People talk about the Quran and how it preaches to kill non-believers, well, the Bible preaches the same damn thing. I agree that there are bad people between Muslims, BUT it goes for ANY KIND OF RELIGION. I would have never known about this movie but for NPR bringing it to my attention through an interview with its Director. This is a beautiful and moving little independent film about one young man's journey to make peace with his Islamic upbringing and his family's turmoil as the 9/11 attacks make things even more difficult. I have seen it and it moved me to tears with its message of love and forgiveness. Hollywood had nothing to do with this movie getting made, and it is the desire of ordinary people to see it that is bringing it to theaters.
I'll say this about those who made this; they sure know how to propagate fears and prejudices against non-Muslims. While so called "hate-crimes" against innocent Muslims have occurred, they are not on nearly the same magnitude as those against Jews (often by Muslims). funny things i remember going to a private school post 9/11which i was the only muslim. i was in grade 8 and some grade 6s were bothering my sister and calling my dad osama. they even stole my lunch and when i said my views in history they called me a terrorist. the directer obvioulsy knows muslims since she is 89. without her i would have been dead since i beated up the kids bothering my sister since he threw a punch at me. since before i been training in muay tauy,bjj and mma.

I would have never known about this movie but for NPR bringing it to my attention through an interview with its Director. Again, Hollywood has demonstrated how little they know about marketing to the African-American and Muslim community as I (a 50-year old) along with countless of others would have seen this on opening weekend. This is a beautiful and moving little independent film about one young man's journey to make peace with his Islamic upbringing and his family's turmoil as the 9/11 attacks make things even more difficult. I have seen it and it moved me to tears with its message of love and forgiveness. Hollywood had nothing to do with this movie getting made, and it is the desire of ordinary people to see it that is bringing it to theaters.

In any case, I’m sure they’ll portray muslims like the moderates that they are. Just like in Egypt, where more that 80% of muslims believe in stoning for adultery, and death penalty for apostasy, according to a pew research in 2010.

@BadBitchJordynn in the movie, during the welcome dinner the muslim student association puts on they show all types of muslims, but this movie is pretty much based off the life of the director but just exaggerated (the director said it in a interview it was pretty much an autobiography), no 1 is excluding white muslims. :-)

I just watched this movie tonight in Phoenix Arizona and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! I will definitely go see it again and I pray it comes out on DVD as well. I am a big Independent film movie buff and I thought this one deserves to be in the spotlight.

If this movie would had came out 7 years ago I probably would get the point. As far as I know there hasnt been anybody attacked because of being muslim in years in America. I know in Philadelphia there are many Muslims and they are well respected.

I just saw this last night in Houston..Amazing movie! Ive been telling all my friends to see it. One closed-minded friend unfortunately said.."but im not Musilm?" so let me say this to everyone..You Don't Have To Be Muslim To Enjoy This Film! I am not Muslim but the lesson of equality and being true to yourself is a lesson for everyone!

This movie seems great! very informative. As a Muslim American we have a great deal of struggles to face. I think this movie will give insight to people who don't know or understand our faith. Btw Nia Long look very pretty in that hijab.
