  • I think this is a true Hymn of the Friendship, it must be gift for the soul to share with friends no matter where they are. Thank-you very much for posting this pretty video-clip. From Argentina with Love...and Friendliness!

  • I just heard this song on ''Télématin'' this morning. What a wonderful discovery -- and what a beautiful song.

  • very beautiful in English. I wish that the French lyrics existed on her French version so I could follow it more easily.

  • Thank you so much for for the lyrics!

  • Très belle version de "l'amitié" en langue anglaise. Merci pour le partage.

  • I am learning French just because of Ms. Hardy.

  • Bonne idée ,d'ailleurs moi j'essaie d'apprendre l'anglais pour Ms Emma Peel .

  • wonderful lyrics but sad, very true birds will always fly away, and what is left are the memories, Miss Hardy expressed it so well !

  • wonderful

  • Big surprise also for me!

  • Pretty strong translation from the french. beautiful

  • Amaaaaaaaazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Oh, my God!!!!!

How come it took me over fourty years to hear that song .... in french!!! .... and know I find this English version? Oh, Lord, please involve this fellow who posted it here with all hapinness in the Universe. He deserves....

  • You Gilian, goddess of discs, thanks for this gorgeous english version of that incredible song of my Francoise...!! (and the lovely images...)

  • Man I love this one. Agreed with academical that her accent when singing in English is very charming. The simplicity of the music, compelling photos, loveliness of her voice, and back-to-basics subject of her song all make this a treat for the soul.

  • Re the lyric, I think the last word of the second line should be "sun", not "snow". Francoise's (super-sexy) English diction is a little unclear, but in the original French the word "soleil" (sun) appears in the first verse, "neige" (snow) doesn't.

Wonderful song, anyway. I'm sure it was on a sixties vinyl version of 'Francoise Hardy - in English'.

  • Thanks, I just copied the lyrics off a website. If you listen, you can indeed hear the word SUN.

The song is on the vinyl you mentioned and on a couple of others.

  • @academical

You are absolutely correct. I just listened to this song in French and I generally need the words in front of me to understand, but I clearly heard "la neige".

  • @124bjw Err... thanks? (I think). I've just listened to the French version myself, and the word "soleil" is clear, but I don't hear "neige". The first two lines are: Beaucoup de mes amis sont venus des nuages

Avec soleil et pluie comme simples bagages

  • Lovely song in French too

  • I want a poster of the picture at 1:50

  • I LOVE THIS SONG IN ENGLISH!!!

  • Yes, me too :) I think this one translates best into English. I am surprised it was never released on one of her compilation CD's

  • Wonderful, thanks!

  • You are welcome. I hope no one is getting tired of my cheezy slide shows yet. :)

  • I think they're great. All I have are some slightly tatty plastic CD covers, and some stuff from Google images, and one or two video stills. You have a fine collection of vinyl records, hence the fine large cover images.

  • Oh, Amanzi1, this is very remarkable video and this is such beautiful song presented in English version. Thanks !!! I enjoyed it so very much!

  • You are welcome. I hope you enjoy it. I think this one is my favourite.

  • Do you have "Des bottes rouges de Russie" (1969) , a very rare item on CD ?...

  • Yes indeed I have. I have it on a 45. It is on the EP with "Il Voyage, l'heure Bleue and Au fil des nuits et des journees"

  • I have just uploaded it. Hope you enjoy

  • @Amanzi1 Can you download the b-side of this single please? i think it was called "However Much"

  • I can't stop playing this one either LOL

  • Oh, I love this!
