I remember the 70's and 80's when blue, yellow, and white Alco locomotives were common motive power. Too young to recall the orange and grey, but the new stuff is sleek and silver but less charming.
I loved train watching at Mineola in the mid 1960s in my teens, on rare visits from quieter Stony Brook in Suffolk County. The trains now I don't find particularly interesting. The old orange and grey diesels from eastern Long Island roaring past were more thrilling. The trains are too sleek, silver, and modern now. If I sound like I'm 85, so be it! (I'm 58.)
