She was responding to the recent comments from Barack Hussein Obama at the Saddleback forum.
San Fran Nan's answer reflects her support for Obama and the lefts agenda. Stating that the Church has been in controversy over this is flat out wrong and a malicious lie on her part.
The left doesn't care about when life begins. Nor for the life of the child still in the womb. They only care about power.
I saw a great program on EWTN last night (didn't catch the title). A lawyer giving a talk on the flaws in scientists debate over Darwin and natural selection.
He made the point about how the proponents are so invested in this theory that they make the data fit the theory, and lose their scientific objectivity in the process.
I think you can persuade SOME through rational argument, but for the rest - you will never be able to logically convince them. It will take a conversion
I would only point out that the difference between evolution and the abortion debate is that in the abortion debate, it's pro-abortion-choice advocates that are losing their scientific objectivity in the debate. That tells me we can do better with rational argument on abortion than evolution.
I would agree though that there are some that would need to be converted before they changed their views on abortion.
Thanks for the comment, Bishop Sheen. I would of course agree wtih your that the question of Who creates life is hugely important to the abortion debate. However, I think pro-lifers can make a convincing argument against abortion to an atheist by arguing that abortion kills a living human being, which many atheists would agree is wrong even if they don't think God created the life. Any thoughts?
Well yeah, some atheists might believe that abortion is wrong if they come to the conclusion that life begins at conception. However, the reason that they would say that murder is wrong would be because they are compromising their atheism in order to recognize the law of a God that they don't even believe exists
