  • 7 dislikes? idiots.

  • After recording all Medtners Sonatas, Scriabin Sonatas, Concertos by Busoni, Marx, Scharwenka, Rubinstein, Reger, Henselt,

Alkan's Concerto, symphony, Sonata, sonatina, Catoire, Kapustin, Dukas sonata, Sorabji sonata, 53 Godowsky studies, and Godowsky's Sonata and Passacaglia and many more very difficult pieces, he also found the time to compose his own magnificent set of Studies. And last but not least; He plays it all very beautiful and makes it sound easy. One of the best pianists ever!

  • 21:7 like-dislike ratio? Lewd hawbucks! Stand in awe of MAH!

2011, December, 10-11. Moscow. At least heavens will have sent their delegate from Haydn, Schumann, Liszt, Fauré and Woplé to da freakin Rusha!

  • @f1f1s The like-dislike ratio means nothing here. It's due to the uploader once wrote a critical comment on the Liszt HR2 performance of a Chinese chick, and thus her fans trolled through several MAH videos posted in those days, including this one, Etude No. 5, and tompilk's upload of Hamelin's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 in HQ. Non of them actually listen to the recordings I believe, they just hit on the dislike button to peeve Wolfymasta. Everybody else hit on the like one, evidently. That's all.

  • @madlovba3 *listened to

  • This is as exhausting to listen to as it is to play it.

  • To daz uploader. Thanks on riskin' ur shit accountz.

  • n probably at teh endz of teh purformance everyone clapz and he just liek kthxbai

  • Da doc can now has cheezburger az reward 4 unleashin da fury and a firin hiz lazor Alkan stylez!!!

  • Da doc unleazhed furiously, bravo yourz majesty

  • Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! exelent interpretations!!!!!!!!!!!! bravooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Is the audio not actually Hamelin? It's seems off.

  • @TheManRaptor No, it is Hamelin. Even he misses some notes sometimes, too. Isn't that reassuring for us mere mortals? :)

He's still one of the most talented musicians to ever grace the presence of this earth.

  • @OrangeSodaKing Thanks for the confirmation. The shady title "Doctah Hamelin" and all the rest was a little offputting so I didn't know if this was a real recording or not. Thanks!

  • @OrangeSodaKing Wrong notes at this caliber of musicianship is like a spontaneous sneeze during a performance. I could careless about a sneeze, but a whole audience of sneezes... that is something different.

  • @ReturnOfTheStienway Fortunately, he doesn't "sneeze" often.

  • Thank you!

  • Awesome!

  • Wolfymasta... I'm not even a part of the community, but I would suspect you're from Speed Demon.

Also, thank you so much for the upload!

  • Can you send me the entire concert please?

  • wow! this is the kinda concert I wanna be at... not at all these concerts of people playing the same music... OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER... and then they make the same and similar crude comments of how it should have been played OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER!!!

BRAVO Hamelin! Please play your etudes in an American Recital =)

  • @ReturnOfTheStienway

Um, you realize that Hamelin mostly plays works others have played... OVER and OVER, right? I mean, he's got a lot of standard repertoire going - been at his recital in Munich last week, and DAMN, his Haydn encore alone was worth coming over.

  • @twooffour Please show me some videos of other individuals creating new music at this level of intuition. Please upload videos of yourself- your comments will be more valid. Hamelin has has a vast repertoire, period.

  • @ReturnOfTheStienway

Um, you didn't get anything, I said that HAMELIN WAS MAINLY A PERFORMING PIANIST, and a composer of "new music" only second.

Arcadi Volodos does some amazing arrangements, if you mean pianists specifically.

  • @ReturnOfTheStienway I think Eriks Esenvalds makes incredible music, although I don't know how much he's composed for piano. (His choral music is out of this world!)

  • VERY GOOD PERFORMANCE! I WISH I WAS THERE, DO YOU HAVE ETUDE NO. 5? I WANT TO LEARN AND POST ON YOUTUBE!

  • VERY GOOD PERFORMANCE! I WISH I WAS THERE

  • oh wow this is fantasic!! would love to hear the entire recital!!! :-)

  • respekt tompilk for yourz info, your comment got deleted by mistakez

    and you iz right

  • @Wolfymasta Not a problem! I almost rushed into uploading these myself, but decided against it (partly because it's audio only, and also because it's live and Hamelin might not have approved, although I doubt somewhat the latter!). So thanks for uploading. Perhaps others would enjoy No.5 as well? I think it's the only one the majority of people will not have already heard, and the broadcast of it was a very exciting performance.

  • do you have the recording of all of the etudes from that concert?

  • Comment removed

  • @patricioapaez I have the entire concert :D

  • @madlovba2 maybe could u send it to me?? :o

  • @patricioapaez I did

  • I have soiled myself.
