Holly and the Crickets. They later had the clever notion of replacing the second "e" with an "a" to confer a musical sensibility to the title. Obviously, not every great band adopts a clearly defined name, but they usually put some degree of thought into it. Simply attaching "Jr." to a name that already has the suffix implies they did it for the sake of humor not for any grander purpose.

When the name becomes a joke, so does the band and its music, and I do believe their talent merits better consideration than that.

If you want to be taken seriously by the music consuming public, then you'll take your name seriously as well.
