@227CM Look again. Clutterbuck was aiming for the side, but Diebenedetto turned at the very last second and Clutterbuck couldn't stop and finished his check. It wasn't the best placement, but he didn't intend to hit from behind. The only thing that couldn've been called would be boarding. Gillies intentionally used his fists right on Clutterbuck's head. And when you do that right after a suspension, he's lucky he only got 10 games rather than a season for indefinite. That's not hockey.
Gillies had 1 point in 24 games with Bridgeport in the AHL.

@227CM Look again. Clutterbuck was aiming for the side, but Diebenedetto turned at the very last second and Clutterbuck couldn't stop and finished his check. It wasn't the best placement, but he didn't intend to hit from behind. The only thing that couldn've been called would be boarding. Gillies intentionally used his fists right on Clutterbuck's head. And when you do that right after a suspension, he's lucky he only got 10 games rather than a season for indefinite. That's not hockey.

Gillies had 1 point in 24 games with Bridgeport in the AHL.
Before that her played in Albany where he had two points in 80 games. I don't mind enforces but there is no way this man belongs in the NHL. Maybe the ECHL.

The hits weren't even close to the same. Gillies got him in the face with an elbow, clutterbuck got him in the body which I admit was a little cheap but nowhere near what gillies was.

Yes Clutterbuck's hit wasn't clean but when Gillies sticks his forearm/elbow into someone's head, how is that not intent to injure? And he has more PIMs than time on ice. Ok, for those of you uneducated hockey fans going around calling Cluterbuck "dirty" and/or "cheap" the guy has NEVER once been suspended in his career. He has a total of 50 penalty minutes this season, not even leading his team. And in his nearly 3 full seasons in the NHL he has under 200 PIM. 3 years in a row he has lead the NHL in hits, but hardly ever gets penalties, last time I checked I'd say that's pretty damn clean. Gillies, 19 games suspended this year....yeah he's the victim.

Just for those who didn't watch - IIRC Clutterbuck did serve a 2 min boarding penalty for this. Gillies got a 5 min penalty and a game misconduct, Cal got 2 for boarding so it was 4 on 4 for 2 min then a Wild PP for 3 min.

It's clear that the Islanders have no desire to play hockey, and this is a perfect encapsulation of that.
