Duncan has lived for over four centuries. So it's plausible he came into contact with Asian culture at least once. Hence the Scotsman is wielding a katana.
@DrIdaho I considered that. I just thought it odd that a series called "Highlander's" most iconic weapon wasn't a Scottish Claymore. A weapon also well suited to lopping heads off.
I know it's supposed to be symbolic of the MacLeod's but I'm surprised more Immortals don't use the curved blade. You can take a head with almost no effort with a curved sword.
In response to the poster's remark about Duncan using Xavier's sword... Adrien Paul was a sword expert, so the producers probably wanted to showcase his skill with as much variety (of weapons) as possible.
@tenakakhan1985 I wish he lasted longer than 3 episodes (four if you count the student episode.) He was so cool that the producers let him live in Season 1, but I think he had potential to be a real Big Bad, like Horton in Season 2 or Kalas in Season 3. To kill him off in just 3 episodes seemed... unfair.
she drives me crazy stab stab an i dont mean mayb chop chop lol what was pecular about it he used the type of sword in the way u ar ment to and hes been around a few ayears to no how lol but id still chop his ponytail off
lol no Duncan Macleod is the better of the two thats why even Conner knew it and told him so in Highlander end game. Asked him to take his head because he knew he had more skills to beat the bad guy with

Jacory gives Miami Hope. Bench Marve his number is up let Jacory take over. Failure is not an option and when Marve sucks against Duke you know its time for Jacory. Jacory stepped up and delivered !!
please, is someone knows the song title in this episode when mc leod goes in Paris and when he is in front of his boat and remebering Tessa? thank U for Ur reply
Duncan is ultimately better. This is coming from a long-time Highlander fan. Connor is the original, but the character of Duncan is so much more explored, and heroic. Connor really only existed in the 1st movie, as a lonely anti-hero (because the other movies pretty much sucked and don't count). And I do love the character of Connor. But the character of Duncan is just more developed overall. And Adrian Paul is naturally the better swordsman! He's so good he turns the choreography into art!
I say they are both the best. Without Connor MacLeod, Kurgan would've made the world a living hell. Without Duncan MacLeod, Kronos of the Four Horsemen would've spread a virus in the entire world. They are the seeds of legends and no one could ever break their bond. Even if there can be only one, nothing can destroy their friendship that they have for each other...Nothing.
Someone want to explain to me why a Scotsman is using a katana?

These fight scenes are highly underrated due to the fact the storylines were so good.

OMG its Roland Gift from the Fine Young Cannibals :D

That wasn't a bastard sword or a rapier, it was a recreation of a Spanish Carlos V sword. The show used that sword for several "K's" in the series.

The opening banter of this sequence could easily be the introduction to a porno.

Great, great fight and an awesome killing stroke by Duncan at the end.

Xavier was a great villain. No wonder Horton chose him for the Unholy Alliance.

Wasn't a rapier. How long would he have lasted against immortals if all his sword did was poke them...

One of the best fights in the series. Xavier is a coward, but a damn good enemy to Duncan throughout the series.
tenakakhan1985 2 years ago
Xavier was not a coward, totally lacking in ethics but no coward.
Had one of the great lines in Highlander
"When you eat, eat well
When you make love, make it last
when you kill, kill for pleasure"
MagicKirin 2 years ago 2
I remember. To paraphrase him, he doesn't kill children, or sleep with virgins.
I only say he was a coward because his Watcher file pretty much already said it.
