it's lip syncing because they are not singing but have to move their mouths to match the lyrics to the song . so their lips have to be in sync (wasn't that ban lmao off topic) with te song Dictonary Def :to match lip movements with (recorded speech or singing)

Everything from the Prom Night fiasco was lip synced. It all has to be recorded in a studio first, just so it all sounds crystal clear and everything, and so the sound quality is good enough to be heard on the camera. Almost every singing scene you see on a Soap (or any other show for that matter) is mixed in a studio, and perfected. There is of course some exceptions (like the General Hospital karaoke night scenes), where the sound and quality isn't tampered with.
