@MouseKiller.....I think you did as good or better than most people for your first time. My first time to run an excavator was by far worse. But now, fifteen years and 16,000 hours later I've got the hang of it. The main thing to remember is have fun, keep spectators at a distance ( especially your pretty wife ) and always know what utilities are present where your digging.

I am incredibly annoyed. Watch some youtube videos before operating one again. Dont make the bucket dig like that, bucket touches the ground, slowly pull the stick towards you and raise boom slowly, as bucket comes closer to u, lower boom slowly curling the bucket in. Try to stop the stick coming in a little over half way back to you. Make the teeth of the bucket do the work. Dont jerk the controls to one side like that, nice and easy and it will move.

i hired one er them an a little tracked doorway dumper to dig my front garden out, lifted 24 3by2ft flags an dug 6 inches of clay out before lunchtime an put in 2.5 ton of quarry dust back in by 3pm, they look like fuck all but it beats using a fucking spade. Isnt Manual Labour a spanish man??
