Men to all of you that make stupid comments or dislike this video, this man is not performing in a concert first of all so he does not need to play perfect, second listen to his explanation of the chaconne maybe you will add a little more information in your small brains and third he has nothing to prove to anyone if you achive half of what he did in his life consider yourselves lucky.
That is very nice lecture. it is very important to understand the music theoretically to play better .Some people just "play" it , and doesn't make any sense. Some people even doesn't understand Bach is polyphony, melodies hide everywhere. His performance still shows what that music means.
The greatest mentor I could have ever wished for! Studied with him for four years, and his depth of knowledge regarding not only Bach, but every other composer (including of pieces outside the violin's repetoire) is unsurpassed by no other! Bravo!
his talks and theories r very interesting to listen to......but when it comes to playing...i dont know...it sounds horrible.....i mean...come on....practically...its so out of tune.....and very poor quality of sound.... its funny because he speaks about perfection...i guess it is propably because of his age....
@violinjacker 'Are you kidding me' were the first words out of my mouth I've watched all of the videos by this man. Nice speech given, but this guy cannot play the violin to save his life. His positioning is horrible, his sound is nasal because of all the pressing, and his intonation is wreckage. If someone were to audition at Juilliard now and play at this level would he get in? What I find amusing is this man teaches there!
@violinjacker i would LOVE to see you do better. to get to the point were one could play at even this level would take a beginner 5+ years of practicing 3-5 hours a day. the chaconne is no small feat of technical ability. but you can tell the feeling is there.
