  • Whe did the voices of the mice?

  • Jerry Nelson and Richard Hunt.

  • "I got other gigs, I don't need this baby." LOL

I love Kermit's fairy tale news. It was one of the best parts of old Sesame Street.

  • i miss his brown hat..

  • He says: "Pardon me, sir, pardon me."

  • it was "pardon me."

  • The mice like the whistle that Kermit makes instead of the flute...LOL

  • This is one of my favorite Sesame Street News

  • This is one of my favorite Sesame Street News

I didn't really like the Princess and the Cookie

Cookie Monster tears up a bunch of mattresses at the end.

  • I don't want to see Princess and the Cookie.

Cookie Monster tears up a bunch of mattresses at

the end of the nursery rhyme what a terrible

    ending.

  • Hameln is 10 miles away from my hometown. Love this episode (pied piper is the man!) Me and my brother having a radio show on the local radio station in hameln and before we start to kick our music, the actually pied piper actor of Hameln has also a radio show (togheter with his son)

  • i love this!!!!!!

  • best show when i was a kid

  • Kermit's original brown hat is so much cooler than the gray one he wears later.

Kermit the Reporter is the best!

  • The Pied Piper reminds me of Ike Turner. Glad he didn't beat Kermit up!

  • ha ha ha.i like how kermit was always caught off-guard

  • How do you mean?

  • "Can't believe it! Start BLOWIN' BABY BLOW! BLOW! WHISTLE BABY WHISTLE!" LOL If you do NOT see that video hearing these words... LOL

  • Call me Pied baby, Pied. HAHAHHAHA

  • I remember this newsflash from the seventies, when I was a dedicated Sesame Street viewer. However, I'll never think about it as funny since reading, and then watching, The Sweet Hereafter.

    drora.

  • "Just like the pied piper,

    led rats through the streets.

    we dance like marionettes,

    swinging to the symphony,

    of destruction". -MEGADETH

  • kermit always was such a fervent journalist

  • huh this is so funny because i played te pied piper in a school play. i love this. my 2 of my bfs (best fiends.) brooklyn and brendan were in the town council

  • What a coincidence. I too played the Pied Piper once. But I don't off hand recall seeing this skit when I was a kid. It's pretty cool. Though Frank Oz uses a slightly higher voice here than usual. It's pretty easy to hear the voices of Richard Hunt and Jerry Nelson among the rats. Three other News Flashes I don't remember seeing are Aladdin, Jack Be Nimble, and Old Mother Hubbard. Someone please upload those.

  • I think the pied piper got a hold of some good weed.

  • rarely is there such a happy ending to Kermit's news spots

  • "Hey...you're a frog! Far out!"..."Yeah, well, babe, I'm gonna lay down some music on the old flute here. The mice are gonna dig it, see and the mice are gonna follow me out of this hick town..."

  • X D

    Love it!!

  • Wish I had the News Flash music on my cell phone...

  • Here are some more Sesame Street News Flashes I'd like to see. Mirror Mirror, Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves, George Washington's Father's Cherry Orchard, Princess And The Cookie, Humpty Dumpty, THe Old Woman Who Lived In A Shoe, and I guess that's it. Well, except for the one where Dr Nobel Price makes a robot replica of Kermit. That one was good.

  • *shivers* Humpty Dumpty scared the crap out of me as a kid. No I wanna see it again!

  • And speaking of Humpty Dumpty, I noticed that Frank Oz almost always plays the lead roles in these fairy tales and nursery rhymes done in these special reports.

  • You know, I know I didn't know the history on this and it was hard to find these skits! The Sesame Street website is not helpful about finding older shows, even thogh, I tend to think that they would do very well if they put them on video from the first show to the present.

  • Sesame Workshop said that they're the company behind Sesame Street. But that's not true. Sesame Street was made by Jim Henson in 1969 and was sold to Sesame Workshop in 2001.

  • Actually, CTW and Jim Henson both co-created it in 1969.

  • That beatnik is SO FUNNY! Frank Oz has a tendancy to steal the show in these news flash skits.

Also, this skit is actually from 1972, not 1971. I can tell because Richard Hunt performs some of the mice, and Richard Hunt joined the show in 1972.

  • Wow! Kermit actually helped and was complimented in this one. He is usually messing up the nursery rhyme or getting dumped on by the characters.

  • No baby, it ain't workin' ... I've got other gigs I don't need this baby - I'm cuttin' out! Byebye babe!

    LMAO!!!

  • Right on, Right on!

  • was he trippin i think so

  • WOW FINALY one with some Valume.

Remember to turn the sound up when you recored these pleae.

  • Think the piper wasn't trying hard enough.

  • Re "Think the piper wasn't trying hard enough." Whaddya expect from a lazy pot-smokin' hippy? :-)

  • Oh yeah, that guy was as high as a kite man ("Call me Pied, baby, Pied") "I'm laying this stuff down and these mice just ain't pickin' it up, ya dig?" LOL!

  • Perhaps the Pied Piper had an opportunity to take lessons from James Galway, when Mr Galway visited Sesame Street.

  • Mr. Galway visited sesame street? wow maybe I was too young to see that episode...

  • Oh my God!! I laughed so hard at this, I almost hurt myself. I guess it's true they say none of this stuff is really for kids, but is for the adults, cause when I was little, I thought it was funny, but not THAT funny. When the mice are all dissing his music, it's hilarious!!!

  • My childhood has returned. We need to petition to get Sesame Street seasons on DVD!

  • Call me pied, baby.. piiied! lol.

  • They have a DVD set out called "Old School Sesame Street: Vol 1, 1969-1974". You can get it at Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Ebay, etc.

  • And volume 2, 75-79 is due in november.

  • "Yuck. PU" rodents are tough critics

  • Far Out!

  • I remember this so well. The pide piper looks and sounds just like my gang banger cousin.. I was so young... He and I watched this laughing.. My cousin was cracking up laughing... Needless to say, he smoked those funny cigerettes.... Wow... What a great time in Chi-town... I really miss it..

  • More News Flash! Please! :)

  • Pied Piper looks a lot like Guy Smiley... :-P

  • HEY YOU'RE A FROG........FAR OUT!!! NO, HE'S NOT SMOKING THE CHRONNNNNNIC!!!

    CALL ME PIED, BABY....PIED....

  • What's incredible is how this stuff lays dormant in one's mind for 30+ years, ony to be instantly recalled when seen again. Wow, great blast from the past. Sesame Street ruled the airwaves of my youth. Thanks for posting this.

  • In the real story of the Pied Piper the town had rats not mice.

  • Thanks. I would also like more News Flashes too. Thaks again.

  • Hey it's Guy Smiley with a beard! :D

  • It's Guy Smiley as a beatnick :-)

  • i love this one! :)

  • Kermit's Sesame Street News Flashes are awesome! Thanks for putting another one on here!

  • Frank Oz as a beatnik is just too funny for words. "Hey, man, hey! Now I'm layin' this stuff down, and these mice just ain't pickin' it up, dig?" CLASSIC!!!

I don't suppose anyone has the News Flash where Rapunzel had a New York accent?

  • yes, its here wwwyoutubecom/watch?v=uVaRaXEiDd4

  • Hehe.....that silly piper! " Call me Piiiied, baby, Piiiiiied" LOL

  • Okay, Piiied.... LOL

  • Classic! If you can upload more of the News Flashes, that'd be awesome!
