I am a gay officer in the armed forces and I think the GOP, of which I have voted for in every election until 2004, needs to become a lot more open-minded and really embrace the freedom it claims to stand for.

I know this comment will not be published but I think it is high time that the GOP modernize for my generation. My conservative heroes include Meghan McCain, S.E. Cupp and Ronald Reagan. I feel the old guard of conservative iconoclasts do not speak to me or my generation.

The GOP can prove they're for small government by working to get rid of right wing versions of big government that they currently embrace, like cutting wasteful spending in the military and ending the failed big government drug war.

For the last time, the GOP does NOT speak for "the American people." They now speak only for an increasing minority of white men.

Newsflash: the American people already spoke in 2008, and we voted for Obama and Democrats in massive numbers. What "the people" actually want is for both parties to work together.
