5:34 Very sensible Jane, you must say no to temptation and... Aw who am I kidding, if it were me I would've ravaged him the moment his bed wasn't on fire anymore.
GAH. I know exactly how she feels when she goes back into her room after Rochester finally lets her go back to sleep. The acting in this version is so incredible...even if the screenplay takes major liberties in departing from the book.
I've seen a lot of versions, but these two by far have the most chemistry. The 2011 version comes second. I guess this is the best to me because it digs just a little deeper into the book.
If I had not read the book, I would of thought Mr. Rochester tried to kill himself on purpose. The way he looked like he was a pit of despair as the flames consumed what was around him... But I did read the book and therefore I can say the same, only it wasn't intentionally. Innocence saved him and by innocence I mean Jane;) Would you not agree?
If I had not read the book, I would of thought Mr. Rochester tried to kill himself on perhaps. The way he looked like he was a pit of despair as the flames consumed what was around him... But I did read the book and therefore I can say the same, only it wasn't intentionally. Innocence saved him and by innocence I mean Jane;) Would you not agree?
@chuckz92: but he is not shirtless in this version ;) only nearly shirtless :) which i for my part like very much. i think that men without shirts look more dignified than men without pants :D do you agree?
could it be... that when Mr. Rochester called Jane a witch.. he meant that she has already bewitched him?? In the book he said later that he knew that she was going to be good for him from the first time he met her. :D
According to Victorian standards, the scene in the novel is very daring. I think they made it just a little more intimate to make a similar effect with today's blunted audience :-)
Why should even a Victorian bachelor not sleep with his shirt open? He would hardly expect anyone to come in by night.
Apparently I'm the only one who finds Mr. Rochester creepy in this scene? Older guy comes home to find young, family-less, extremely innoscent governess caring for his child, gets her alone at night....
He did not entice her into his room on purpose. He does behave wrongly but creepy? Rather messed up. It is not an everyday event to nearly get assassinated by your wife ... I like to think it is the master-servant relation that makes it thus impossible for him to speak first. Jane has to be the first one to declare herself.
But yes, he does take advantage of her being socially unprotected, though not at this phase.
@AlinaTowers If you haven't read the book, then yes it may seem a little creepy...But I still find it so romantic...I mean after being pushed around and 'trampled on' since childhood, she finally finds a man, who may be older, but loves her wildly. But the chemistry between both of them is just so appealing. Watch the 1983 version. Juts as good. But it's almost word to word by the book;..
hahaha... i thought that too... his bed is covered in flames and all i take notice of is that he's almost topless and squint my eyes to take his body in better!! haha... aw well :)
i have read this book and i now that he didn't kiss her in this moment but i was a little nervous i was screaming KISS HER !! KISS HER !! i love toby's voice...shit that man is PRETTY...
...We agreed that you'd never be cold again( just kiss me, pleaseee kiss me) - Well Jane if you must leave me, you must ( Yes,yes go before I grab you and throw you on the bed and before the creator of this comment gets into the hospital due to a heart attack)
A girl's approach on Mr Rochester's thoughts... . - Jane ,you just saved my life (And for that I love you even more deeply and tenderly) - You mind if we shake hands?(That way I'll be able to touch your hand and keep you in my room as long as I want) -I knew you'd do me good, the first time I met you(I fell in love with you the first time I saw you)-I knew I wouldn't mind being in your dept( You make me feel emotions I've never experienced before...
Sorry, I just started watching this movie. I have not read the book either so I don't know any plot about the story line. I tried to scroll down reading all the comments to find at least someone mentioned about the fire, but to no success. So I'm a little confused, and I have a few questions, where did the fire come from? who set up the fire and why did they do it?
@Hawkeyes711 Oh, why must you punish me like this? But...I'm happy to admit that I have finished watching the video. I don't believe myself, I happen to keep following the series till the very end in 2 days. It bothers me not knowing...although it didn't really explain who is behind the fire but for me to "keep watching and find out" I am able to predict the person behind the fire. Thank you. It's very interesting to read other people's comments.
i love how he acts like her flaw length night gown is an anne summers suspender set or something LOL @5:46 damn i would have sooo made a move in my flaw length sexy night gown
I really really love and respect this adaptation, and I think it perfectly captures the spirit of the book, but the extremely immature part of me listens to the sounds they make from around 1.26- 1.49 and giggles.
@hmesser91 lmao! I was thinking just the same thing! xD I was thinking that if you just listen to the sound they are making it sounds like they are doing something completly different
"We agreed you'd never be cold again...so come a little closer, that's better....oh no, don't worry, I won't do a thing... I just wanna keep you warm...in fact I know a great way to stay warm, come and lie down on the bed...oh no, it's burnt...well, let's go to your bed and ehrrrr...I'll show you how we can keep warm!"
The actor who plays Jane looks better with her hair down, then in that odd way she puts her hair up. In my opinion... Also how does she deny Mr.Rochester!!! He is SOOOO HOT looking with his shirt open!!!!!
If you close your eyes during the whole putting out the fire -scene doesnt it sound a lot like they're having a very hot and passionate moment together?
I like this scene in the books better because he wakes up wet and asks if it's flooding XD
