@TheNameIsntSam I've got no problem with them discovering the works of Merchant/Gervais but I do have a problem when they keep bringing up the name of some robot on a video game on every video Merchant is in. WHEATLY!!!!!! On every fucking video. So annoying.
:L love the rice crispie thing :L the balloon pops rice crispies everywhere steve '-.- and now you've got to clean it up' thats such a quick comment! love it!
I thought Cemetery Junction was a really good film. They did a great job. Why everyone thought it was an all out comedy even when they said it was a hundred times I don't know.
@wadeanddave i don't remember stephen merchant starring (albeit a brief cameo role) in the "office" though i know he was one of the writers with ricky gervais. i love them both anyway, but hate an idiot abroad!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ProtestantsRUs I highly recommend it. Even if you watch it online, it's better than I thought it would be. It's not laugh out loud funny, and it's more story and drama driven, but it's definitely a worthwhile watch.
@chaosinorderrr I thought "Invention of Lying was brilliant!" Ricky did Spy kids just for the money, and Stephen did Hall pass because it was an opportunity to get his name out in Hollywood. (No one is making any good films these days, even huge stars are now doing T.V. shows. No one goes to the theater any longer, it's too expensive when they can have movies delivered to their own home for 8 bucks a month.) I went to the theater last weekend and it cost me 30 bucks just for the tickects!
@Furkin44 Inventiohn of Lying was brilliant? really now? its the same as Ghost Town... some high concept bullshit plot with a broad comedic script.... the exact opposite thing that we've come to love Ricky for doing (Office, Extras). i expect these films from the Adam Sandlers and Ben Stillers of the world to do, not Gervais. come on now. i don't have much problem with Smerch doing those films because all of them were mainly cameos. but with Ricky its a completely different thing.
@Furkin44 if it weren't for the money, why the hell would you make a movie? ppl don't care if u're trying to say something with the movie, and besides, how the hell would you pay for it all if it weren't for the money? It's all about the money, always been since it was invented.
@chaosinorderrr So true. Did you like Cemetery Junction? I almost didn't see it because I've got so used to Ricky acting in shit films. Ghost Town, Invention of Lying etc.
"while both are comedy fixtures in front of the camera, do they also have what it takes to tickle funny bones from behind it." did he not research them before? what a twat
@88FingersEddward It's like Stephen Merchant is looking more and more like Ewan McGregor every day, and vice versa, until one day they'll meet in the middle ^_^ Mrow.
@o0steventon0o I disagree. Wholeheartedly disagree. It was brilliant. Bought the DVD and hope they release a blu-ray version. Most of the reviews from viewers were upset because they grew up in small shit towns like Cemetery Junction. Most of them were twats, as well. Not saying you're a twat... everyone is entitled to an opinion.
@BS4Tactful Still, no reason to be upset while watching a movie, then proclaiming it a shit film. I mean, honestly, the only complaint I would have is that the Idea has been done before, but they tell you right away its a used up plot. Their spin on it is fantastic. It's one of my favourite films in the category.
@BlueMoonz55 I haven't seen it, I'll get round to watching it eventually. The casting was brilliant though; i saw the main guy in a channel 4 commissioned 4-part drama series called The Promise, he was exceptional.
Thanks, at first I thought you were joking when you said it was called "All The Young Dudes," lol. I've heard the song befoore, I just never knew the name of it.
That's "All the Young Dudes" by Mott the Hoople. David Bowie wrote it and gave it to Mott, who put it out in 1972. It shows up again during the movie clip at 1:20.
I love how rebellious they are to default standards in tele and media. Whenever they do interviews (the myspace one springs to mind, and Ricky's Letterman appearances) they always deconstruct the paradigm of the actual interview, instead of just turning up and plugging stuff (which they also parody).
Kinda shows why The Office was genre-redefining really :)
I love that they're talking to each other as though they are telling their own "love story" all looking lovingly into each other's eyes....needs a backdrop soundtrack...songs for lovers...maybe "Just The Two of Us"...or walking off the scene together down the street or on a beach holding hands to the Love Story theme song.
@LovelyBollocks and then karl comes along and ricky falls for karl and steve is jealous and tries to shave his head and act stupid like karl but this just puts off ricky and they part and during the time they live their separate lives they realize what drew them together in the first place and while they try to make up later, ricky apologizes and produces a ring which steve accepts and karl becomes their best man for their wedding. story is titled notting hill 2 (a la brokeback mountain)pathetic
