  • Kiski duniya yahaan tabaah nahin

    Kaun hai jiske lab pe aah nahin...

  • Two People are Sleeping all the Night.......

  • It's my favorite. Now I hate three idiots Cameraman, Choreographer, and the director for keeping the other dancers in dark = e. prabhakara rao =

  • brilliance beyond words

  • koi mkabla nai ... an all time hit song ... music, lyrics and performance, unmatchable ....

    swad aa geya ji .... boht wadhiya

  • Great song and really fantastic choreography, her expressions are lovely.

  • Minoo Mumtaz's real name was Malika Mumtaz. She married S. Ali Akbar on 6-12-1963. Akbar had directed Mahmood's film Chhote Nawab in 1961 during which he and Minoo became friendly. Her present whereabouts are not known. She should be in her mid seventies, if still alive.

  • Part III:

    The heart will surely fall in love with the beauty, there is no way to escape;

    The life will be robbed at first sight today.

    Heard night stays awake in your company;

    O, my sweetheart I won't be able to sleep tonight.

    (Posted from Lahore)

  • Part II:

    The merriment of this party is for the whole night;

    Why to think of the morning so soon then.

    Your splendid sight and your face, what else is wanted for the eye;

    Tonight your unveiled face will certainly show its colours.

    One who is devoured by love cannot utter a word of complaint;

    This is an alley where heart can never remain safe.

    Is there anyone whose world has not been devastated?

    Is there anyone who does not have a sigh on his lips?

  • Here is a literal translation of this classic lyric written by Shakeel Badayuni:

    Part I:

    O, my sweetheart I won't be able to sleep tonight;

    Heard night stays awake in your company.

    The whole night will pass like that with eyes wide awake;

    Heard night stays awake in your company.

    The whole night will pass like that with eyes wide awake.

    The sweetheart is here and the beautiful evening and cupfuls of love;

    Fortunate is the one who also takes revenge.

  • Here are meanings of some unfamiliar words of this ghazal:

    Surat (face, figure) Saqi (wine server, beloved) saqia (o, saqi ), mehfil ( music,poetic/social gathering) rat-jaga(night vigil, festive night) ulfat (love,affection) jaam (glass,bowl of wine) taqdeer (fate,destiny) intiqam (revenge) jalwa (splendid sight ) nazar (look, sight,glance) salamat (safe,unharmed) rang-e-mehfil (happy mood of the party ) sehar (dawn, morning ) rang laye gi (produce results, show its colours).Posted from Lahore

  • As a whole, no doubt, it is a classic.

  • there is no way this was within the capacity of hemant kumar to compose....i wonder who assisted him?

  • Thanks for uploading very lovely songs.

  • ASHA JI +HEMANT DA =MAR JAAO 03332604292

  • minoo mumtaz ( real name Malika Mumtaz ) at her all time best

  • what a beautiful song,look at the music,rhythm poetry and finally melodious voice of singer and

    contribution of the poet and how beautifully this song is filmed and the dancer made tremendous effort to make justice with this song.Can anybody comment where such songs have gone.I am grateful to the person who uploaded.

  • @kishwar45 sahib, you expressed my feelings. Such songs are here to remain, God bless those creators who created such pearls.

  • super hit

  • very melodious qawali composed y hemant kumar & picturised on minu mumtaz. hemant kumar was highly talented having knolege of light & classical music. all composition of hemant kumar r a gr8 nostalgia of yester years.

  • @jagjitisher this is not a qawwali, this is a mujra song and dance. there is no dancing in qawwali

  • @orientlover1 yes certainly its a mujra not qawwali.

  • a hit and sweet song by hemantda for film sahab bibi aur gulam sung by asha and picturised on minoo mumtaz daughter of famous dancer mumtaz ali and sister of mehmood.

  • very well sung by asha, along with shakeel badayuni 's lyrics and hemant kumar's music, this is definetly a masterpiece

  • very goood

  • The song is very good but its picturisation is outstanding. Except for the main dancer every other dancer is in the dark. You can not see their faces. The use of light and shade is simply out of the world !

  • @atulks i can't figure out the lighting here for me they being in dark is bad pray explain but the music is out of the world in fact the whole picturesqueness is unique

  • @atulks i've watched this song so many x but didn't notice the lighting until now...the lightining is tricky the other dancers are in the silhouette but the background ordiances are in the light.. amazing yes out of this world

  • Hemant music is captivating.

  • Excellent composition and sung as well.

  • i love it

  • nice

  • The beautiful song and music ,the whole combination is out of this world!

  • It is amazing to to notice the amazing skill of photography and the directions with each small details of the whole scene leaving such great sensory and psychological impact on the viewer.The expression of wonder amusement silliness on Gurudat'S (Bhootnath)face peeking through the door. The flirtatious but professional expressions of the dancer.The arrogant and indifferent hard look on Rehman's (Landlord)face contrasting the clown goofing behind his back.And the beautiful song and dance.

  • You've said it all..!! You could easily give professional film critics a good run for their monies...

    Yes, wonderful song! Thanks to Kitabik for the video, which has maintained the vivid details.. even after uploading...

  • that gentleman is not rehman but sapru. rehman is a major player in the movie, just mot in this song.

  • I think in the film it is Rehman who use to go to see this twaif every night leaving his wife alone and he was kind of attracted this dancer.

  • no she is not the tawaif visited by Rehman. she is another woman

  • excellent video quality. such sharp pictures. my compliments.

  • This is one of the greatest musical creations. I will never get tired of this. Asha Bhosle gave it her all to make Meenu Mumtaz look like a perfect seductress.

  • I am selling the original soundtrack CD to this film Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam (Saregama) for £6. Thank you.

  • i love the silhouettes of the dancers

  • it is Meenu Mumtaz singing on screen but is LATA MANGESHKAR. a hit of 1960s

  • NOT LATA

    ITS ASHA

  • Who sings this ?

  • Exquisite presentation on so many fronts: music,lyrics,vocals and composition! Incredible indeed. those were the days! Guardians of Indian music should treasure such gems. Sadly, its a dying art these days!

    Thanks kitaabik.

    Kanwal

  • she's fucking adorable

  • Incredble!!!! Too good for words. Simply melodious.

  • Does anyone know where I can find the lyrics of this song translated into English? I really like the song and wish I knew what was being said. ^_^

  • O Barmaid,I shall not sleep tonight because such is my intention.We will lie wide awake and love.O Barmaid,you are by my side,so is the wine and the evening is beautiful.We have the whole night to us,why bother,its only evening,etc...

  • Hemant Kumar's music hits bull's eye.

  • This is not just great art in music and dance, it is also a part of a vanishing history and cultural heritage as a result of the ongoing coarseness and vulgarization of Indian cinema today.

  • So true !

  • Definatly one to watch.One of those films that grow on you and have to watch it few times before you realise how good it really is.SAHI BIBI AUR GHULAM

  • such a cute song

    y'all right...old BW Music was much better

  • What a sharp voice of Asha!

  • absolutely! well said.

  • great video!

  • What a magnificent piece from an India that is gone forever! This quality of music, dance and lyrics will never come again in today's films. People's tastes have permanently changed...

  • muhteşem.. muteşem performans muhteşem..

  • how cute is this !!!!

  • Right on!

  • does anyone have the translation?

  • id love to see the movie!

  • beautiful song! Definitely agree, its one of the best mujras I have heard from Bollywood!

  • Now thats what I call good old Bollywood stuff. Nothing like the crap thats produced nowadays! Every time I hear it gives me luvly feelings!

  • Nothing today, I repeat nothing today, can beat the music in this one. Industry standard.

  • =======THAX======
