I would love to help clear the weeds and brush from that graveyard and when its all clear go and put flowers on all those graves and just in general help to keep it up, I would spend all my free days trying to help bring them back some kind of dignity , I would also love to give them ALL new grave stones and the ones that are unmarked try to find a way to identify them and give them a MARKED tomb stone Seeing this kind of stuff saddens me and enrages me at the same time. THAT' S NOT RIGHT.
That may well be but proves nothiing. It certainly does not absolve the 80 years of Neoslavery--far worse than antebellum slavery--that followed. That's what this video is about. Read the book and weep!!! The author is a conservative white southerner from Mississippi who did extensive research, his documentation cannot be disputed. It the shame of this country!
A memorial needs to be built here, a NATIONAL monument to the truth of what really happened!! If Birmingham is the Pittsburgh of the South, Pittsburgh is the Birmingham of the North. There should also be a monument to these poor slaves in front of the US Steel Building! It's too late for a Mandela Truth Commission, but we've got to do what we can still do. Reparations are cried out for even if in such simple & symbolic ways as an honest admission of guilt & an apology! NeoSlavery is our shame!
