And he never lost the enjoyment of the game. While he may have been dissatisfied with the front office or the management, he never stopped loving the game. There were always moments when you could see in Manny the same kid that hauled tires up hills in Washington Heights, building his core strength so he could drive the ball 420ft. to the opposite field.
True, he has not always played the game the right way, and it can be argued that his attitude was sometimes less than helpful to the team chemistry, but through all the drama he never lost that swing. It remained a thing of grace of beauty to be admired and copied by a generation of young fans.
When a history of near misses and complete failures weighed so heavy on us that we thought we were destined for a lifetime of misery. When the Yankees were an unstoppable force that could not be reckoned with. In the face of all these things, we had Manny. Suddenly, nothing was impossible. We had Manny. There was possibility! Because we had Manny, there was always a chance.
He came to us at the last second, when we had missed out on Mussina and needed to make a splash. The kid from Cleveland with the picture perfect swing, who smiled like a Little Leaguer when he played. That was our Manny. We embraced him, we cheered for him, we placed our hopes for the future in his able hands. And he delivered for us, time and time again. In the wake of all that has happened, let us not forget that Manny gave us hope when there little to be had.
Given the recent trend of success that we in Red Sox Nation have been blessed with, I hope we do not all forget the journey we have taken to get here, and specifically, the role of Manny Ramirez in that journey.
OK OK I do love Fitzy but please go search the Central Maine Sports Blog on google and visit out site...Please Fitzy, come on our show...beggin ya actually!
I think it'll work out for the better, I mean we actually have a guy (Bay) that will *gasp* run to first base and actually have a player that can play left field. Bay can hit too. Honestly Manny's Bitch Assness got old two years ago and Im glad we don't have to put up with his bullshit anymore. Even last year his "who cares if we lose in the playoffs" attitude pissed me off. So he can play for that booger eating Torre and take a fat dodger dog up the ass for all I care b/c his ego is toxic.
I love how all Red Sox fans say the Yankees suck... Well you tell me if the Yankees suck why do they have 26 World Seires titles to the Sox seven or so... Yankees may bei nthird bur look who's in first Tampa Bay so the Sox dont have to much to be bragging about... FUCK THE SOX and all there FANS Yankees For life.
All the people saying "Manny Who?" are lousy post-2004 bandwagon fans. Yeah, Jason Bay is terrific so far but have a little decency when you talk about Manny Ramirez. Team loyalty goes both ways. Manny Who? Manny the MVP of the 2004 World Series without whom we'd be going on year 90 without a championship. That's who. Best of luck in LA Manny.
its gonna be weird at first but it had to be done, we all just have to move on, win, and hopefully kick his ass in the the World Series, break out the brooms
"For Pete's sake." was a way your average ordinary people in the middle ages could swear without "technically" taking the Lord's name in vain, which if they did they would suffer the wrath of the church, which was a big deal in those days. Why I know that, I have no fucking clue.
fuck manny. I will never forgive him for what he did for the last couple months. he's a bad team mate, he pushed that secretary, he punched youkilis in the face, then he taunted the red sox front office on espn deportes, he faked a injury to make his point that he wanted an extension, he was bringing the whole club house down. fuck him with don't his fucking antics. we'll be just fine with jason bay
No one was happy with what Manny did recently, but this is not how we should remember him. He should be remembered as the clutch power hitter who led our team to the world series twice and always had a smile on his face no matter what happened. sure the trade was very neccesary, and Jason Bay is going to be an awesome addition to the new sox, don't go around saying "fuck manny", he did all those things because he was unhappy with the team for some reason, not because he was a bad person.
Count me in as someone who agrees with everyone you just said, Fitzy. Manny was just too much, now lets hope the sox can get back to playing baseball.
i finally got to go to fenway to see the sox all the way from cali and ended up seeing a bunch a little leaguers that cant catch a ground ball im happy jason bay is on our team i will be buying his sox jersey
hey fitzy-great vid as usual- savage "as-an-adult" ugly-that's how it would have been if we kept manny being manny. we'll all miss something about him. another title will help us forget! go sox!
But he DID help bring two rings to Boston, something that Ted Williams never did.
And Jason Bay was the second best player on the Pirates, which means that he'll be good in Boston, but he will not replace the jaw-dropping power that Manny has.
The Dodgers will win the NL West now. Manny and Nomar REUNITE!
hahah the skanks
