This is so great....thnx for uploading this....i love tuxedomoon....and mr blaine l. reininger did a great job as the rest of the guys.....LOVE IT.......INSHIOR
breaks my heart that this band, one of my favorites, had to go to europe to get this kind of attention. I was a froshmen in high school when I discovered them in 1981 when I was buying everything from ralph records.
as I recall, Steven Brown took an electronic music class at San Francisco City College. Our teacher was also named Mr. Brown as I remember. The synthisizers were as large as a battleship with six mathematicians inside with sharp pencils.
Whats that song that says..........59 seconds ...59 seconds of every one... 59seconds of every one minute... 59 seconds of every one minute is misery . I love that song it is so uplifting!
A comment to the attention of the person who posted this video: this DOC tv show dates from March 24, 1988. So you were right about the year ;-)
This show was recorded when Tuxedomoon were on their "Reunion tour" that brought them around the world (including Japan) in 1987-88. You'll find lots of details about this in the 476-page book I published last year about Tuxedomoon and entitled "Music For Vagabonds - The Tuxedomoon Chronicles"
Well, the noise is coming from the keyboards in the first piece, the violin is pretty quiet. And as for Blaine's playing, well... try listening Side Wind from Colorado Suite, or Ambient Popo from Joeboy in Mexico!
Yes! If you watch him carefully, you'll see him turn on a "distortion" effect on his violin (or something like it). He is really good. ...I love Peter back there putting down the bass guitar. He looks so menacing. LOL
"That drummer" as you say is Paul Zahl. Paul Zahl was a member of Tuxedomoon very early on, in San Francisco and the co-producer of the famous "No Tears" single, a single that owes a lot to him for its imaginative full-fledge drums.
Peter Principle,Steven Brown,Blaine Raininger,Winston Tong and everyone else involved in this band...you guys are part of my heart...thank you for your inspiration

Nope this tv show dates back exactly from March 24, 1988 (and not 1987). Believe me: I hold this info directly from the band's archive ;-)

What the hell is this? Tuxedomoon trying to be a regular 1980s pop/rock band? Where did that drummer come from?

Yes: so much lights and colours. I don't like this face of them.

fabiomandol 4 years ago
