He was recruited into sicentology around this time but never spoke of it publicly, plus, the media didnt pry to much into celebs lives and personal beliefs. Enter the 2000's and the subject of psychicatry and happy pills came about so tom was willing to sacrifice his career to speak out against psychiatry and the medical community.
