  • interesting how both films were misunderstood when they first came out. And now they're all time favorites.

  • Team Zissou wins, their song was much better.

  • Who would you rather have watch your back in a alleyfight? Team Banzai or Team Zissou.

My money is on Banzai. You can't go wrong with Clancy Brown and Robocop!

  • Buckaroo Banzai wins without arguement. Although Life Aquatic is fun... nobody can reach the relitivity of being as awsome as Buckaroo Banzai.

  • It's a story about an adventurer in his prime vs a story about a washed up adventurer.

  • And Jeff Goldblum was in both. I wonder what he thinks.

  • I'm just not seeing this here. Buckaroo clear winner *still*

  • im sorry, but any movie with john bigbooty and john small berries wins any matchup.

and that synth tune cannot be stopped

  • buckarooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Banzai would own Zissou

  • Buckaroo was a mega-badass.

  • it's robocop in a pee-wee outfit!!!

  • the whole reason that the ending of the life aquatic ended like that was because he was paying respect to the end credits of buckaroo banzai, both where great movies that sit in my collection...

  • BLue Blaze Irregulars ROck!

    Go Team Zissou!

    Thank you for this posting,

    XOXO

  • No Man, the Hong Kong Cavaliers!

  • To all Blue Blazers : Buckaroo is The Man !!!

  • And Goldblum in both teams...

  • in another dimension this would be robocop vs. peter venkman

  • @wickkidda And then the fight the Jaguar Shark!

  • too kool i lovem all hey thanks for postin man good call and the president is on line two! thanks again ajmycyver over and out

  • Holy shit, you're a frikkin' genious! :D

  • Apparently this scene in The Life Aquatic, walking along the pier, was inspired by the Buckaroo Banzai credits scene.. As I guess you knew already..

Thanks for reminding me to go listen to some Bowie ! I have the 45rpm single of A:Rebel Rebel/B:Queen Bitch somewhere..

  • Life Aquatic is pretty good, seemed a little better on second viewing, but if you like Bowie, you should listen to some of the Portuguese acoustic versions that Seu George played in the movie. I bet a resourceful person could find the soundtrack to Life Aquatic floating around the internets if he had an interest. ;) I don't know Portuguese, but it's jarring in a good way to hear familiar electric English songs played acoustic and Portuguese.

  • Bowie songs minus electic guitar in Portuguese.. sounds like the aural equivalent of your baba ganoush/peanut butter flavored frozen custard/hair recipe..

    I have Bowie doing " Heroes " in English/German/French..

In the spirit of gentle adventurism, I shall find these Portuguese canções.. tally ho..

  • No, it's not a bad combination. I find that almost any good song can translate to other seemingly different musical styles or unusual instruments and still sound good, more or less.

  • I have a memory of that album "The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle" which contained a version of "Anarchy in the UK" done in French by street musicians, with accordian and fiddle, and Serge Gainsbourg-like vocals -called "L'Anarchie Pour Le UK".. it is fantastic.

That album also had a disco medley of "Anarchy in the UK"/"God Save The Queen"/"Pretty Vacant"/"No One is Innocent" by the Black Arabs.. That is wild, you hear punk lyrics, but as a Studio 54 musical arrangement ! Funky !

  • I will upload it if I can work out how to fit the 33rpm album into the cd burner..

  • @DrHoldowicz

What is even more by chance is how the docu-films of Zissou is similar to the deleted opening to Buckaroo.

  • Team Zissou! Go Team Zissou!

  • awesome

  • cool
