  • Lol its the same demo for the kfk. I know its the same pedal but still

  • Well that was 3 minutes of bullshit

  • This demo video would be a ton more effective if you used a similar riff for each setting demo'ed - it's difficult to discern tonal changes without a reference or benchmark.

  • how could I get a Randy Rhoads tone out of this? I like his sound a lot

  • @mattRRgraham1996 randy rhoads did indeed use a 10 band eq. put the 10 band eq between a cranked marshall and a distortion +, and you might get pretty close to his tone.

  • @gwombat ok thanks man! i mean i dont have a marshall (probs wont for a while) i do however have both a distortion plus and the ten band eq. i just cant have both on

  • Can I get the tab to that metal riff? Haha

I really do want this pedal though. Well done MXR

  • I love this pedal. I admit it took some time to work out the tones I was looking for but if used properly it can make a difference. It DOES however need a strong power supply.

  • i dont think this guys as cool as he thinks. plus i hate the way he plays. you dont have to always play as fast as you can dude. your not impressing anybody

  • and also with the power adapter plug included with it, do wou have to have it plugged into some kind of special pedal power supply or can you just plug it into a wall outlet?

  • @topdog2328 The wall is fine

  • does the gain knob act as a level control or like a distortion control on it?

  • does he uses distortion or is it only the pedal and the amp

    ?

  • @yamahabmxer1 distortion, this pedal is an EQ, it can't make a distortion sound, it works like an equalizer like you have in recording software to make you sound godlike. For distortion you'll still need to switch to the lead channel of your amp (or a pedal)

  • Comment removed

  • I'm getting one from amazon.com. do i have to buy the adapter separately or is it included?

  • @wuwei5150 included

  • Tera Patrick's husband...!

  • hey....i tried to use this pedal as a booster for solos in my dist chanel and i do get a lot of tone and sustain but the volume doesn´t change.....what do i do??

  • @ParkingLot1995 it isnt a volume boost pedal it's an EQ. If you want to get a boost try the CAE MXR clean boost

  • the hidden brother of Kerry King lol

Nice tone, wath is the song played at 1:53 please ?

  • that's a righteous beard.

  • i read somewhere that the frequency range on the standard six-string guitar is 82.4, open low E string to 1319, 24th fret high E string. any thoughts or corrections?

  • 2:20 i jizzed

  • MXR M108 Has 56% Discount Now!!!

    at w w w . cheapbuy-online . c o m / mxr-m108

    don't miss only.

  • this guy is almost as weird as Johnny Demarco

  • I just noticed something, its pretty uch the same video as the demo for the kfk version of this eq pedal.

    Wtf??

  • @jessem220 Yeah it is except they use pictures of the KFK in that vid, otherwise it's the exact same.

  • Could I use thegigrig generator to power it? I used to use a DC Brick but the piece of shit started pulsing on and off during a practice if a boss pedal was attached and has been like that ever since...

  • Whel there you have it!!

  • What's better, this or EHX's graphic fuzz?

  • Sounds exactly the same as the Kerry king EQ... definitely going to save my money and buy the regular EQ

  • The examples he gave sounded better "before" and the final scoop setting didn't even show a before example. Fail.

  • The lowest freq. slider and top two sliders are useless. Well beyond guitar fundamentals and harmonics.

  • @chopperdeath Not if you're using an octave pedal. I've also got an EHX micro synth which has mad sub bass.

  • @suroj Right!

  • I use this with an MXR boost and an Axe FX through a Rockerverb Stack and it sounds great.

  • can i get an FM Radio sound with this pedal?

  • @angusyoung98 Yes.

  • @angusyoung98 Your guitar already sounds like an FM radio... are you trolling?

  • @xloserx4xchristx lol no! i just thought i'd be fun to play a guitar like an FM radio, don't be so sensitive

  • @angusyoung98 stick your Strat next to an FM radio. Done. Those single coil pickups are basically antennae.

  • If you want a distortion boost, just get a metal muff or another pedal with built in boost. Easily cuts through and doesn't have 10 bloody confusing sliders. Simples.

  • why couldn't you show the bypass sound and then with the pedal turned on... now i don't want to buy this pedal

  • i have a guitar aet up with lace sencor gold single coils would this pedal realy boost the out put of these pickups

  • @metalrocker68 a g&l legacy? i think

  • I have one of these. I got it to give my lead solos a "boost".

It doesn't boost volume at all. I'm pissed off.

  • @Baadger that's exactly what I wanted to try it for... Nuts...

  • @Baadger its not a volume booster... its an eq booster... ie, using it to boost the mids so that solo's can cut through the mix, or get some crazy sounds

  • @Baadger MXR micro amp boost pedal

  • @Baadger i agree i thought my volume slider was broken on it, but it doesnt seem to do anything, maybe someone on here could help me out and tell me why the volume slider doesnt work at all, im afraid to run it through a tube amp. so not just you man, but anyone on here have any ideas?

  • @fendersglespaul I think this mxr is meant to be used with preamp effects units, not onboard ones (i.e on the amp itself). My amp is a Marshall Vintage Modern, the gain and distorion is done on the amp itself, so the mxr eq merely saturates my signal before it reaches the amp instead of boosting actual volume...

  • That beard is triumphant

  • say if i wanted to use this to make my distorted tone rin g through for a bit more lead what kinda settings could u use ?

  • I find this pedal useless...just made everything sound lifeless and fake.

  • It's always funny to me when they talk about metal tones in these demos. Metal uses very rich, high gain, chugging distortion, and yet this guy is using overdrive at best. I really get the feeling this guy doesn't even listen to metal.

  • Metal isn't all bar chords...damn.

  • Dreadfull demo - cant see the point in this at all - I have a tone pot on my guitar, tone pots on my amp, - if your tone is still crap - this isnt going to help - you need different gear.

  • It didn't sound like scooped mids...

  • Dunlop.......that video was lame. Doesn't show enough possibilities of the pedal.

  • everysingle time he plays something metal he alwyas goes down fret by fret its kinda annoying

  • this pedal would be better if it had a switch to use the volume and gain sliders without the eq

  • this guy is good but right hand is moving too fast to understand the tone

  • Eighteen volts? That's not compatable with anything.

  • Scooping mids is for fails.

  • @aligatorsandwitch72 lol......fails?

  • Great sound! what kind of pickups are You using?

  • @Murmeniusz single coils , i think

  • @ParkingLot1995 Sure. But witch mark of single coils? dimarzio? emg? or something different?

  • How will that work with bass?

  • was he on the clean channel the whole time?

  • I use this for my bass. Works really well for on-the-fly tone adjustments in acoustically problematic venues.

  • Love your video effects. They manage to be crazy and inventive, without actually getting in the way of the video content. Fun.

  • can someone tell me how i should have the knobs on my amp when i have this pedal on?

  • @WTFROFLMOA555 It depends on where you have the pedal and what kind of sound you want. Just mess around until you find something you like. If you mean your using it in the FX loop as your EQ instead of the amp, set the knobs to no bass, full mids, no treble. That is the signal unaffected by the amp, mostly.

  • metal is so gay. Its so wanna be cool.

  • @Ironsixx That's straight ignorant. It's just a different sound.

  • @thacrack3r come on you gotta admit that it is. The whole screaming and growling vocals you know it is.

  • @Ironsixx No. What about folk with their soft vocals? You could say they're all wusses. People just dig the intensity of the sound. Those who don't like intensity wouldn't like it. Like I said, I really think it's just a different sound (or style of expression).

  • @Ironsixx Music is way to express yourself. I don't know if true music lovers or musicians would make such statements. I love music.

  • i play thrash metal and i want to buy this pedal to get a more scooped sound, does this version has any difference than the kerry king version??because this one is cheaper....does the kerry king model work better for thrash kind of sound(just because it is kerry king's model) or there is no real difference???

  • @Podarias the biggest difference is that the KK version can be used in stereo. other than that, i never noticed much difference

  • does it have a true bypass?

  • @screw66 Im pretty sure.. Ive noticed alot of MXR pedals have that Button, which i believe is a 3PDT switch. Which means it Should be true Bypass.

  • @jaki54321 thanks

  • @screw66 yup yup =D

  • i like the way he headbangs using his beard

  • Just ordered an MXR 31-band EQ. Hope it sounds as good as this 10-band when I hook it up!

  • this guy can bang his heart!

  • I Paid the few bucks more & got the Kerry King model. It has 2 outputs.

  • nice beard!

  • 2:20 ... epic...

  • You can use it without the 18 volt adaptor?

  • Is this noisy?

  • what do you do with your amp's EQ when using an EQ pedal? all at 0?

  • @ilikecheese1011 You can keep your amps EQ alone & play with the MXR EQ. Always put it in your effects loop for the best effect. Hope this helps

  • that second clean tone sounds exactly like metallica's cleanss

  • i got this pedal today and i plugged it to my Marshall MGHDFX100 and the sound went from a Marshall MG to a Marshall JMP! my amp sounds waaaaaaaaaay better now. Classic Tone i give this pedal 9/10

  • There's no reson for the Kerry fucking king one.

  • wow congatulations on having a decent demo i dint really like the metal tone but atleat scooped mids and cut mids werent your only two settings haha

  • thin sounding sc???

  • For anyone who really wants to hear how this sounds, I honestly suggest going out and trying to find the pedal itself at your local music shop and sitting down with it for at least 10 minutes. I have one in my Triple XXX's FX loop and it does make a difference. You just need to have patience with any pedal and remember, any pedal will change your sound depending where it sits. It's true.

  • yeah dude nice demos....

  • The demonstrations are identical with the KFK version! What da fuck

  • get a line 6 pod 2.0 or XT its the best bet for good tone, that wont break the bank for any amp

  • @CemetaryGatesML But if you need to control it during a gig you need to buy an FBV Footpedal, and those things range from 150 to 300 bucks. Better off buying a POD 3 LIVE.

  • where in the pedal chain do you put the eq pedal?

  • it depends, if you want to change the sound of the Guitar, you put it right after the guitar (that is what he does here), now, if as an example your distortion is too bright, you put it after the distortion and modify the Distorted sound... and so on...

  • Funny how this is the best demo I've seen all night and yet when you watch the 6 band it sounds like crap. I guess that's marketing. Getting you to buy the bigger one. Enjoyed it all anyways

  • @hypnoxic why would anyone who wants an effective EQ buy a six band anyway?

  • Can someone please tell me what an EQ pedal does i have been wondering for the longest time.

  • It would have been a lot better to show the distortion at the end with single coils. I guess the girth was B.S?

  • You can tell this guy's reading off of cue cards.

  • either that or a teleprompter.

  • @mw0305 "if i put glasses on they won't be able to see that I'm reading lines off of a card"

  • @mw0305 Thats why he got the sunglasses XD

  • eq pedals rule. If you want versatility in ur tone buy

  • i'm always slightly confused with eq pedals, would this pedal be worth using with my Engl invader stack... or should i just use the amps eq ?

  • It just gives you a little more control. I first found this when I was using primarily an RG with EMGs, because they were hella muddy, and I wanted something to brighten it. It depends on what you want.

  • @dimebagalways

That's up to you. If you absolutely love your tone, don't get it. If you want to enhance or add to it, get it. EQ pedals are awesome.

  • @asda6572 and @emeraldstudio,

    no. no. no. no.

the distortion you hear is coming from his amp/pedals. the gain slider acts like post gain on a rack mixer for a studio or live rig.

Now, it will help an overdriven/distorted signal get more dirty but it will, in no way, get anywhere near OD or dist. ranges.

This is not an "all in one pedal." This is ten bands of EQ and nothing else.

  • what does this have that the 6 band eq doesn't have?

  • So this is basically a boost, overdrive and distortion pedal all in one? Looks cool, but i don't understand all of the frequency stuff. i'll probably try it out soon.

  • @asda6572 il try to explain it to. This may sound gay, but think of your sound as a rainbow, made up of separate colors. And the colors represent the different frequencies. An equalizer lets you boost or cut certain frequencies to "shape" your sound. Many equalizers also have a level slider to use as a booster as well as an equalizer

  • hahah very nicely put ;P

  • @mikejoanderson thanks man, and ya btw that did sound gay lol but still man thanks from now on i will always think of it like that very creative! lol

  • I blew a nut wehen i heard the distortion!

  • forgive a probably silly question..but if you have a pedalboard warwick with 5 9v alimentation and one 12v would this pedal work?

  • No, unless you get a plug to combine two 9v outputs into one 18v.

  • no you need an 18v

  • I have one of this sitting after the Tubeking, and i love it. Never turn it off even when i need the clean tone, it made my sound alot better.

  • your amps best friend :)

  • is this good for solo?

  • Is this good for using for my ENGL Blackmore tube amp? No distortion pedals just this and amp distortion? :D

  • does this act as a distortion pedal if the sliders are set right or to u have to run it over amp distortion?

  • It can. I've got this on my board, and it's sick what I can do with it by just messing around with it.

  • this is typically put in the effects loop of an amplifer. you need distortion on your amp for distortion, this is just an eq. it takes the signal from your preamp (amp eq, distortion etc) and changes it before sending it to the speaker.

  • is there an actual audible differece b2een this eq and the Kerry king one. like is the kerry King one heavier sounding or something?

  • So what do all those bands mean? What are the controls for mid? :P I am noob at this pedal!

  • lol. the stuff near the left is the bass. the stuff closer to the middle is the mids. To the right is obviously treble

  • im gonna use this so much.....that's what she said

  • 2:20 jizzz

  • what would the best eq pedal be if I want to completely take out the high frequencies past like 6-7khz?

  • well, i do'nt know the model name, but behringer has a rack eq for like 100 bucks that has i think 31 bands, no joke. that should take care of it. why would you need to take out that uch high end?

  • You'd need to get a high-pass filter. Not necessarily the typical graphic eq slider type. It acts as a cut for frequencies past a certain point. EQ with sliders only boost or cut the frequencies alotted on the pedal/rack.

  • I know. Actually a low-pass filter, but I have no idea where to find one. Plus an EQ could help with other things eg. take out boominess

  • Yes 15 and 31 Band EQ's offer more versatility but the MXR 10 Band EQ takes the 10 most crucial frequencies to guitar so the entire 31 Band EQ isn't exactly all the necessary to the average guitarist.

  • Because all of that high end sounds really fizzy. It's pretty much noise.

  • I have the six band it works great with my all valve Marshall. Don't expect this to make a crapy amp sound good. It will make a good amp sound better.

BTW: This guy sucks. When he TRYS to play fast the clarity and dynamics of the notes all all over the place. Slop.

  • which " all valve marshall" you got?

  • which is better this one or the MXR 6 band

  • I would say this one because 10 is more than 6, and the more bands you have available to mess with, the more versatility and control you have over your tone.

  • Does anyone know if this can be used on a bass?

  • yes it can be used on bass

  • my EQ is better it's a Dual 15-band EQ from Radioshack and it's only $74.95!

  • wow 15 band? I thought 10 was the maximum...

  • nope actually 31-band is the most pretty crazy huh.

  • Actually you can go stereo at 15 to each channel (maybe even more) and really create that custom tone you are looking for.

  • its the same thing as the kerry king model just one single output

  • this is hilarious to watch

  • Boss EQ-20 FTW xD

  • i was gonn buy it, but i saw the 18 volt thing. nice beard tho.

  • i think mine came with the adapter...either way it works in a dc brick or something like that.

  • hey do u know if the 10 band eq

  • Fucking 18v adaptor ,where to buy it in Europe?

  • πες τα ρε φιλε!...: Exactly!

  • but i think the pedal comes with it.

  • just go to a guitar store they should carry it

  • @alenv3 it think they sell it together with the adaptor , if not you can make it yourself

  • @alenv3 thomann.de
