for all of you guys who are having problem with the sound of your Em (Good Riddance) Don't do a regular Em, the trick is to use your third and fourth finger to press down the B and the e string on the 3rd fret. Hope it helps and take care <3

is not Em .. its just E .. 5 and 4 string on second fret and 3 string on one fret.

@jonkmans - I do wish he'd be a bit more explicit with some of the strumming patterns (I'm inexperienced enough at guitar it's hard to tell lingering sound from the previous chord from a new strum often), but, from what I can tell, the strumming pattern on the verses is 1 2 + (chord switch) 3 4 + (chord switch), repeating. The chorus is much more complicated...

in the first part(the picking) they don't even touch the first string so its really just a D5, then the first time the Em comes in he starts strumming and uses a Dmaj the rest of the time until he picks again at the end
