  • Great video

  • HOW DID YOU MAKE THE SPEAKER

  • @Instucablanator The speaker was purchased from anythingradioactive com.

  • from where can I buy from this geiger counter?

I have seen some on Ebay but they say they are calibrated for measuring high dosage so it will not even show ambient radiation etc..

Is this geiger counter modified? and from where can I buy it?

    thanks

  • @Arkansis I purchased the CD V-700 geiger counter from ebay. The CD V-700 is one of the more sensitive CD counters and will measure background ambient radiation. The gieger counter is not modified. The pancake probe used is more sensitive than the standard CD V-700 hotdog probe but the hotdog probe is sensitive enough to measure changes in background radiation.

  • why would you buy a radioactive dinner plate

and how did you get it through the mail

  • @The2Wiredproductions There is nothing dangerous about the plate unless you chip the glazing off and eat it. There are no restrictions on mailing consumer products of earlier years that have low levels of radiation. The plate makes a great source to test geiger counter is functioning.

  • Thanks for the info.

  • @zensurfer0 Thank you for viewing :)

  • Why the heck would someone want a radioactive toxin plate?

I just keep thinking that thing is obviously dangerous in that you will have some poisoning effects from it.

  • @WildBuck007 The plate is only toxin if you digest the radioactive glazing.

  • @sl44er

...I'll disagree with you on that point. But then again. It is up to the person wanting such objects. Just don't handle it to much is my advice. Stay safe, cheers. =)

  • This is a great advertisement for those things. I think I'm going to invest in a geiger counter now.

  • my background radiation is around 0 here!

  • What is interesting about all this is "Ann Coulter" was touting the benefits of radioactive activity in the body. She spoke of cell phones, cell towers, and much more. She even quoted some of the studies. Then there is granite. I heard this is radioactive. I never checked any of this. Lastly, how about the Honda Hybrids and all the ecars coming out. I "heard" fairly high levels there too. Thanks for any help s144er!

  • @ThinkPureTruth Search Google for 'hormesis' and the benefits of lower level radiation. Granite can definitely be radioactive, my granite kitchen counters measure three times ambient background radiation. I have no information on Hybrid cars being radioactive, I'll have to research that one :)

  • nice clean carpet, not much for background levels

  • 27,500 CPM divided by 100=275 microsievert. Imagine families who had whole sets of these and ate off of them every day and washed them by hand and had them stacked in a cupboard in their kitchen. Not safe! Drinking cofee out of the mugs every day...plus it wasn't only red that was radioctive...wasn't orange also?

  • @Wivanunu Measured radiation of Fiestaware plate with CDV-700b with CDV-700RD pancake probe is 27,500 CPM, Gamma Scout measures 13 microsievert. You are correct orange is also radioactive. Google " radiation hormesis" :)

  • @sl44er I'm confused about your geiger and the new ones and all the units of measurement. I did read an article recently about radiation hormesis.

  • Why they use uranium?

  • @adriaticsea123 They used uranium oxide to achieve the red color. It is estimated that a single plate contains 4.5 grams of uranium.

  • The all NEW Fiestaware! Microwaves your food without using a microwave! :)

  • @CallMeFibs I have acquired a smaller Fiestaware plate that is much hotter :)

  • david hann, you should have disolved the UO2 off these plates for your reactor, wow to bad he didn't use the glase from those plates!

  • @ubuntupokemoninc LOL :)

  • wow 27,500CPM is quite high! thats about half of whats in a smoke detector

  • @ubuntupokemoninc Yes but smoke detectors are shielded and you don't eat off of them :) Smoke detectors use Americium-241 emitting Alpha radiation which is less penetrating than Gamma and Beta emitted from uranium.

When the video was recorded the CDV-700b had a leaky capacitor limiting readings. The CDV-700b has since been professionally calibrated and instantly pegs X100 30,000 CPM scale when measuring plate.

  • nice sound

  • stupid question but if you keep close to that plate for long will you die or get sick or cancer or something??? and does these civil deffence counters work with european batteryes or do they have special usa batteries? thank u

  • @Tokatt not a stupid question and I apologize for the delay in answering. I'm not sure what the long term effects are of keeping a Fiestaware plate like this in close contact. As you can see from the video distance makes a huge difference. My guess it depends on a person's chemistry, ancestry, and age; not an experiment I'm willing to try :)

CDV-700b Civil Defense Geiger Counter uses four standard D-cell 1.5V batteries.

  • Hi matkovicha

Not sure why your comment was removed. The plate is not dangerous but I wouldn’t sleep with it under my pillow.

  • @sl44er I didn't wait until the end of the video to comment when you said that it wasn't that dangerous.

  • Very informative
