This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, there's this catchy, mellow and soothing energy to it that enhances the entire serene atmosphere it brings. First heard this song on Good Vibes and fell in love with it.
@Comfortcakcak Says the man who is either a member of the band, an associate, or President of the fan club. They should change it while they're relatively obscure.
@Comfortcakcak And you're claiming Dale Earnhardt is NOT a mainstream name?? He's a famous racer whose likeness in no way reflects the sound or meaning of the music produced from the group that has assumed his moniker. Let's face it - it's a meager attempt at clever irony that fails completely and should be undone. There's no other justification or rationale for this choice of title.
@roomie4rent have you heard of many bands that are named after famous nascar drivers? I have not. Justification or rationale? There is no justification or rationale in band names. thats not the point of them. if they were all rational they would be very boring. Clever irony? whats ironic about the name? it would be ironic if they talked about hating nascar, but they are named after a famous nascar driver. you think the name should say something about the band? The Beatles would really suck then.
@Comfortcakcak The Beatles originally were called the Beetles in tribute to Buddy Holly and the Crickets. They later had the clever notion of replacing the second "e" with an "a" to confer a musical sensibility to the title. Obviously, not every great band adopts a clearly defined name, but they usually put some degree of thought into it. Simply attaching "Jr." to a name that already has the suffix implies they did it for the sake of humor not for any grander purpose.
@Comfortcakcak I have a problem with making the name a mere joke. The name doesn't need to represent lofty ideas or concepts, but it must elicit something more than derision. When the name becomes a joke, so does the band and its music, and I do believe their talent merits better consideration than that.
@roomie4rent Do you know that their name is merely a joke? To you, Yes it may seem that way. But they might have a greater idea about their own band name.
@Comfortcakcak You could, you know, bow out gracefully and admit that you're completely wrong instead of being evasive, but I'll not press the matter further since we all know how fruitful it is to argue over the internet. Hopefully, both you and the band in question have been somewhat enlightened by all this.
@roomie4rent I honestly feel that if you make the music, you have the right to name the band whatever you want. You however, are not in the band, therefore, who cares what you think about the name. Why don't you start a band? Then you can name it whatever you want. May i suggest "jeff gordon gordon"? I like that one.
@conchilders No one's disputing the right for a group of musicians to determine their own name - what is a matter of discussion is the whether that name is any good or not. If you want to have a stupid name for your band, go right ahead; just know that you'll face an uphill battle for legitimacy.
@roomie4rent sounds like you and "every dj" you've talked to need to remove the stick of wood out of your asses. its a band's name. i'll like a band if they're called the shitheads if they have good music. the name is not what its about.
@CoonBabble You're being very shortsighted. If a band has an especially terrible name, they'll be remembered only for that name despite the caliber of their music. If you want to be taken seriously by the music consuming public, then you'll take your name seriously as well. PS: I don't have a "stick of wood" up my ass; I happen to like their music - I just wish the name wasn't so godawful.
@roomie4rent It's about the music. The band is quirky, the name is quirky. Give it a rest. I know you're going to respond to this with an argument, but please don't. It wouldn't be "fruitful".
Really good song.

I just happened to glance at the name "Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr." when I was buying a song on iTunes, and I had to check it out.
So I probably wouldn't have found out about them if they had a bland or boring name.

While you guys are musically sound, I must echo the sentiments of the DJ who aired the song: "terrible band name."

@roomie4rent And i am neither of those. so you don't have a point. they shouldn't change it to some mainstream friendly name. that would ruin it.
