@S13KA24E of course it's unorganized they only had 8 weeks, just think about it to take 25.000euros hatchback and make it a sort of a supercar and the VW group has the best engineerings in the world. anyone who knows a lil bit about cars are aware of that
@S13KA24E from my point a view it isn't, it's actually brilliant making this tehnical exercise, they are showing off, how they did with they veyron LOOK WHAT WE CAN DO !!! brakes and suspension from gallardo, subframe from r8 and the engine from continental gt(phaeton) in 8 weeks, just marvellous
i wanna see it put up against 034motorsport's project GTI-RS. mid-engine 3.0(single turbo swapped, stroked 2.7 biturbo), 6speed 2wd 01E, 996 Turbo rear end, etc... 700hp on track setup w/ "small" turbo, 1400 on the gt45r drag setup.
They should have done a limited run of these - maybe with a more realistic engine like one from an RS4/6. Renault got away with it when they did the clio V6 and now lots of people think they're great.
Start test riding bikes out Jeremy, think you might find they piss on fast cars with a decent rider, more skill in riding bikes too! ANY KNOB CAN DRIVE A CAR!!
so whats the point putting the 6.0 liter, 12 cylinder engine if you are not supposed to go around corners at high speeds? Better buy Proton Neo R3.... ahahaha... noob engineers....
@LIVNLOUD247 lol. i have a Evo VII 508 bhp and it's the best handling car i've ever driven. meet me at the top gear track next week and see who will go around faster. :)
@Rangeroversport12 thats impossible. i didnt look online but it should be a production car. people have bought it. and it went on top gear racing board.
@CmdrTobs when i first watched it i didnt pick up that the engine was from the bentley. also, i wonder if they chose not to use an r32 golf, because they were AWD from memory? then again they are probably not in production anymore and they used the current model. I suppose the purpose was to show off the engineering possibilties not the real world capabilities
@lynel1985 I suppose the 4WD system in a Golf R (thats the R32 of this generation of golf I believe) just can't handle the power. Transmissions are very sensitives to torque and that W12 will have loads. Audi had trouble getting the one on the ~500hp R8 diesel to work. (Search for youtube for it)
@CmdrTobs i was referring to the chassis not so much the gearbox as the golf is normally front engines awd. I just thought in my head that putting this system as is into the awd golf using the AWD gearbox from the lambo, would just mean maybe a custom diff and shafts, and new tail shaft (very little work incomparrion to the rest of the car) frankly i would be over the moon about this being parked in my driveway hahaha but if i want that kind of power i have to settle for japanese due 2 its price
@lynel1985 your right, you prob could use cram a lambo or audi AWD sustem in is though that engine is probably too much. I can't think of any 4WD VAG group car that could handle the torque of the W12.
Basically they picked the engine first, then all the other choices fell into place which forced there hand into RWD mid engined. The best choice would be the RS6 V8 the RS6 drive train. Though that's nothing unquie, it would just be a RS6 in a golf body.... or a RS4 with a v8 (if it could fit)
The engine comes out of the Bentley Continental GT / VW Phaeton (same platform). Both have AWD.
Making a 4WD W12 Golf would probably not be all that difficult for Volkswagen. It would just be incredibly pointless and a waste of money because nobody would buy such a monstrosity.
@chrispiano45 or they could just put some traction controll fine tune things make it AWD make it priced around $80,000 to $100,000, make all the electronics work and im sure it would be a big seller
I love this car, i would save my pennies for it. Cameros and Mustangs cant go around corners either but people spend stupid money on them too. so why not have a beautiful little super car instead. I used to smoke Mustang GT's back when i had my Stage II Turbo GTI in 2004. God i miss that car.
1:24 I know why they dont work it was because of Due to the rushed build time of the car (8 weeks), not all of its features function fully. The steering-wheel mounted paddle-shifters are not linked to the transmission, the hazard lights do not function, and the heating and air-conditioning system of the car does not function due to the dashboard controls never being linked to the unit.
If Volkswagen owns all those companies, why don't they make all the cars they have with a W12 engine option rather than the usual petrol and bangy old diesel engines. That would be great!
VW never made this car, sadly. Despite the terrible handling, I like it. Can't explain why, I just do. But fear not, if you want an insane car, there's now a Renault Twingo with a V8!
I'd love one of these looking like a normal old Golf, so I could go to the lights next to some dickhead in a riced-up Supra, and completely thrash him. The look on his/her face would be priceless.
But I saw this grotesque thing, this car in Atlantic City, NJ, a few days ago. I walked around it not knowing what to make of it and that's when I noticed the VW logo. It looks like a Golf on some serious steroids.
@museman007 This car will not be going on sale, its just a mock up, something thrown together last minute. Not to mention that there is only one in existance.
@museman007 This car will not be going on sale, its just a mock up, something thrown together last minute. Not to mention that there is only one in existence.
Volkswagen knew what it was doing when it produced this vehicle. This is a straight line performance car only. Anytime you place a 6.0 liter, 12 cyllinder engine in the rear of a vehicle which was originally designed for a 4 to 6 cyllinder engine in the front, you are not supposed to go around corners at high speeds. It's like trying to go around corners at full speed in a dragster. It's not designed for that. All weigh in the rear and none in the front. Come on engineers.
@taker8058 The adjective performance is referring to it's high torque and high horsepower which results in a very quick 0-60 time, quarter mile time and also a very high top end without any electronic limiters installed. All of this remains true for this vehicle although very, very little (if any at all) G-Force can be had because of it's possibly or slightly exaggerated 10 to 90 front to rear weight distribution. A rear installed VR6 w/dual high pressure turbos would give much better results.
@ljguy300 Porsche's set-up is actually totally different and none of their models since the release of its first known as the 64 were ever designed with a front wheel drive set-up. Porsche's engines, transmissions and drivetrain layout would only insult that of a Golf anyday. I would love to go into a much greater detail comparing the two but it would not be necessary. The Golf is sold for those who like the sporty hatchback set-up. Porsche's are designed for they who have money to spend.
@Mixedbreed3 lol u dont convince me mister and i stand by my comment, u said "All weigh in the rear and none in the front. Come on engineers." what Porsche and vw with the old beetle did, true mechanical traction and grip. Your fwd rant is irrelevant and its contrast/comparison fwd vs rwd rear engine and golf vs Porsche as well. You cant argue with the fact that you want weight over the drive tires, the problem with the golf chassis is the short wheel base irrelevant of engine/gearbox layout
@chouser3216 I am not knocking that fact, because the concept is pretty unique. Unfortunately, in the real world, it is only good as a dragster which includes the rear parachute for stopping, so that the tail doesn't swing out. The weight of the engine will continue traveling when the rest of the vehicle wants to come to a halt. That is no fun for any driver even if they are a professional drifter if they choose to stop and the car does not. There is a difference between a excitement and death.
two options: 1. put in the 4motion AWD system and market it as a track-ready racing platform OR 2. put a 6 speed manual in it, leave it RWD, make the wheelbase a biiiit longer and market it as a drift car platform
@chakijaSMB I guess golf enthusiast would, lol. But its just nuts. And those golfs with 600+ BHP on youtube are custom made by people that thing they outsmarted the vw engineers.
seriously now, poeple who don't drive Golfs, and have never drove one, do not comment here as u know nothing about Golf. i so wanna see those guys commenting here that this car sucks, test it and then tell us again they think this ridiculous :)
if i have a bank account of 1111111111000000000000000 USD, i would still buy this car, not a lambo, nor a bently, nor an aston martin and not any other car.
if i had bought that vw golf w12 i would of go back to vw or audi and ask em to istall a 4wd drivetrain system. would any in youtube would agree of this???
@DiogoDC123 my friend, you can steer that monster, you saw the stig doing it right? you just need to know how to handle such power. not to mention this is just a concept car, it is not yet set to production and it was built within 8 weeks :) i believe there is a reason why VW group is the biggest car manufacturer on earth and there definitely is a reason why VW cars are the top sellers of the world and there is a reason why VW is the company with the biggest profits in crisis times
@TheStew7777 it probobly would fit due to lets say A3 Quattro just beef that drivetrain up a bit and away u go ;) problem here is that its a Mid Engine car, so they would have to take the AWD drive from the lambo and that is too big :P
@peugeot405rus....DITTO! I happen to think it's pretty darn good looking! May handle like ass but considering how quickly it was thrown together, just think of how nice it would be with plenty of time to work out the bugs and improve everything....we may just have another Bowtie/Cobra eater to play with!

@Mixedbreed3 thats true for dragsters but i ask only this how can it truly be a performance vehicle when it cannot go around corners???
taker8058 1 year ago
@taker8058 The adjective performance is referring to it's high torque and high horsepower which results in a very quick 0-60 time, quarter mile time and also a very high top end without any electronic limiters installed. All of this remains true for this vehicle although very, very little (if any at all) G-Force can be had because of it's possibly or slightly exaggerated 10 to 90 front to rear weight distribution. A rear installed VR6 w/dual high pressure turbos would give much better results.

@Mixedbreed3 what have Porsche been doing for years?
ljguy300 1 year ago

@Mixedbreed3
Well... afterall they did have 8 Weeks to do it.

@DetonatorYellow pretty nice for 8 weeks :)

@Mixedbreed3 look at the size of the car obviously u aint gonna get a 6 litre 12 cylinder engine in the front lol
AaronVolksW 9 months ago
@Mixedbreed3 but its pretty awesome :)
chouser3216 9 months ago
@chouser3216 I am not knocking that fact, because the concept is pretty unique. Unfortunately, in the real world, it is only good as a dragster which includes the rear parachute for stopping, so that the tail doesn't swing out. The weight of the engine will continue traveling when the rest of the vehicle wants to come to a halt. That is no fun for any driver even if they are a professional drifter if they choose to stop and the car does not. There is a difference between a excitement and death.

two options: 1. put in the 4motion AWD system and market it as a track-ready racing platform OR 2. put a 6 speed manual in it, leave it RWD, make the wheelbase a biiiit longer and market it as a drift car platform
dropkickmurphy01 1 year ago 2
Its not just the 4wd, as jeremy said brakes and suspension are shit aswell, so is everything else on the car that was made in 2 months.

@mediastack
hhahahha, every product has its buyer....so i presume someone would...You can find tuned golf on tube with 600+ BHP, but you are right...
chakijaSMB 1 year ago

@SupersonicDjJam thats stupid you still wouldnt be able to steer the fucking thing and its slower than an sti on the track with like 300 more horses
DiogoDC123 1 year ago
@DiogoDC123 my friend, you can steer that monster, you saw the stig doing it right? you just need to know how to handle such power. not to mention this is just a concept car, it is not yet set to production and it was built within 8 weeks :) i believe there is a reason why VW group is the biggest car manufacturer on earth and there definitely is a reason why VW cars are the top sellers of the world and there is a reason why VW is the company with the biggest profits in crisis times
DjLethal1 8 months ago
@DjLethal1 everything true but the last statement vw was only up 12% in sales during the recession subaru was up 17%
DiogoDC123 7 months ago
@SupersonicDjJam it wouldnt actually fit. thats why they didnt do it
TheStew7777 1 year ago
@TheStew7777 it probobly would fit due to lets say A3 Quattro just beef that drivetrain up a bit and away u go ;) problem here is that its a Mid Engine car, so they would have to take the AWD drive from the lambo and that is too big :P
McTw1st 1 year ago
@SupersonicDjJam VW's 4motion. i agree

if i had bought that vw golf w12 i would of go back to vw and tell em to istall a 4wd drivetrain.

@peugeot405rus....DITTO! I happen to think it's pretty darn good looking! May handle like ass but considering how quickly it was thrown together, just think of how nice it would be with plenty of time to work out the bugs and improve everything....we may just have another Bowtie/Cobra eater to play with!
