Cats are my favourite, so I really love this. That's amazing for a first go! I've had the same problem with black and red buttercream - just seems to end up grey and pink for me.
Thanks. I've switched to pre-coloured red and black fondant as Mayen suggested. (I guess you can't really do that with buttercream!) If you wanted to get some of that fondant, have a look at the website I sent you.
super cute!! u can go w/premade black fondant - but it also helps if u start w/CHOCOALTE fondant - chocolate fondant provides the perfect base 4deep black & deep red fondant. u'll never get true black or true deep red w/regular fondant, b/c as u discovered, all that food coloring throws off the proportions of the ingredients and leaves u w/a sticky mess! As 4a drying surface, I use parchment or wax paper. Great job, love to see more!
Love it :) your kitty has lots of personality !!! to get the 'absolutely' black color-- get the premade black fondant. in my experience no matter how much food gel i use, it still doesnt end up as black as the premade black fondant is. to make the black fondant dry easily or set in the position you desire, add Tylose powder to it and it becomes black gumpaste :) looking forward to seeing more from you ! :) ur work is amazing!
this is really cute. what kind of fondant do you use?
