  • I saw her at the Roxy with the heads

  • I used to smoke bananna peels to this song

  • @bigdsears That just conjures up so many images and memories. LMAO. Thank you for making my day

  • one of the most fantastic voices of our times

  • Remarkable singer - first rate band!

  • love this band and this song she is such a great singer

  • This is just a beautiful touching song. The voice gives shivers. Please take me back to the time of real creative music.

  • I had this CD. I bought it when it first hit the shelves. I loved every song on it and I probebly played it well over a thousand times. Her voice is timeless and so is she.

  • It was something to party back in these days...very special days.

  • I love the guitar solos by James Mankey. The only other hauntingly beautiful solos like that (that I can think of off the top of my head right now) would be David Gilmour's. I certain love blazing fast technicians like Eddie Van Halen or Yngwie Malmsteen, but I enjoy solos like this way more -- they just have more "soul" to them. :D

  • I saw the heads at the Roxy with Johnette on lead vocals awesome show

  • MY girl just showed me this beautiful song a couple days ago, god have I been missing out <3

  • i had this CD

  • Que buena canción!! la primera vez q los vi, fue en VH1, y desde ahi soy un fanatico de su musica.

  • I think i'll have a cold-one and listen to this song...

  • this song has a wistful ..lonely soul ..that will live forever...I know i will listen ..when it comes to visit

  • Fuckin' beautiful, this song.

  • Anyone know the story behind this song?

  • Hash73 but I like that music, too..

I don't care what anyone likes or doesn't like or what's mainstream or not, if its good, it will find its way to me..

I can like both concrete blonde and Madonna :)

  • I thought Tori Amos was quiet good as well Hacker.

  • Sing it Hacker 73 you are on point, 100% correct! Poor mass bastards listen to MIDIed computerized garbage. These current hacks don't play, arrange, any of their music. Back in High school our song leaders lip synched to music, did not make them accopmplished musicians. Apple downloaders, music corps are idiots who put out crap! Pure talented musicans are few and far between, not corp made Taylor Swift playing four chords, or Gaga not even playing four chords, using Bowie era shock value as art

  • So sad..

  • brilliant

  • keeps the likes at 420!!!!

  • damn, i used to drink so hard listening to this album - this and "dream of life" by patti smith. i still hit the suds from time to time (like tonite!) but i'm not trying to drink myself to death anymore. but this song will always sound like 7 vodka tonics to me...

  • Love her voice ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Joey is good too.

  • One of my favorites eveeeeer

  • ya 80's !!!!

  • @2006xr650r this song is from '90.

  • one of my fav female artists of all time, what a voice, such sadness and emotion. if you love this check out the version of tomorrow wendy with andy prieboy on piano.

  • It would be nice if Vevo would turn the volume up beyond a whisper.

  • what a song...I just love it

  • Amazing voice. Don't even know what else to say beyond that, but she puts most to shame. Velvet covered steel, gorgeous and deadly cuts in the emotional sense.

  • i had this album back when i was drinking hard, years ago. this and patti smith's dream of life. i was hurting over a woman i had lost, lost to never come back again and i would come home from work and open that bottle and put this on and go away into a land of pain. there is no better music for drownding in self-pity than this record.

  • @popstone1 I'll drink to that

  • @popstone1 I get it completely, popstone1.

I am where you were then - right at this moment..... Exact same situation.. doing the same....

I hope this song healed you.

  • @popstone1 Fuck, dude. Now, I can understand why people commit suicide.

  • The Voice! This is a voice, the attitude is rock, what happened to all this great music?

I mean what do they listen to now GAGA>? Poor youth they are being cheated.

Concrete Blond at the Rainbow room, on Sunset..She is better live then recorded..

the emotion of her singing is haunting..mesmorizing.

Sadly the art of live performance seems to be lost.

  • @nel21410mt I love Johnette, but don't dis Gaga. She is very brave, too. JN may have paved the way, and I'd love to hear Gaga even *attempt* to do a JN song, but she isn't exactly afraid to put herself out there.

  • Why do the greatest bands have to be SO under-rated and so under-appreciated? Simple: the Industrial "Music" SHITSTEM is ruled by PERVERT PSICHOPATICS who only want sell ROTTEN UGLY SHIT FAKES such as Madonna and Gaga and they want made us all a bunch of billions of MOROMS with NO sense of good taste for so good things and REAL TALENTED ARTISTS such as Concrete Blonde, Public Image, Bolshoi, Alphaville, Irene Cara, Sinead O'Connor, Kim Carnes, Sandra, Laura Branigan, Randy Bush, Suzi Quatro...

  • @nel21410mt I am 13 years old. GNR, Old school Green Day, Concrete Blonde, Queen, Stevie Nicks, Nirvana, Ozzy, Bob Marley, and AC/DC are my favorite bands. Don't group us all together, please.

  • @SaintJaded check out chapel grove, There's no age limit to liking good music. You get a thumbs up from CG. \m/

  • @nel21410mt

Well, this is for people who appreciate musicianship, performance, and grown-up lyrics and mentalities.

What we have now is music for 10-year-olds who think the latest karaoke, pantomime, Whitney Houston wannabe from American Idol. the Voice, or the "X" Factor is talented.

That's not meant as a cheap shot at Houston, she did her thing first. But even she didn't do what you see going-on here. This is on another level; the 'Blonde actually - make - this music.

  • Thumbs up if you camed here because of Adam Gontier's V Log :)

  • i jus want to fuhk her ,,i love her so much....lol..jk

  • Even when I was 14, listening to this song for the first time, I understood the desperation in Johnette's voice. And now that I'm older and "wiser", well, I still get it.

  • Napolitano's voice is just so full of character. "Smoky" is a cliche but it seems apt in her case. Her voice is almost, but not quite, on the verge of cracking (see :45, :46, 1:02). Check out her punctuating screams at 1:23, 3:30, and 3:44. And her range! She starts in a sultry baritone and soars to an alto. The melody, backing vocals, and lyrics are just perfecting. I think I'm in love ...

  • THELXP - back at ya. Napolitano and Mankey still play together with a lot of their team members. Maybe I'm just a pervert jerk, but dammit if couldn't one day make love to her. Not pornographic like. Just a beautiful moment. On the off chance Joanette reads these YouTube pages... just look me up, toots!! Seriously! No one is getting any younger. I'm joeygouda (NOT JONNY) on Skype and I'm Jonnygouda on facebook.

I'm just sayin' hon. We could have fun.

  • J'ai vu ce band à la Brick a Montréal...cétait vraiment vraiment hot. Une voix enchanteresse...

  • Great song. Love the guitar solo on this song.

  • It's ALL about Johnette Napolitano, Siouxsie Sioux, and Bjork. The absolute BEST female vocalists. ::sighs:: I adore Concrete Blonde. <3

  • There are times her voice reminds me of a female chris isaac

  • Somethnig has to be said about a quaity 3 piece band. Reminds of faith no more..so talented and so underrated.

  • Very nostalgic song 4 me. It takes me back 2 way simpler times. James Mankey is one of the world's most underrated guitar players!

  • One of my fav Concrete Blonde! Thanks!

  • why would someone dislike this?

  • LUV IT

  • Best Caroline Song I know, I have always loved this tune. Love the video too....

  • it's hard to watch this video with justin bieber looking at me in that ridiculous emi bg. i wonder if he's ever even heard of concrete blonde.

  • magical

  • They were good. Love her voice and Mankey's guitar playing.

  • Haunting tone. Very spacey. Great song. Love it.

  • On this song, with Johnette singing at such a low register, I thought for the longest time that it was a male singer doing Caroline!

  • May I go on record as saying that Johnette is postively gorgeous in every sense?

  • THAT.

  • absolutely beautiful voice

  • nice song..5******

  • Deserving of more praise than I can offer, a few off kilter songs, not for the common crowd. But so many good ones.

  • one of timeless piecess....<3

  • My God...was there anyone ever that could expose and heal your soul like she does? Napolitano rules what is real and raw. I thank her for it.

  • soundtrack to my adolescene...thnk god this was our outlet..Concrete Blonde is forever my #1

  • This is my fav song on Bloodletting.... hmmmmm Why oh Why did they not become bigger ... not alot of people i talk too even know of there exsistance yet i find them to be probally one of the best ever... Bloodletting IMO is one of the BEST albums ever made every single song is so good i never tire of it after all these years

  • can you imagine that voice in you ear...?

  • love this band!!!! Check out my country originals....sign me emi!!!! adding another this week!

  • Johnette is my favorite female vocalist of all time...definitely agree that they never got the credit they deserve. I can listen to Bloodletting over and over again without ever getting tired of it.

  • they rock, love them

  • Concrete Blonde has a special place in my youth back in high school. I saw them live @ Ameoba records i Hollywood. Best show of my life.

  • Where did this band go? I see a tribute to Johnette N. further down, is she lost for all time? Her voice and music may be ours forever but....

  • @TheEleleth no! she is very much around! has new music...plays a lot...get her "scarred" cd...is in australia right now...google her....

  • @CyndyNeg Oo!Fabulous,thank you,got to check it out!

  • Just one of the many reasons "Bloodletting" is so awesome. What a haunting song. The remastered version that just came out is great!

  • Amy Lee needs to take some instruction from her!

  • great band!

  • She is fucking good - I like.

  • I'm friends with her niece. They actually kinda look alike in some ways

  • This song or group never got the real credit they deserved. Johnette Napolitano is one of the greatest female vocalists I've ever listened too and I've heard a lot.

  • @THELXP I SO agree! CB was awesome and I remember very clearly when their albums would be released. I always loved to hear there music and still listen to them to this day.

  • @THELXP Well said, I totally agree.

  • @THELXP The great thing is, not only are their lives shows still as good (if not better...Bloodletting 20 Years Later ROCKED), but real fans can enjoy them in more intimate settings. Catch 22 really, but yeah, talent and brains seem to pass people by quite often.

  • @THELXP

Not to mention that she's one of the hands-down best and most underrated lyricists and songwriters.

  • @THELXP sometimes the more talented, different and unique they are, the less people pay attention as they cant get to understand this music, just a few ones i guess

  • HIPSTERS BACK OFF

jk this one is too good for any labels to ruin it for me

  • My favorite song!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I truly, truly love this song and never tire of hearing it.

  • @deussolinvictus It's one of those timeless songs;not faddish or dated. And haunting.I love this band.Got to see them live.once.years back. Not the greatest venue but they transcended it.

  • Fell in love with this tune the first time I heard it. Johnette's vocals are hauntingly awesome on this tune.

  • This song always reminds me of my sister, there's no one like Jonnette to put it in words, Hope to see this wonderful talent in Houston soon!
