I have this on promo 12" vinyl still. I'm not sure how long I had it before hearing Montell's version but it was a long while (maybe a year). Don't think this was ever released to my knowledge.

This is the better version imo.

OMD....i first heard this on Choice FM back in '98 and then Montell murdered it....such a classic track and i was in doubt whether i actually heard it right as a track by Derrick Dimitri....this version is one of THE classics of the late 90's...thank you for posting this....your an absolute legend!

We did this joint for Derrick back at D.A.R.P in 98, it was my 1st real check until i re cut it with Montell. He def did a betta job than Montell.

Get it On Tonight's rhythm track ripped off an old disco tune by Claudja Barry, the beat is exactly the same. Derrick's vocals are sick. What a tune!!!!!!! I have the Super rare Freeworld promo vinyl 12" single also with the instrumental and Acappella versions.. BTW. I don;t think people should really diss Montell for his effort, he's a good artist and did a decent job with his cover. But you can't beat the original version. This is one of best club joints of the 90's. Period!!! DJ AJay

This beat is just the defness!! Ok, as told to me by my man at my local record shop (Virgin megastore, but I trust his knowledge). Although white labels (a few hundred, tops) were 'available' at the time, it was never actually released. (Contractual problems). No he wouldn't sell me his copy even though hundreds of pounds were the going rate. No I couldn't borrow it either. In fact he didn't want to let it out of his sight. Result = He taped his copy for me. Quality - not great, but hey.........

apparently island def jam swindled this guy out, cuz he received no credits for this song. I had this on a mixtape & loved it. But when i heard Montel's version..i thought it sucked.
