I have sponge rollers but I really want to get a set of hot rollers! I'm not sure which kind to get...I have thick but Fine short hair!...any suggestions?
@catmamaril In my experience, most of them are the same. The just need to get *hot* (enough to burn your ears). And I don't like te ones flocked in velvet...
Check out the art of the famous pin up artists (classic) on the Pin Up Files website. The styles on the girls are all different lengths and usually pretty simple to achieve. Find one that features your length and I'll try and tell you how to achieve it. :)
I am a guy, but I love this video & I love this hair style on you because it is just timeless & I always thought that the females of yesterday was so sexy & with this hair style you remind me of that classy timeless hair style & you look good wearing it. Go Girlie!
I have a question-when you use heated rollers do you only use heat spray or setting lotion as well? I find when i use only heat spray the curls don't stay put, and when I use setting lotion as well they never dry in time! I have similar hair texture to your good self
I use the heat tamer spray only. Then hairspray over the whole set. Then when the rollers are COMPLETELY cool, I release them, brush it out, style, and spray again. It usually lasts a long time but it really depends on the weather, w/ me.
I love the hairstyles! But I wish you could put the camera up closer than looking up at you. It just makes it easier to get an idea of what you are doing. Maybe it's just me.
You have to understand that I'm not a professional videographer. I have an integrated laptop webcam and a standard height vanity. I tried to do these videos seated so I was level w/ the camera but I got more complaints about the lighting than ever...so I have to work w/ what I have. Maybe someday I'll release a dvd and have professional quality lighting, but until then-this'll have to do.
Actually, I love the angle you have the camera at - I can always see exactly what you're doing. Your videos are soooo awesome.
I did this style using your method but without bangs last week and I loved it so much that I got bangs today. I'm excited to try it tomorrow with bangs.
im so glad you did this look! i have this vargus girl poster and i've wanted to do this look because the red bathing suit reminds me of the memphis belle(where im from) and the magnolia remind be of mississippi(where i go to school).
very cute....was just wondering i am flirting with the idea to get bang. right now they are the length of my hair....did u cut those straight across or do u have a bit of an angle.....and sorry one more thing.....how did u describe them to ur hairdresser..is there a specific name?...ty in advance!
Thanks! I actually don't trust most stylists to do a 'bettie bang'. For one thing, they don't understand them (because they rarely do them around here) and they also don't understand MY hair. I have a cowlick on one side that means I have to really tame my bangs into submission. So I cut them myself. It is scary to think about at first. But I did a video on it that may help. Also, Aya of Strawberrykoivintage did one that is really helpful. And she started w/ no bangs. :)
yes, i see....i would be to freaked out that im gonna mess up if i cut my own bangs lol and i know what u mean about the stylist not knowing what betty bangs r...not to many pay attention to their looks where i migrated to..haha thanks a lot for the quick response.
Oh, and the bangs are not straight across though they look like it at first glance. They're in a curved shape...longest at the center of the forehead and shorter on the sides.
For regular hot rollers, I would recommend the Babyliss Pro Ionic 30 roller set. I recently purchased Caruso steam rollers and have had good luck with them and I have thick, coarse hair.
Any brand is fine, even the cheap ones, as long as they get HOT. These that I use are Clairol ones that were about 25.00 but they get really hot and that is the secret.
Well done, Ashley. Yes, the lighting was better in your room, I could see your hair much lighter and more detail, but the angle of the camera and the framing of the image are better in your usual room. Put both together and you are done!
OH WOW! 0:46 was YOU?! I saw that picture on the facebook group page " Vintage Glamour" like 2 years ago and thought ' wow. she's so incredibly gorgeous.... thats so surreal.'
very cute!!! and your right! i totally fall back on this style when im in a rush. i just wish all my hair fit in hot rollers! i have so much, and its so long.
but anyhoo, i have to agree. your room was better. and it seems like your less cramped too! haha! i think maybe it because the paint is a lighter green.
wayyy better lighting hun :) and I love this look I cant wait till my hair is longer so I can do this.....just wondering do you have any friends with short bob cuts that you could do a vintage tut on them for us short haired gals :)
The lighting in your room is much better, I agree :)
This is very similiar to my daily 'do. When I set it on damp hair with spongies, I can usually even wear it with tight curls on day 1 and just a bit looser waves (like with the hot rollers) on day 2.. just a bit of brushing and spray required!
Gorgeous look on you. I've always loved this print and I'm counting every minute until my hair is long enough to pull off this look. Thanks for making & sharing with us.
Stay in your room, the lighting is fantastic! You can clearly see the curls compared to the dark athmosphere of your bathroom, haha.
Again, this is one of my favourite daytime hairdos - and I wear the flowers in work (one side only for me though, otherwise my face looks HUGE ;) ). I don't ever want to work in an office that doesn't appreciate a fine flower clip :D
I so glad to see you do more styles with bangs as I am a bettie banger as well and its great to see the styles with bettie bangs, perfection as always!!!
love your look. Do you make your own clothes?
