  • ahw, 1:30 i just realised there is no painting behind that curtain

  • I got teary eyed watching this

  • I saw this when it aired on TV.

  • You know, if I was on the show and a guy said, This item is worth a hundred thousand dollars - I am pretty sure I would reply, "Wow! Tell you what, give me 50 thousand up front, it's all yours and you keep the rest!"

  • don't cry too close to the blanket...

  • @EphemeralVampire It's okay. It repels water.

  • Awww he's adorably shocked I love it! :D :D I love it when older people are geniune, nice people instead of pretentious assholes haha.

  • AWWW... 3:39

  • OMG! EVERYONE'S WHITE!

  • Dang. If I had this at my house, I would have let it go for 150. Or if Ivanka trump wanted it, a little anal.

  • The man's reaction was so touching. I think when he found out, he was thinking about how simple and poor his grandparents were, and how much of a difference it would have made in their lives if they had known. I'm glad it belongs to just a nice man.

  • @94123Serendipity Actually, that's Jamie Dawson, his son was arrested and sentenced to 5 years jail in 1978 for child molestation of Jamie's grandson.

  • That old man must of about had about had a heart attack after he found out how much it was worth. He's lucky. I can't find things like that at my house

  • @onenonlyprincess2 Really? That's weird. I find things like this in my house all the time!

    : )

  • @onenonlyprincess2 and once he farted is this "shit piece of textile" thinking life sucks as a poor guy

  • The guys on Pawn Stars would give him 500 bucks for it.

  • @7thwheel No doubt. I really like the show, and they seem like decent guys most times, but sometimes their offers are pretty bogus. The appraiser comes in and tells him it's worth between $5k and $12k, and he offers the dude two-grand. The guy's got a sick grandmother who needs a hip replacement or a new set of teeth, or whatever, so he grudgingly accepts the money. Ten seconds later, they're basically bragging about how they ripped the dude off and are going to quadruple their money. WTF?!

  • He looks like he almost had a heart attack.

  • this show is hilariously boring

  • @ushmo10 Well, at least you got a laugh out of it, eh?

  • @ushmo10 I imagine Antiques collectors would find whichever shows you watch as boring

  • My anal beads just left my ear while my leprechaun tickles my sphincter peace

  • @dcybsdcbxchbsdb There is something fundamentally wrong with your brain.

  • @dcybsdcbxchbsdb I just urinated in my mothers wedding dress whilst masturbating my nose with my index finger

  • good for that guy ahah awesome

  • "I Had no Idea..It was laying on the back of a chair." Priceless sincerity.

  • I always think that it's nice when someone reacts in the way that this gentleman does. I don't like the one's who don't bat an eyelid because it's like they don't need the money IYSWIM? Good on him.

  • watch 'born dealers' saturdays on Planet Green!

  • fuck off ted,, you knewe fine rightly that rug was worth something or you wouldnt bring the rag on to the show!!! ted= bullshit blanket.......

  • @nosebuzz007 Oy, bloke! Awl he knewe foyne roytly wus that et was in awld blonkit! Ya knowe, th' gent's sinceyah!

  • @nosebuzz007 Yeah..then Ted deserves an Oscar.

  • @lennomenno ted deserves smotherd with that blanket, hes letting on he didnt know was worth a fortune...

  • @nosebuzz007 With all due respect.. Ted owned the blanket for many years.I'm sure someone along the way told him it may have some value. No better place than the Roadshow to find out. If he really knew it could be worth a half a million..he really does deserve an Oscar for his reaction. :)

  • Man that meant so much to him. Hope its returned to the Native Americans. A Museum maybe.

  • I actually teared up at his reaction

  • I still love this video. I think his reaction is still the best I've ever seen on this show

  • I Ching hexagram 44

  • it's a blanket wow

  • @tamerseeker It's not just "a blanket," it's a hand-woven Ute Navajo textile that was woven nearly 150 years ago. Without the aid of machines, or commercial dies, or modern tools of any kind. And yet, it was woven with such care and skill that, even today, it can repel water without the need for chemical protection.

    Yeah, just a blanket!

  • @Ultranothing I'd wipe my ass with that.

  • @YourMainEventer Thanks for sharing. You're a really cool, funny, and important person, and we care about your thoughts and feelings.

  • @Ultranothing you OBVIOUSLY DO CARE because you replied to his comments TWICE! And it IS JUST A FUCKIN BLANKET... A blanket of money thats what it is! ^_._^

  • @KopaleKopale "you OBVIOUSLY DO CARE because you replied to his comments TWICE!"

Yes! It's MY video! On MY channel! And I DO care! You're so witty! Your deductive reasoning skills are commendable, I must say!

"And it IS JUST A FUCKIN BLANKET"

In the same way that a "car" is just a "car"? Or a "book" is just a "book? So there's no difference between a Ferrari and a Hyundai? No difference between a signed 1st edition of Tom Sawyer, or a paperback romance novel with Fabio on the cover?

  • @Ultranothing of course theres a difference! But no matter how much value we put on certain things that wont change the fact they are just things! ^_._^

  • @KopaleKopale They are just "things" to those who can neither understand nor appreciate their worth or usefulness.

  • @Ultranothing no... I understand perfectly! A piece of history for rich people... Useful for trading... YES!

  • @KopaleKopale You obviously do not understand. You are not ready to understand. Someday, hopefully, you will know.

  • @Ultranothing no YOU dont understand... ^_._^

  • @KopaleKopale No, you...

  • @Ultranothing no u, no u, no u... ;D

  • @KopaleKopale I know you are, but what am I? I'm rubber, you're glue - whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you!

  • @Ultranothing if you are rubber I can use you and by 2111 you would be an antique! ^_._^

  • @tamerseeker Why don't you run and play your video games? The grown-ups are discussing antiques.

  • His reaction is adorable!

  • search variety&collectibles on facebook!!!

  • I find this incredibly hard to masturbate to

  • little does he know, there's still traces of small pox on the blanket and he died the next day :( ... JK!!! holy sh!t 500K$??

anyway... im off to the VOA to buy all their old blankets

  • You know what I find humorous? That you all, no matter whose side you are on, call the Navajos "Indians" LMAO you ignorant fools. They are not Indians. There are comments blasting each other regarding lack of historical knowledge, and in the next sentence, the word "indian", pertaining to the natives of America. Why don't you get off youtube, and use the internet for a useful purpose; learn where and why the term "indian" came from when talking about the native people of the USA.

  • @p012208 We know the P.C term is native americans and I don't say Indians, but when you are a kid growing up you don't play cowboys and native americans. It's just what we teach our kids. It is wrong, but I like the word injuns

  • @convoku It is obvious that your understanding of history is limited to what bleeding-heart progressivism has fed you.

  • @Ultranothing Holy shit. You shut your white racist ass up.

You're standing on land that was taken from those people through bloodshed and "manifest destiny."

Even if you think that it's all in the past and you have no legal reason to give it back, have a little fucking decency and treat the people with respect. Ignore them if you have to, but don't talk to them like that. FFS.

  • @MrVillordo Your a dumb racist no chief would think you have any wisdom at all. On another note indains are poor loosers if they didnt want there land taken they should have fought better. Why is it white peoples fault indians got there ass kicked by everybody? = (Becuase they were'nt smart enough to come up with guns)

  • @MrVillordo Piece of shit STFU..what the fuck do you know about history? all you know is the way to the welfare office,...

  • @MrVillordo about 60% of the natives in canada, where i'm from, look just like dark haired white folks... i met a blonde muslim last week...if a person is 'evil' , it has nothing to do with what makes them the color they are.

  • @MrVillordo Yeah I believe it was given as a gift which means the original owner and the recipient had a strong, positive friendship that didn't include talking out their ass... like you do.

  • @MrVillordo stop bitching and open a casino

  • @wovokanarchy You got me wrong. I pretty much agree with everything you are saying here. It's just way out of context here, imo. I'm talking about how it was preserved for so long not knowing its real monetary value and could have brought ease in tough times. My point is you are insinuating either this poor fella or his grandmother decimated whole tribes of Navajo Native Americans, and that's where you can't draw the line between the individual and the American people as a whole in History.

  • Just another white man making millions of Native American lands and items. Nothing new happening here.

  • @wovokanarchy Yeah...that's a normal and natural assumption to make after watching this video...

    Go play in traffic.

  • @Ultranothing Well most likely the robe was stripped off a dead Ute or Navajo right after the American calvary came and shot and gunned down their entire village. Go play in a library and read.

  • @wovokanarchy Well that's a fact-less assumption and you have absolutely NO IDEA how the textile was originally acquired. It seems you base your entire world-view upon assumptions and prejudices.

Go to a library and read? What good would that do if I only chose to read books which fed my assumptions and prejudices and made me a thick-headed, closed-minded apologist for whatever ails the world so that I could feel "above it" and it did nothing more than feed my inflated ego, as yourself?

  • @Ultranothing Well if I came across a German show similar to this one where a person brought in a Jewish cultural item that was from pre-1939 I would feel safe in speculating how that individual acquired the item. Wouldn't you?

  • @wovokanarchy Oh, okay. That explains it right there. Thank you! :)

  • @wovokanarchy Have you the slightest idea that the White man also did commerce with the Native Americans? Your words are those of a person with unresolved issues and everyone can read the anger that's seeping through your posts. Targeting it at that seen here is the cake.

When I watched the vid, I got teared up for that poor old man - who probably had nothing to do with killing Native Americans -- and her grandmother. Poor farmers working hard while they had that. And finds out at 70.

  • @etiennedauphin Point taken. "Anger"? Are all Jews angry about the Holocaust and the fact Germany initiated one of the greatest crimes in history? Would you accuse a Jew of being ''angry''? I doubt it and you possibly know the reason why. As for being ''poor hard working farmers'', how did this person's ancestors come to own the land that they are farming?Where is the ''bill of sale'' from the original owners-the American Indian? How did America come to own virtually all land in the USA? Genocide

  • ohhh so nice :) good for him. im happy for him..

  • The man came from humble origins, the first thought that came to his mind was about his family, and not how much money he could spend by selling the blanket.Good for him, hope he is enjoying life now :)

  • I just seen this episode WTF?

  • Probably one of the best moments in television.

  • My penis is large and in charge.

  • @Tarck452 Yes, in charge of you, apparently. Does he demand that you mention him fondly on the internet?

  • @Ultranothing: What my penis wants, my penis gets...and what it wants is to throw up in your mouth.

  • @Tarck452 Sorry, I don't swing that way. But good luck in your search for a man.

  • @UserNamei5 The last painting I bought was from a guy named Robert Suret. A street artist who earns his living selling his paintings to the tourist at Key West FL. Maybe he agrees with your definition of art, I don't know but I think to him art has a much more practical purpose. It allows him to keep clothes on his back, food in his belly, gas in his old van and to live in a tropical paradise. After talking with him for a few I had half a mind to chuck it all and join him.

  • @UserNamei5 Where did you get that definition? It seems very limited to me. As a woodworker I fully appreciate the emotional high one gets from the act of creation. I also fully appreciate the money I earn when I sell one of my projects. Some artist create just for themselves but most are overjoyed if someone else thinks enough of their work to want to own it. And to some artist art is simply a means to an end. Namely, earning a living. The last painting I bought was just such an example.

  • @UserNamei5 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. "Art is not for making a profit with friend." What a load of crap. There is many an artist and art gallery that would argue that point. I think you need to come up for air your taking your art professor way too seriously.

  • @UserNamei5 I did not say everything should be in private hands. If people want to give or sell their art works to a museum that's great people do it every day. But no person or group has the right to take what is mine without my consent that's theft. And I would hate to live in a world run by you where what I'm allowed to own is subject to your approval. Artist SELL their work to make a living. If everything worth owning is confiscated for museums you'll put a stop to that real quick. Senile?!?

  • @UserNamei5 If you believed in the Declaration of Independence you would not say that. Why is something yours only if everybody else approves. What if you were the artist and they came and said that your work is too important to sell and for now on all your work will go into a museum. Who decides. What if the people who decide don't like you and just want to take your stuff. I repeat you are on a slippery slope. If your view held sway we would have no property rights at all.

  • @UserNamei5 I completely understand what u are saying but in my opinion property rights R irrevocable. Any attempt to take private property without consent is theft. U R on a very slippery slope. And yes if the continental Congress gave the D of I to GW and he passed it down 2 heirs it there's.

  • @UserNamei5 I could not disagree with you more. I understand the the need and importance of museums and why great works of art and other objects of historic interest are kept there. If Da Vincis or any other great artist gave or sold a painting or any other work of art to another individual it belongs to them to do with as they please. To pass down to family, put in a museum, sell or throw in the trash. Who has the right to decide what can be taken from me, you or any one and put in a museum

  • what a great guy

  • Another show the Yanks nicked from us !

  • @MrPaulpops2003 Yes sir! And, like everything else, we made it better! ;)

  • @Ultranothing Not a chance ,what have you made better ,Skins ,The Office ,Shameless ,Life on Mars ,Who wants to be a Millionaire ,Secret Millionaire,The Weakest Link ,Pop Idol ,Undercover Boss,X Factor,Wife Swap,Strictly Come Dancing ,Masterchef ,Changing Rooms .................to name but a few ................anyway half the Antiques on your show ,come from Britain ,as we have a little more history ..................and originality then the Yanks lol

  • Just to be clear, none of the shows were "nicked" - they're either popular shows that the writers/producers syndicated in the U.S., or the rights were obtained legally.

But let's not forget about all the "nicked" shows the Brits stole from the U.S.:

Britain's Next Top Model, Jeopardy!, The Price is Right, Saturday Live!, The Apprentice, Celebrity Soup, Wheel of Fortune, The Upper Hand, Days Like These, Celebrity Squares, etc...

Oh, and syndications of The Simpsons, Family Guy, yadda yadda..

  • @MrPaulpops2003 LOL.

  • @MrPaulpops2003 Hey now, turn on your TV. See! Let us watch some of your stuff!

OKwe remake all of your good shows, but it's not because the people want it that way. It's simply that Hollywood is held hostage by American production companies.

Tell you what, you take the heads of the most popular production companies and put them all on one boat for a "Free Cruise to the British Isles" and accidentally sink the boat. We'll take out Piers Morgan for you so he can never return to the U.K. Deal?

  • @MrPaulpops2003 sincerest form of flattery.

  • Fuck all of you racist assholes, I am a very proud member of the Cherokee nation, and surprise have worked my entire life, and do pay my bills!!! My people have a very large, and well kept museum at our headquarters in Oklahoma! Give it back? Give it back to who? None of you bone headed assholes would give back a dime, let alone that blanket! and the next time you want to make racist statements, remember it just shows how ignorant you are!!!!

  • @UserNamei5 Native americans cant even handle keeping jobs or paying bills, how do you think they can run a museum?

  • @UserNamei5 If Da Vinci had painted the last supper on canvas and sold or given the painting to someone in a private transaction and it was passed down than it belongs to heirs not a museum. Same with this blanket. If Kit Carson bought or traded for it than it was his to do with as he pleased and no one has a claim but the current owner.

  • still my favorite antique roadshow moment..still gets me teary eyed

  • I'm happy for the guy!

  • I can't get over how much he sounds like Mermaid Man from Spongebob Squarepants.

  • Shit i can't believe it lol

  • What a sweet old man:)

  • i tought this was some boring show, but since gaga is a fan i will wathc it, hahaha

  • @lovinitwow I tought I taw a puddy-tat!

  • If I was an appraiser on Antiques Roadshow and was rich I would be referred to as the " Appraiser From Hell ". I would appraise item's, smash them, say oops, then open up my wallet and pay off the person for what their item was worth. Then once my wallet was empty I would call over my stupid assed assistant to bring me more cash to refill my wallet.

  • I was wondering why they were covering it but then realized I was looking at it. Man I am blind Lol but that thing is good money.

  • @UserNamei5 It is in a museum.

  • Good for him!

  • First place Antiques roadshow

  • it belongs on a Yute Chief,Where Else/>.?.

  • Where is it? When is that guy going to uncover the art piece from under that dingy cloth cover?

  • @UserNamei5 Riiiiight, because I'm sure this man's grandparents thought "hey, I bet if we steal a blanket from the Navajos our grandchildren will be rich!" Give me a break - If this gentleman had known the worth of a blanket, passed down from his "poor farmer" grandparents, I'm pretty sure he would have taken it to a museum long ago. He's clearly a salt of the earth guy, not one purposely hiding a "national treasure" from society. Good grief.

  • My parent's home has a mixture of both furniture/artifacts/textiles they've purchased throughout their marriage, and inherited - which are the pieces I love most. I know they're not worth anything close to this blanket but their individual histories, in my opinion, are invaluable. It saddens me to think our culture's "need" for brand spankin' new could potentially dissolve the wonderful tradition of family heirlooms. I'm only 20, but can't wait to have some of my family's pieces in my own home

  • @UserNamei5 "It belongs in a Museum" - It is now in a museum.

"It isnt like the US Government respects Indians. You ever been to a Navajo Reservation?"

Government-subsidized Indian reservations are among the poorest, because they've been starved of their pride and their ability to be self-sustaining. Compare them with reservations who do not accept government funding - I think you'll be very surprised.

These textiles are very rare, meaning they were obviously not well taken care of.

  • @Ultranothing more like they are lazy and just want to drink and live off of government money.

  • @UserNamei5

    Where does it belong then?

  • @krizm And you did nothing to help him? You just stood by and watched an old man get robbed and beaten?

But we all know you're full of it, because the textile was sold for half a million dollars to a museum, and Ted and his wife bought a retirement home in Florida. Whassup?

  • @krizm How's Virginity treating you?

  • @VicVinegar hows virginity treating u, i can tell ur a virgin by ur channel videos

  • @krizm Great comeback, saying exactly what I just said to you. You must be a genius. Don't worry you'll get laid someday.... some girl will be too drunk to push you off her and it'll be the most magical 5 seconds of her life.

  • killed a red indian then got half a million for selling the goods

  • go to thejivinivan and look at the AuntStinks Roadshow you will laugh!!!

  • they discovered Gold but no wealth at all in the family, what the fuck, it's not like they discovered mud when they were poor farmers, anyway good for him, he seems like a very likeable person

  • I think he just about swallowed his dentures.

  • no im not kidding. they are called native americans.

  • ---And that's how you are supposed to react...

  • @adam4397 "And that's how you are supposed to react.."

In a world where everyone is exactly the same, I suppose you're right.

  • At first, I was waiting for them to take away that blanket to unveil the Antique =P

  • Aww, I'm happy for him. I was a bit concerned for his health when they told him what it was worth though. They should have told him to sit down first maybe. Dude looked like he was gonna keel over.

  • Too bad hes too old to really enjoy the money. And I know what you are thinking...hes gunna give it to his children or grandchildren or for college or something but they will never appreciate it...

  • This man is humble and he deserved it.Wish him all the best with his newfound wealth :)

  • I cannot express as to how happy I am for this man. ~Carol in Nashville

  • Take a greasy dump and wipe my ass with it.

  • Set it on fire.

  • @amauta5 Do you always view the world through the eyes of assumptions?

  • @Ultranothing Usually, however on this video I do like the man's reaction. Very humble and happy for his find. Although, I'd love to know how they got it in the first place.

  • @amauta5

Yes, not everything valuable thing is gained through treachery. Some things are gifts and some things are traded and some things are bought.

  • @angelamcruz79 "can't believe white people kill the indians and took there land and they want to be rich on there valuable blankets, jewelry, rugs, pottery. It should be donated back to there ancestors. Is all BLOOD MONEY!"

Well, since only a few of these Ute textiles exist today, perhaps you should consider appreciating the fact that this (white) man and his (evil white) family took such great care to preserve it for over a hundred years?

  • @Ultranothing Well im sure they would since it was gonna be worth lots of money

  • @angelamcruz79 "Well im sure they would since it was gonna be worth lots of money"

Well, if you were able to understand reality, you'd quickly discover that this (greedy white) man "hadn't a clue" that the blanket was worth much if anything...

  • @Ultranothing

yet fact remains: white people rich off dead indians (this = example)

  • @angelamcruz79 Also in addition to Ultranothing's comments. There is a difference between "there" and "their" that you should probably know about.

  • @angelamcruz79 it was the latinos the spanish that killed the natives . get your facts straght

  • @choongbren ahahaha .... riiiiiight .... ever hear of US Cavalry?

  • @angelamcruz79 The land is granted to the children of the man, named "Israel". Those Chinese, who crossed the berin land bridge were invadin another man's land, in his absence.

  • @spurnthemuse There was no China 12,000 years ago.

  • @angelamcruz79. I dont disagree, but i dont think that was really the case here. That old man certainly didnt pillage any villages

  • @angelamcruz79 native americans. not indians. Get it right if your gonna preach

  • @MyEnime are you kidding me?

  • @angelamcruz79 Get over yourself; the guy seems genuinely nice.

  • @Nightx88 your right!!!My bad!!!!! People i'm sorry, i shouldnt of judge this person.

  • my favorite appraisal ever, thanks ultranothing for all of your videos and especially for your responses to the ignorance displayed under some of your postings. keep up the good work. love reading them.

  • @Mikebargain "Yes i know i may be Flagged but is ok "

Well, yes - you were flagged, and yes - is okay.

"i'm not scamers or advertising Fake Products."

People tend to be extra cautious when dealing with a salesman who introduces themselves as "not a scammer", just so you're aware.

"Just Simple if you want to get good deals in electronics and Computers accessories Visit my Store..."

A video about antiques isn't exactly a relevant setting for publicizing your electronics/computer store.

  • if i had that in my house, i wouldve thrown it out thinkin it was junk o_o

  • @tysonthepooper I know right?! Ha ha...

  • @tysonthepooper Well...that's not very smart.

  • His reaction is priceless, all his financial problems are over

  • i wouldnt have a glue about blankets history, that suprised me
