Increíbles recuerdos de los cursos de verano en el Conservatorio Nacional de Música en los 70's escuchar a este gran violinista en vivo, no tuvo comparación.
There is a great live record by Szeryng and Bagnoli in Ascona, in Italy. It's a performance of the 70's. They played the 3 B ( Beethoven, Brahms, Bach). Szeryng closed with Ciaccona. The best interpretation I ever heard, one of the best at all.
does anybody know what is the date of the recording?? I've heard about an adagio performance by szeryng a while before his death, and that is simply BACH.
Szeryng is, of course, first rate. However, I invite you to listen to Artur Grumiaux (available on Youtube). If I could play like anyone, it would be Grumiaux.
If you were forced to choose one group of compositions to take away to a desert island, one collection to get you through, the unaccompanied sonatas and partitas for solo violin by J.S.Bach would most assuredly be mine. Thank you for posting this wonderful perfromance. Szeryng is simply amazing.
I agree, I check out the notes on music sheet, his tempo and notes are very exact to the point that fractions of the tempo are respected for each note in the accord, it is perfection. At the same time, he has a very solid, and pure sound. This is an amazing Sonata No.1
Look at him, he looks too like Silvio Berlusconi!!
Great, anyway, any single chord is thought to emphasize the lead voice, great great work!!

I think J S Bach would himself be impressed and applaud such an incredible player.

@citylida I mean : Szering and Milstein are in the same level to playing Bach. Maybe Milstein was better.

No scraping or squawking here! Szeryng has always been my favorite violinist, and his Bach playing is very special.
