  • My dad had this done to him, the lens and all and I always wondered what they did.....now I know

  • My mother had hers done back in the 70's and they had to take the lenses, capsules and all. We heard horror stories about it growing up. At 44, I have some pretty dense posterior subcapsular cataracts which will be taken care of by Christmas this year. Keep in mind that with the advances in cataract surgery, the procedure is fast, safe, and the patient has minimal discomfort. Many don't even remember the procedure at all. I will be so glad to have the surgeries done; it's no fun being blind.

  • @mothernyx how can you type this if you are blind right now?!!

As I remember, I had a bulky magnifier fitted over my monitor screen. I ended up having surgery just after Christmas two years ago, and have 20/20 vision.

I'm beginning to wonder about yours, as my comment was made over 2 years ago.

  • my 83 year old mother just had this...i did not realize that she had to go with this but she can see. God Bless all the people who does this surgery for helping our elderly

  • That's not what they did in the 80's - I was born with cateracts and they ripped my entire lenses out. I've seen it done, it's horrid!
