I knew this was going to be something special. But I must admit my curiosity was aroused all the more when I saw Nabuko Imai's name. I know she is a phenomanal viola player. Saw her more years ago than I care to remember at the Wigmore Hall in London playing with a quartet .Sitting on the front stalls, I was captivated by her playing. My ears were glued to the sound of the viola and afterwards in the Green Room I told her how entralled I was by her playing. She really is a musician's musician.
This is the best. I like his piano trios too. How can anybody write so many works in just 31 years? 600 songs, 9 symponies, piano concerti, chamber works, piano solos, and the rest. True genius.
i like the piano part, but as for the violins.... should they be more lively to be the naughty trout? I think their performance is ... a little dull and much too peacful. i feel like it's a group of old and strengthless trout slowly swimming here and there.
As a boy, my father would sing this lullaby to me and to my brothers to help us go to sleep. It works. It would go like this:
"Lit-tle Ed-ward is so ti-red, he just wants to go to sleep... Lit-tle Ed-ward is so ti-red, he justs wants to go to sleep... Lit-tle Ed-ward is so ti-red, he justs wants to go to sleep..."
Why is it that people feel the need to defend this as acceptable? We get this stuff for free on YouTube, but the people in that audience paid plenty to hear the concert. If you were served a bad meal in an expensive restaurant you might send it back. You'd certainly complain about it, and you wouldn't be likely to go there again. You wouldn't *choose* to hear a high school production of Shakespeare over a professional one. Would you *really* rather be too ignorant to tell the difference?

I'm amazed by the positive comments about this really second rate performance. Rachlin sounds like he's sight reading half the time. Anything difficult or high is messy and out of tune. The pianist is better but light on details. Each trill sounds different. Maisky is, well, Maisky. At least in this case (though not usually) his taste in clothes is worse than his taste in music.
sorry man, we, the ignorant people who only listen to this for peasure dont know enough about music to listen to a piece we cant stand because of details
Beautiful. I admire that pianist's technique and her obvious passion. You can almost hear the glints of the trout scales in the light passages...Schubert was definitely a master.
A fine performance to both listen to AND to watch, esp. the way the performers really get into Schubert... the Steinway grand really sounds grand, doesn't it!
What sort of wood can that double bass be made of, it's almost black! ?
(As for the suggestions about computerized music stands, some modification of the Kindle or a similar device would be more appropriate than a full laptop! to say the least.)
All those loose sheets of music! Wouldn't a computerscreen make things a lot easier andf, surely, offer many new possibilities? Does anyone know if such a thing is in use? The advantages must be enormous, especially when larger orchestras are involved...
Obviously, they would: I've already got 3 red thumbs...But I still believe, that a laptopscreen mounted on a stand, makes a lot more sense than loose sheets. You could store a whole library, you could have playback-options, you could have large characters/notes for musicians with poor eye-sight, you could attach a pedal, in short you could concentrate on what's important, i.e. the music. I'm not a computer freak, I just have a practical mind and I love classical music.
haha except that would be prohibitively expensive xD
a good stand costs about 20, if a stage provides for 50 members, that's already a grand down. Up that to about 300 like you're thinking and it'd be...like 15k :D
Oh, my friend, I'd rather ask: any one can deny the concept of human after listening to Schubet? Because gods, as the dead, have little to say about what inspires art: passion, fear, wonder. If gods had something to do with art, I must say, Hamlet would be taken as a comedy.
Gosh, I would love to have been there to see this performed. Schubert's fantastic quintet has had it's large amounts of performances, but none of them match up in video quality and beauty to this version.
Sorry, I dont like to criticize but I also think this 4th movement was not so well played as the 3 first ones. It was a bit weak, especially in the end, lacking energy. The pianist is very good, though, a joy to hear, always graceful and lively.
Yes, i´m very disappointed as well. Such a brilliant tune as the trout played in such a way! The trout is probably the best melody i´ve ever come across with, such an inspiration, i can´t believe someone could ever been so inspired...
a bit disappointed... i expected some more magic from this all-star group! instead of magic they brought a sort of unorganized inspiration, some talent in a bucket... great to see mihaela ursuleasa though

A horgász cselre készül, mert unja már
A csermelyt, felzavarja s na lám amire várt,
Már húzza tépi horgát a végén a végén ott a hal,
Jajj miért hogy mindig jól jár mindig célhoz ér ki csal.
kicsidinus 1 year ago 3
A csermely halkan zúgott, hol útja völgyre nyílt,
