This reminds me of the episode of mythbusters when they proved that a LEAD balloon could fly, THIS balloon was made from Mylar, not lead and had 100 pounds of lift, the boy weighed 60 pounds. i just sent in a request on the mythbusters site to see if they would do an episode on this and take the exact same balloon with the same size and dimensions and see if it would lift a child, they could use Buster to simulate a 60 pound child.

This kid weighs around 30 - 40 pounds, you would need at least 3 times the volume to lift that much weight.

I've built a lot of balloons to lift camera's and gliders, I can tell you that a balloon of this volume has around 15 - 25 pounds lift.
