  • Nothing but mindless chatter

  • And the Civil War was the first war captured in photographs, as well as the first with daily status reports telegraphed from the front.

  • where is the initial loud attack cnn had live...?? sick..

  • my dad recorded this while I was deployed... this is part 3... sad how history changes instantly

  • "John, SHUT THE FUCK UP FOR A MOMENT!!!"

  • CNN; The Propaganda Network

  • Good thing that the United States manage to kick Saddam's ass out of Kuwait.

  • My best friend is John Holliman's adopted son. He's greatly missed. RIP.

  • did they ever leave the studio

  • I vividly remember this day.

  • When I was a kid, I was watching a cartoon show when it cut off mid show to broadcast this war. I was waiting when are they going to continue the program. But it never did. I was to young to understand what's happening.

  • RIP John Holliman!

  • RIP John Holliman

  • They were/ are there for the lithium the oil and the museum, which is THE cradle of civilization and to find the grave of Osiris so they could extract nephilim DNA so they cold breed new species like the nephilim did.

  • How did they report from Iraq when they said they had no electricity and all? Satellite phones (were they even around at the time)?

  • @Aoki512 BATTERY! Battery was hooked up to the four-wire once power was cut off to the hotel.

Rent "LIVE FROM BAGHDAD" the movie from HBO.

  • and they never left the studio

  • Like you said no where near today. Some of these news casters think they are truly celebrity and end up having shirts, books, movie rolls, tv appearances all in their honor.

I was watching tv to day and I flipped on to fox new HD by accident and you should have seen it. It was this small little box with an interview going on in the middle and the rest of the screen was surrounded with 3d pop ups, side story's, stock coverage, web sites, advertisements and so much more! It was like a zoo!

  • Back when news was straight news. I wasn't even born yet. News these days have the newscasters as celebrity. You don't watch the news for the events you tune in to see "Aww man whats he going to say about republicans now!". Debates are pointless, tons of pointless cgi candy pop ups all over the screen, silly touch panels and off topic news reports have caused the media to fall.

I think the media truly died with its false reports during WTO 1999 or perhaps the long dragged on coverage of 9/11.

  • reported

  • RIP John Holliman

  • Bernie is still somewhere in Baghdad hiding under the bed. Peter Arnett is simply the best!

  • Baghdad International Airshow.

  • @GAdawgsfan93 - Yeah, I've heard that Fox are considering making it a pay-per-view event. It depends on the outcome of the present market research. The commercials during the attack would probably go for about $1.5 million for 30 seconds. Get the popcorn ready, stock the fridge with beer ... let the show begin!!

  • I got a free pizza when i got back to FT. BENNING. yeaa! But they didnt tell me i had cancer YEAAA.

  • The French were preparing to surrender to Iraqi forces........

after being nice .pp offf wanker ! from all my brit

brouthers in arms from a yanker!!!!!

    god bless all

  • where is the bit about the turkey sandwich ????

  • Good question.

  • Can we pleeeeeaaaasssse attack Iran!! TV's boring at the moment.

  • @mtatkinson79 That would probably be the most watched event around the world ever. We know they are developing weapons, they have nuclear facilities that have been seen by foot and air, the govt. is killing those against that obviously rigged election. They are hellbent on destroying one of the oldest cultures on Earth, the Jews. The one problem I see is that Iran has alliances with other nations like Russia, which would create a two sided World War.

  • I love how people say George W Bush is an idiot...and then say he duped us....so who is the fool again?

  • We are. We always were. ....unless something changes we always will be.

  • You don't have more right because you kill for any country dum ass...If you believe this well you got lies also...The joke on you! I like to see any man or woman thinking they could cut in the homeless soup du jour in front of me...I will kick their sorry ass in the back of the line...

and not to the prisoners we took with 40hrs of sleep deprovation not hollywood dirty nasty

war . they would attack in force but surrenderd

    my bros peace to you

  • @xm774u -- What's your point? You DO know the Gulf War 'crisis' was entirely fabricated, that Saddam Hussein was actively encouraged to use military force to satisfy Iraq's territorial & oil-theft claims against Kuwait? He was set-up by US perfidy, resulting in tens of thousands of totally needless death & suffering, & a lasting crisis of ME legitimacy. US has historically invaded nations on even LESS credible pretexts than Iraq did. PLUS the US hired PR firms to 'market' the war. We wuz Pwned.

  • you are a moron....completely inept and unworthy of help. A complete jackass.....I could rob your house at gunpoint and in a matter of days the conspiracy theories of how George W. Bush is semi responsible would come out. You can't see the forest for the trees can you?

  • W would be too stupid to rob a house. he does his lying and killing from a distance and staffs it out.

  • Comment removed

  • World War 2 was the Movie war.

The Vietnam war was the TV war.

The Persian Gulf War was the Cable war.

The Iraq war was the Internet war.

  • @Classicguy66 Iran could be the 3-D war? LOL.

  • iran war cancelled due to the iphone :D

  • This is a great quote did you make this?

  • @Classicguy66 Afghanistan war is a lost war.

  • @Classicguy66 Next war? The cell phone war.

  • @Classicguy66 Will the next war be the smartphone war?

  • @Classicguy66 WW1 was a photograph war and a little movie war

  • @Classicguy66 And as always there's Korea:The Forgotten war.

  • @Classicguy66 World War 3 will be followed on makeshift radio sets by a handful of survivors living in caves or bunkers.

  • @Classicguy66 forgot to mention that WW1 was the radio war.

  • @matatanXtreme I was going to say that!

  • @Classicguy66 Fart.

  • Damn it's so hard to find footage of their little "experience" with that attack.

  • It's The Who's magic bus man

  • check the movie "live from baghdad" here on youtube theirs a play list of the movie its based on this

  • I saw this video, here in Brazil, in 1991.

  • Ironically I was home from work sick with the flu on this day, and by mere coincidence had CNN playing on my TV when this news broke. Initially I couldn't believe what I was seeing andswitched channels a few time to make sure it was CNN News. Then, when Bernard Shaw appeared, I knew it was the real deal.. CNN has not been the same since that man retired

  • Let us never forget Michael Scott Speicher and may we one find out what truly happened to him.

  • Americans are ADDICTED to WAR..

  • No we don't you fucking moron why don't you watch the new's more often maybe you will see that this country OPPOSES WAR

  • you are from america,, on your site.. you are addicted to being a tool for the shit of this planet.. while you suck , we fight for people we may never know ... for freedom ... you dirtbag... clild, you are from usa 22 yr old, little girl .. children should be seen and not heard..

  • again; Americans are addicted to war, it good for the economy. make love NO WAR. Jezus Christ was for world peace. man!

  • Yeah I remember this as well.. I had just moved into my own place, sat down to watch tv after work and this broke.. I watched the whole thing that night.

  • I saw this CNN program, here in Brazil, in 1991.

  • is it true that on this night CNN was simulcasted on NBC, CBS, and ABC

  • Not that I'm aware of...I'm almost certain that ABC ran their own special report, but CBS and NBC had difficulties getting through to their journalists, so NBC and CBS simulcasting CNN wasn't a far-fetched idea.

  • ok thnks

  • CNN was the only company with live coverage of the bombings abc ,cbs and nbc had to patch into cnn

  • Thanks for the information...I was in diapers when this occurred, so I have almost no memory of this historic event.

  • Aaron, I am surprised that you have any memory of this event, considering you were in diapers.

  • lol my uncle was USMC and said he had alot of fun in Iraq

  • yeah he had a lot of fun crying and begging for insurgents to not to kill him!!!!

  • well aren't you an asshole.

  • really?

    how so?

I'm honestly very interested, as I think it's incredible that someone on the other side of the world knows everything about me.

  • I'm not fighting, I simply called you an asshole, because you are one.

    also learn to spell.

  • I never said I was doing anything brave, and honestly you getting all fired up like this is quite entertaining, I love people like you.

    the internet is serious business,

now I have better things to do with my time then argue over pretty much nothing with someone who acts like they're 10 years old an just discovered the internet..

  • also on the subject of "fighting face to face"

insulting another person's family over the internet isn't exactly a brave thing to do there tough guy.

  • I was watching CNN as this event unfolded ... I still remember it well. I could hardly sleep that night from the excitement.

  • That's weird that it happened on my 11th birthday...

  • I had a professor who was in Jordan when Gulf War 1 started.

  • this was back when CNN actually reported the news objectively. top-notch coverage back in the day. now everyone is biased one way or the other.

  • @aaronp01 yea sure they did. if you ignore the fact that they fabricated entire events. /watch?v=8LvNIUHgnGk

watch that and tell me you believe anything in the above report.

  • @aaronp01 you got be kidding! how is this reporting?

    watch?v=98JDKB-Qmxs

  • I was in north Saudi when it started with the 101st. We watched the tracers and flashes through our night vision devices. It was pretty intense. I still get these weird feelings of dread when I watch the footage.

  • idelhands, I was in Riyadh at that time, working in a civilian capacity in a Hospital, I echo your comments, and even after all these years I still get chills when I hear a siren, as you know Riyadh had its own SCUD attacks. Thanks for your post!

  • So was I!! I was with the 1/327 A CO...man the feeling that come back are weird. What unit were you with?

  • You know, guys on the ground have to trust the maps, and intell they are given. It seems suspicious to me though, that during a desert war like the Gulf War 1991, so many of our troops came out with symptoms and syndromes reminicant of nuclear radiation poisioning. When and where did we test the bomb? And about Somolia, I saw the movie "Blackhawk Down", but an RPG? On an armor plated, armed, task force 160 helicopter, after insertion?

  • The possible radiation poisoning could be caused by the use of spent uranium (uranium from nuclear power plants when its use in the plant has been exhausted) shells and bullets. Because of their high density, spent uranium does a great job of punching through armored targets. Natural handling and use leaves powderized uranium over everything, and as trace amounts build-up, so does the increased likelihood of radiation poisoning.

  • Another possibility has to do with the destruction of a couple of chemical weapons factories. I guess depending on what weapons were being made if you had troops close enough they might have breathed in some chemicals.

  • In his book "Live From The Battlefield" Peter Arnett's description of the hours leading up to the start of Desert Storm was nothing short of chilling.

  • I am Kuwaiti and we thank America after God that we live in peace with our freedon away from The divel Saddam evil..!

  • If you love us give us some free oil!!!

  • Yeah. This was a cool war to watch on TV and an easy dunk for the US.

  • tHIS WAS A GAS TO WATCH, I WAS UP ALL NIGHT! SHOCK AND AWE, BEERS, AND BROADS....

  • I remember watching this live. It was crazy.

War is hell; however in the context of military conflict this was a short war. It was censored; I think Iraqi casialities were played down. It was very sensationalized in the U.S.; I remember towards the end, 'Dan Rather of NBC News was profiling the engines in the US Fighter/Bomber craft of which some or all were made by 'G.E.;' the owner of NBC News!!!!

  • Dan Rather was CBS.
