@asdlgvfrbadkhjaseygf Wow, how mature. Actually, if you want a true review of why it is a bad game, it's simple. Character development was bad (not as bad as 12 though) and the storyline wasn't consistent within itself and for people like me who PAY ATTENTION it ruins the game. The reason why I liked the game was for the combat system and the fact the bosses never were 'too easy'.

@dragames sorry I'm just stressed with the rest of my midterms, but the character development was actually well done in this game, I feel each character played a key role and had key moments with each they had to face themselves, looking back at the past final fantasies which I enjoyed I did not see it the same way. They may have had a great story but some of the characters played little or no role to the story and you didn't care much for them. Example is kimarhi from ffx and zell from ffviii.

FFVI: Everyone apart from Terra.

FFVII: Yuffie, Vincent and Red XIII (although he's likeable).

FFVIII: Everybody except Squall and Rinoa, really.

FFIX: Quina, Amarant and Freya. But they were loveable and had a nice twist to their stories, which made them tie in well enough.

FFXII: Everyone except Basch and Ashe. (Vaan wasn't even supposed to be in the game. Basch was the initial protagonist, but he didn't "appeal to target demographics". Morons.)

@RebornAleph I agree with you for the most part but I thought in FFIX zidane and dagger had a lot of character development, steiner was good, I did not care much for freya and Vivi was not bad either

In FFVIII I actually liked squall and rinoa and zell from the cast the rest were meh

@asdlgvfrbadkhjaseygf Development? Zidane never changed from start of the game to end. Just one little lapse in character that was laughable. Dagger only went from 'stop hitting on me' to 'it's okay to hit on me'. Not really much transition.

@dragames Dagger actually had development, it showed how naiveness and dependence on others evolved from the moment her mother died to the part in disk 3 where she uses the dagger to cut her hair symbolizing a change in her attitude an character. Quina is just a funny character, also zidane was more of an interesting character something to break away from the cliche protagonists it was a nice change of pace.

@dragames LOL but he is more relateable, most guys think about girls all the time, when you put a character like that, it gives it that feeling of understanding and more love for the character. Although I do agree Zidane was more close minded making his resolve unclear, but those little imperfections add to his personality........don't worry im not trying to change your opinion its just how I feel about it.

@dragames I may agree that the game was not stellar. However, it was Sakaguchi's favorite, and he MADE the series! (it still is, consider he, and I quote: "Did not like Final Fantasy XIII - did not stand playing it anymore than he did).

In fact, I may agree that it wasn't the highlight of the series.

But "bad character development"? I'm sorry. Your expectations may be just soaring in the clouds, but I assure you, as someone who writes and reads a lot, that it is the very least of its problems.

@RebornAleph No, it's not the least of it's problems, but it is a problem. Zidane never really changes, even though he finds out he's not really human. Steiner just eventually stops being steiner and has no personality after. Quinna is always Quinna. Freya as well is thrusted into a typecast and told us her bg from the getgo. Nothing else happens with her. Amarant, same thing. Eiko has the same problem as steiner. Starts of Eiko, ends up slightly less of Eiko. No changes sans Vivi

This was part of a Japanese marketing campaign to tie FF9 with Coca-Cola. It was huge and all over te place there.
