  • Very nice bud. I have an 83 shoved inside an 84 frame cause my dad cut the old one in half to make a mud dragster. The swingarm bolt in mine was welded in as well. I had to cut it but got lucky cause i had a spare swingarm in the barn. I looked online and found that the cheapest swingarm bolt was going for about 120 bucks! Hope i don't have to do that again.

  • like vettefret, i'm wondering why the frame wasn't stripped of its old paint and powder coated or something ?????

  • @ketkiddy because I'm a lazy, cheap, sonnofabitch ;) in all honesty, I did not want to wait for the frame to be powdercoated, I just wanted to ride the thing. It takes me 1 hour to strip the bike, once the existing paint shows signs of deterioration I will strip it again and powerdercoat it - until then, I'm gonna continue to ride it ;)

  • @xhumeka ahhhh, ok, i used to stay on my cousins farm and he had an 80cc trike but the kid on the farm next door was older than us and he had one of these, i had a go on the back once at night in the snow, i was about 9 years old, i've never been so scared in my life !!! hahahaha would love a go of one now :o)

  • Why wouldn't you clean and or paint the frame while disassembled?

  • no rear brake?

  • i had the same problem with my 86 200x and i had to replace every thing in the swing arm

  • I used to have a 84 what a ride at that time I had a 200x also then a few years later came the 350 all sweet machines ! thats a classic there wish I could turn back time

  • @1974nyarlathotep right on mate! glad to hear from another trike lover!

  • @xhumeka Did u do any videos of u rebuilding the 250r

  • Has this trike been flipped at all?

  • @sfproductions97 Not since I've owned it!

  • thanks for the suggestion! I have never heard of aerokroil before but I'll try to find some... thanks again!

  • im in ontario aswell and have a 82 air cooled 250r trike aswell as a 250x.. they both work awesome but if you are near to say.. kingston area and ever want to sell that bike.. please msg me

  • don't think I'll be selling it any time soon, but if you should join us for some trike rides in the Ganaraska forest this year! We had a trike gathering there last year, and had more than 15 trikes show up!

  • I love my '84. 250R LONG LIVE ATC!!!

  • Why didn't you do the frame while you had it striped?

  • I really should have, but I was just too eager to get riding... I'll tear it all down next winter to re-lube everything and I'll get it powdercoated then.

  • Hey very nice trike! I am currently on the search for a 250r. I have a 1982 Honda Bigred 200 and a 1982 Yamaha Tri Moto 175. Several vids on the bigred and 1 on the tri moto

  • Sweet trike! I've got a 84 250r myself. Total tear down had the frame, tank, and all other things that could be sent out for powder coating sent out and done. Rebuilt the engine, all new plastic, controls, cables etc.! It's a lot of work and money to restore one but the first time i fired it up and took off on it it was all worth it! Ride like hell and have a blast man!

  • thanks! it sounds like you have one MINT trike!! let's see some vids of it!

  • nice bike i have 200m 1984 wheere did you get the plate for yours? and how much do you pay for it?

  • when i bought it the guy didn't have ownership, so i just had him sign a bill of sale for it. i took that to the ministry and they ran a check on it, and it had never been registered. so i filled out some paper work and had the green plate issued to me for $35. In Ontario Canada, green plates are good for the life of the vehicle, and do not need to be renewed yearly.

  • @xhumeka in alberta canada its 42$ just for your plate, and 106$ for me just liability a year to have it insured /registered haha

  • I purchased one of these brand new back in the 80's. It was the last year of the 3 wheeled version. I think it was an 86 or 87. Those are insanly fast. I use to blow evryone away in my town when i had it. I was the first to have a 2 stroke racer. I also had a Kawasaki KX too. Both were very quick and fast!

  • nice! do you still have a trike? if so, let's see some vids!!

  • No wheeled vehicles for me at the moment.. I am going to get something tho someday. I currently have an Arctic Cat ZR 900 snowmobile. This machine is the altimate speed demon!

  • do you know where i can get an engine - mine is shot

  • probably eBay is your best bet... craigslist/kijiji are also good sources.

  • good man!! be sure to take some videos of it when you get it!

  • nice bike.. and kijiji has the be the best site on the internet!

  • thanks mate! Although no ATC ever came with a twist throttle, there are many aftermarket kits available to convert the thumb throttle to a twist throttle.

  • Wrong, you could buy the tecate with twist throttle

  • oh really?? wow... never knew that. mmmmm Tecate... DROOL!!!! Never ridden one of those, but boy would I love to!

  • hay dude is the 250cc realy powerful man

  • yes, they are very powerful... very fun too! :)

  • i got a 200x

  • those are very nice trikes!

  • how much u purchase that for

  • I paid $1100 for the "before" trike (Canadian) then paid about $800 for all the extra parts (I have a LOT left over).

  • i got a 1985 honda 250es big red atc and the foot peg bolts snaped while ridding,it suxs..it fixed

  • yes, it sure does!! How did you fix it? Drill out the bolt and re-tap the hole?

  • well im not good at that so i had to take it to the shop this time, i think they re-tap

  • hey what ratio do u mix ur gas

  • I use Amsoil Intercepter at a ratio of 32:1

  • how does the 84 compare to the 85/86 as far as power and handeling go

  • It doesn't have as much power (I think water cooling added about 20 percent hp to it!) but the handling is pretty much identical.

  • lol yea but in the video you said u were about to start the restoration did you rebuild the engine cause it seems to run perty good

did u get the coolant leak fixed on your 125

  • No, I haven't had to rebuild the engine yet (knock on wood!) - I hope it holds out for a few more years...

And YES, I finally got the coolant leak fixed on my cr125.. woohooo!! I had it out this past weekend for a test ride and thankfully NO LEAKS!!! I had to take it slow because it was raining so as I was riding I wasn't sure if it was leaking or not, but after checking my rad after 30 mins of riding it was still full. I'll post a video of it when I get a chance...

  • thats kool i rode a honda 80 3wheeler when i was ten but havnt ridden a 3 wheeler since then last time i rode it i ran myself over and tore half the skin off the bak of my leg

  • great video and trike but i dont get how this was a restoration without sanding or painting or cleaning old grime off frame and engine you bought a few new parts but other than that you basically just swapped everything over

  • that's why I called it a "rebuild" and not a "restoration" ;)

  • Great Video, I have a Suzuki lt250r quad racer that I plan on doing some work to over this coming winter, and I pan to make a before and after.

  • right on! be sure to post it to youtube - I want to see your project!

  • I will, I'll keep you updated.

  • hahah, thanks man. You have great videos as well, which is why I subscribed to your channel!

  • great! i just finished restoring a warrior. it was a lot of fun and now it rocks!

  • nice! let's see a video!

  • dont have a camera :c

  • awesome. im in brampton.

  • hey man where do you live? just curious im in ontario canada. i am worried on how hard its going to be to get my 185s plated.

  • I"m in Ontario too (Toronto). The seller didn't even have ownership papers when I bought it, and I still got plates without too much difficulty...

  • dude good work but why in the world did you not repaint the frame since you went that far with the rebuild??????????

  • yah, i probably should have - but the only worth-while way to paint a frame is to powdercoat it, and I wasn't willing to spend the $150 to paint it. It's not a showroom machine that's kept clean - I ride it hard and as long as it's in good mechanical shape that's all I care about. Maybe in a few years i'll powdercoat it, but for now the existing paint is in good enough shape to keep the rust away...

  • man 250rs' are hard to find i really want a 85.they are so freakin cool!

  • Nice trike bro.How u get it plated?

  • Getting it plated wasn't too hard - you just need to transfer the ownership to your name and you get the plates at the same time. If you didn't get ownership from previous seller, it's still possible by filling out an affidavit (MTO has the info you need to include in your affidavit - pretty much just need to say you are legal owner but did not receive paperwork from previous seller). Insurance was a bit tricker to get, but i finally got it through TD Home and Auto for $175 per year.

  • nice trike i got them same kind ,,, looks like ur missin the seat latch bracket to hold it tight against the seat....

  • Thanks man... I was lucky and got a pretty good deal on it, and that's in Canada where they are usually more expensive than in the States. If you sell your yz80, you can always buy a fix-er-up 250r ;)

Looking forward to your video on "why not to use k&n air filters" instead of an airbox!
