you guys are all retarded...It doesnt matter how good you are. YOu all think KISS is the best rock band in the world? NO, but they have a LOT OF FUCKING MONEY. Kenny is a business man as well. Smart cookie...He made more out of any body who commented, including me, on playing 4/4 than anybody. lol
kinda sucks all the bad comments. we all have our "off" days ya know? i know hes an endorsed pro and all but give bald ol kenny a break. everything else ive seen him play has been awesome. he's just not feelin it here i guess.
By the looks of it he's trying alot of tom work. Prob to try show off the bub for Tama, maybe it was just not what he's used to playing, he is human after all :)
Kenny is not just a studio drummer. He KILLS live. Ask any of the arena acts he's played for. He can play the pants off of almost every drummer out there. I've seen him do it in person close-up at three clinics and a masterclass.
And, YES, he can solo too. He's ridiculously good... just not here, IMO.
This is an odd feel he's playing, a very odd choice for a solo. I don't dig it, but this is not embarrassing by any means.
although not his best performance i thought it was still good nonetheless becuase he was able to mainting the solo. also i found it very interesting the way he projected the drums as well as that, i thought the use of different tempos was interesting aswell, some parts it was sincopated some parts it was not, for example when he does his drum fill end with china cymbal. so by doing this i think kennys solo was very entertaing x)
"Perfect" is something none of us will attain, at least not in this lifetime. All we can expect is a close approximation and feeling good about a job well done. Hopefully, we have some understanding people around us when we have an "off" day...but definitely not some of you.
The Bubinga OT has a new tuning system, which allows the tuning of both heads from the batter side. It also features a 100% bubinga shell and a limited finish choise.
The regular bubinga has the regular starclassic lugs and its shell has a maple outer ply for more finish options.
surely they should have taken a mix off the desk if they wanted the drums to sound good on youtube right? Maybe it is taken off the desk I dunno... sounds not too good though
coltrain210 among other things hes a professional. What r u known for?Lots of golfers stop to watch Tiger Woods practice but Tiger doesnt stop to watch other golfers....u follow?
hes very famous for being a great studio session drummer, hes solid and dependable and very knowledgable around the studio, that said, hes not the best soloist.
Okay, I have a question, and I SWEAR, in no way am I trying to be fasicious, but this guys must be known for just playing rock SONGS, right? Is he known for his technique or soloing? I mean, I know some of his stuff with Melloncamp and I enjoy it, but I guess I never knew why he was so famous in the drumming community. Is there some other stuff I should check out? Thanks
Q. for the drum tech guys.. what ya think about using (evans G1 COATED) on bubbinga toms im thinking G1 is a single ply BUT being coated may give it less ring.. ?? as oppose to G2 clear which im using now??
It's interesting to me that Simon Phillips' drums, with clear ambassador heads, sitting nest to Kenny's, sound nothing like Kenny's with coated ambassadors. Kenny's have a traditional rock sound, and Simon's have a more pure and ringy tone. Very versitile drums!
That has 70% to do with the tuning aswell. Simon tunes his toms so they ring a bit more due to the contrast between the top and bottom head and Kenny tunes his lower.
well i kno all that but i was refering to these videos whereas they have the same type of drums but different heads and thus different sounds and i kno they tune differently but going back to my first point...if you tune the SAME drum the SAME way different heads will make a huge tone difference

yeah a studio great but live!!! he embarrassed himself lol
tdrummer123 2 years ago
Not only is he a killer drummer, he could probably double as a body guard for rock stars.
Plus, he hits his drums so hard you know he'd be able to knock people out in the Ultimate Fighting Championships.

if he can be endorsed by tama.... SO CAN EYE!!!!!!! THIS WAS HORRIBLE LOL EXCEPT THE FIRST 5 SECONDS LOL

You sir, are an idiot. Kenny Aronoff is a studio great. Hes played with musicians that you would ever dream of playing with.
Your arrogance knows no bounds.

with omni tune you can tune the top and bottom heads from the top lug with a special key

the heads make the difference...u can tune the same drum the same way and will sound completely different based on the heads
superomegamegacop13 3 years ago
just because u got a great head, your drums wont sound good if you're still a bad tuner...
There's a lot of different factors: shell material, thickness, bearing edges, tuning, heads, rims and most importantly...the guy playing them!
Sabiano 3 years ago

Kenny uses double layer coated "Emperors" which is why he has a rock sound. Simon uses clear single layer "Ambassadors".

I think this is the best sounding drum ever produced by tama... Bubinga omni tune and also bubinga and birch.
Honestly, I´m not a tama fan, but this bubinga kit sounds amazing... Kicks ass!

trust me, it sounds a helluva lot better face to face than in this vid! Compared to the IRL sound, this is quite bad frankly!
