  • was the quality less than 240p back then

  • How much work did you have to do to this old portable set?

  • ...nothing like OLED technology...I feel lucky for living in this technologic innovations era.

  • Just got this set on ebay looking foreward to restoring it soon 11/3/09

  • I think our first TV was one of these, although I remember the screen was on the right. Then we got a '52 12" Dumont with a greenish screen and bezel. A tube eater my father kept fixing for 6 years.

  • Great ! 5*

  • emerson's ar the #1 junk brand these days

  • Nice set, never worked on one, is it a 7" set?

    Bill

  • so what resolution was the black and white american tvs back in 1949?

  • 525 lines with 30 frames, interlaced. Videobandwith was appr. 4 MHz.

  • Cheeses! LOUD enough???

  • This brings back the old times. I love it. We were one of the first to get a B&W 12" tv. then Color came out. We had to wait for that. Too much money then. 900.00 I think.

  • It is a series set, no transformer.

  • I am just curious, but what do you mean?

  • The filaments of the tubes were connected in series and feed with the mains voltage. When using a transformer, the 6.3V output was applied to the filaments in parallel.

  • ahh yes, the ole emerson 610....nice little set..i wonder if it was a series set or transformer...

i'll have to get out my old sam's schematic to see..
